‘Important and Effective’: Trump Wants ICE to Resume Traffic Stops

President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that he wants ICE to resume its traffic stops, reversing the agency’s decision from Tuesday.
The men and women of ICE are doing a GREAT job, one that has to be done. CRIME IS WAY DOWN IN AMERICA, in many cases with numbers that haven’t been seen in decades. The Open Border Policy of Sleepy Joe Biden allowed 25,000,000 people to pour into our Country, unchecked and unvetted. Many were Criminals, and we have to get them out. In order to do this, we must be strong, tough, and smart, and we CANNOT give up one of I.C.E.’s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools, THE TRAFFIC STOP! Once we do, we are playing right into the criminal’s hands. The Radical Left Dumocrats would like to see this done, but it won’t happen on my watch. Here is the order that went out to ICE personnel:
Effective immediately, all ERO initiated enforcement vehicle stops are suspended until further notice.
The directive applies to all ERO law enforcement officers and mandates for personnel suspend from initiating any type of vehicle stop. However, when executing a criminal warrant on a target who is in a vehicle, please work with partner agencies to initiate a stop.
All personnel are instructed to prioritize other existing operational methods, outside of vehicle stops, to conduct immigration enforcement activities. Officers should coordinate with their immediate supervisors regarding any ongoing activities impacted by this change.
The White House tells me President Trump OVERTURNED the suspension of ICE traffic stops this morning.
This, after DHS sent a memo out to all field office directors yesterday – saying ALL vehicle stops were suspended until further notice.

ICE made the decision after a traffic stop in Biddeford, Maine, left a 26-year-old man dead.
I haven’t written about the incident because I have no idea what’s going on.
We first heard that the officer shot an illegal alien. Then the news came out that the driver tried to run over the officers.
DHS has only released one statement on the traffic stop:
On July 13, 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM ET, ICE was conducting targeted surveillance on the last known address of an illegal alien with a final order of removal. An illegal alien departed the residence in a vehicle. ICE law enforcement attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene and, fearing for public safety, an officer discharged his weapon.
The driver of the vehicle was struck, and emergency services were immediately contacted. He passed away from his injuries.
The Biddeford Police Department and FBI responded to the scene. DHS OIG has been notified and like all discharge of firearms this will be investigated. This is a developing situation, and we will update the public when more information is available.
Notice how DHS didn’t confirm that the man tried to run over the officers.
Last week, an ICE officer in Houston shot and killed illegal alien Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during a traffic stop.
However, DHS stressed that Araujo “tried to run over an officer, prompting one to fire ‘in self-defense.'”
Both of those shootings led ICE to stop traffic stops.
“We are always evaluating our procedures to keep our officers safe and criminals off our streets. We will not disclose or discuss law enforcement tactics,” ICE disclosed to the Washington Examiner.
Not everyone is happy.
“Numbers are going down, we can’t do sh*t,” one source angrily told The Daily Wire.

The press in Maine would have you believe that the man shot was summarily executed while handing free ice cream cones to little children. Nothing can move them off their Orange Man Bad mindset, certainly not using an automobile as a deadly weapon. It doesn’t matter the importance of removing the alien or what crime that person either committed or is accused of. All that matters is opposing Trump.
When all is said and done, the most likely scenario is that the driver failed to heed lawful orders to stop, aimed the vehicle at an officer and hit the gas.
It doesn’t matter if you’re Sister Mary Margaret from the local convent or Spike the thrice convicted felon, you use an automobile to try and mow down a cop anywhere in the USA, you’re gonna get shot.
Just like if you’re in my country illegally, if a federal agent confronts you in a car, stop it and GET OUT
It matters very little what ICE does.

Meh, set up traffic control points in the 100 mile border zone. Check every vehicle and passenger. Surge to different ‘sanctuary’ jurisdictions on a rotating basis. Shame no coordination with local Govt is possible due to tendency of sanctuary jurisdictions to be uncooperative at best. Most people will be very understanding about the need and many happy that basic steps to round up criminal aliens is occurring. The AWFLs and woke leftists will have a fit …which is fine as long as they don’t interfere with the operation and if they do arrest them. If the local sanctuary jurisdiction was so unwise as to close or prevent enough Federal detention space locally then bring them where’s there room. I’m sure the AWFLs and woke leftists from VA, NJ, NY, Maine or wherever will be happy with the detention facilities in TX or Alabama, No whining about distance from homes either since they didn’t support build out of local facilities.
