USC offers ‘Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor’ that includes internships opportunity with ‘social justice organizations’
The University of Southern California (USC) is continuing to offer courses, academic programs, and internship opportunities for its students that are centered on queer theory and gender studies.
Students at USC can enroll in a 20-credit “Gender and Sexuality Studies Minor” offered by the school’s Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies. The program is aimed at “students specializing in other disciplines who would like a substantive introduction to the way gender shapes individuals and institutions, as well as to the research methods and topics specific to the field,” according to the school’s website.
The Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies, the department that offers the minor and associated courses, states on its own webpage that its curriculum “explores the myriad ways gender and sexuality impact politics, intimate life, culture, the workplace, athletics, technology, health, science, and in the very production of knowledge itself.”
To obtain the minor, students are given a number of course options to choose from, including one listed in the 2025-26 class catalogue, entitled: “Introduction to Queer Theory.”
In the description for the course, it states that students learn about “Genealogies of queer theory,” as well as “evolving concepts of gender” and their “relation to social justice, resistance and power.”
Students can also take “Queer Cinema, Literature and the Visual Arts,” which is a “comparative study of queer films, literature and arts across geographical areas and historical periods.” The course description notes that its texts will be “examined through queer theoretical perspectives.”
Another course listed, “Advanced Gender Theory,” presents “Contemporary debates and research in three areas: health bodies, science technologies; [and] feminist/queer analytics in media and representation,” and would also take “critical approaches to race, culture and power.”

The sad part is that when you’re done with your degree, you don’t even have a nice collection of underwater baskets to show for it.
And you still have a worthless degree for all your wasted time.
