Paris Official Says U.S. Bears ‘Significant Responsibility’ for Europe’s Deadly Heat Wave

“As the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, you bear a significant amount of responsibility for global warming and the consequences we, in France, are experiencing.”

More than 1,300 people are believed to have died across Europe during the current heat wave, according to the World Health Organization. With temperatures topping 40C (equivalent to 104 degrees Fahrenheit), France alone has reported about 1,000 excess deaths over just a three-day period (June 24–26), with about 85% of the victims aged 65 or older, as per Reuters.

One X user noted the situation has become so dire that “Paris morgues are overflowing from heat-related deaths” and that “morgues are now seeking permission for refrigerated containers.”

He wryly observed, “In Europe, you only get A/C once you’re dead.”

Stung by criticism over France’s lack of air conditioning as residents swelter through the deadly heat wave, Paris Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar took to Instagram to blame the crisis on U.S. carbon emissions.

Pulvar directed her rant at “American journalists and social media ‘influencers.'” She wrote:

For days, some of you have been criticizing and making fun of Paris because the city does not have A/C in every room. OMG, this is so rich!

As the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, you bear a significant amount of responsibility for global warming and the consequences we, in France, are experiencing. Your cities ‘90% air-conditioned’ are not unrelated to this. In Paris, we take responsibility.

We are not perfect, far from it, but at least for the past 25 years, we have implemented measures to reduce air pollution (responsible for 500,000 premature deaths in Europe each year), to green the city, to renovate for energy efficiency, and to transform transportation.

If every American city made the same ecological transition efforts as Paris and many European cities, believe me, the whole world would be better off. So please, enough with the lecture. Just start doing your part. Best regards.

She went on to highlight the specific measures Paris has taken “to reduce its environmental footprint and adapt to the consequences of climate change” — an apparent effort to deflect attention from the city’s own shortcomings.

As you can imagine, the backlash to Pulvar’s message was swift. Reactions poured in almost immediately, and virtually none were supportive.

[One response had me literally laughing out loud — but unfortunately, it was too profane to publish.]

Many said they were cranking their air conditioners down a few notches after reading her post. One wrote, “Just doing my part to ruin the environment.”

Another read, “Great – now do China, you complete moron …” China is by far the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide.

Others pointed to her responsibility as a leader, or rather, the lack thereof. “Good leaders take responsibility for and seek solutions to their country’s problems. Bad leaders blame other countries.”

“This is a wild post, especially for a ‘leader’ of a country. Help your people? No no, this is Americas fault.”

Most of the responses referenced the great sacrifices made by U.S. soldiers in World Wars I and II. Here are a few:

Saving your country in 2 World Wars wasn’t enough?!? Now we’re supposed to save your sorry asses from the heat too?!? Piss off!

Let’s not forget, AMERICA liberated your country from the Nazis, rebuilt you with the Marshall Plan, and bankroll[s] NATO so you can keep pretending you’re culturally superior. Your streets reek of piss, cigarettes, and body odor, your people are rude as hell and your service sucks, yet you lecture us about responsibility?

While tens of thousands of our men are buried on your soil, just be thankful you’re not all speaking German in your hot little apartments.

Blaming the U.S. for France’s lack of air conditioning is an astonishing exercise in deflection. Using America as a convenient scapegoat won’t cool a single apartment or save a single life. At some point, leaders have to stop pointing fingers and start addressing the vulnerabilities at home.

Modern air conditioning was invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier. More than 120 years later, there is no justification for affluent nations to treat air conditioning as a luxury while thousands die during heat waves. If European governments can spend billions on ambitious climate initiatives, they can also ensure that their citizens have access to a technology that has been saving lives for over a century.

The 1960s called and black activists want their hair back you quiche eating green surrendering hairy legged nutjob.

Well, at least she is partially black. When I went to West Germany in 1977 for the USAF, I saw many blond haired, white women with “afros”. Our joke was that they stuck their fingers in the 220V wall sockets to get that look.

So she is. Couldn’t tell from the photo.

I had an afro myself in 1974. My hair was curly and it didn’t take much to encourage it then. No I didn’t use the wall socket method.

I notice she’s not saying a damned thing about China and India and the amount of Carbon Dioxide those two countries put into the atmosphere, which is the bulk of it on a global scale….could it be because would be “Pulvarized” herself? Or maybe she doesn’t want to mention IPCC fell all over itself trying to backtrack from its own conclusions? Hmm……

To French politicians every problem is somebody else’s fault (usually ours.)

World’s smallest violin playing in the background.

From the comfort of my delightfully air conditioned office (72F) I can confidently say that I don’t care what French people think about Americans.

While blaming us for killing them, I’m surprised she didn’t outright claim that French citizens were martyrs for the “climate change” agenda, willingly sacrificing themselves rather than consuming more energy.

There are also these things called ‘fans’ and ‘water.’ Please do keep up on the latest in technology.

lol. This wasn’t a product of the vastly over-stated CO2 Global Warming crap. Rather, it’s just weather. Heat waves happen and IT IS NOT OUR FAULT YOU’RE TOO STUPID/ARROGANT TO BUY AC/s.

For example, I lived in the Sacramento Valley as kid. July average temperature is 95F. So far this year, in Redding where I still have family, there have been 8 days this year where the high temperature has reached at least 100F (or higher) in Redding.

As a former Redding resident, I lived through MULTIPLE DAYS of 110F+ with the highest being 116F in 1972 (which happened multiple times).during the ‘Global Cooling Phase’ of Climate Change.

In 1971, we had streak of 100+ days that lasted 23 days and set a record. Once again, during the so-called ‘Global Cooling Phase’ of ‘Climate Change.’

Also, while I now live in the Midwest (where it also gets hot) we have heaters. The reason for that is where I live we average of about 110 days with temperature below 32 F (0C).

These people are certifiable nutjobs.

I’ve always said that if the left truly believed greenhouse gas emissions were a cataclysmic threat, they should be willing to take military action against China and India, who produce EXPONENTIALLY MORE greenhouse gasses than we do, and the fact that they never suggest it leads me to believe they’re full of it.

The EU is crazy enough to actually do it. But again, to us, their alleged ally, because it’s somehow more “woke” to exclusively assault western nations

This. I noticed she didn’t aim any of her self-righteous wrath at either China or India.

Nope, America is “the Great Satan”…..

I don’t think it’s our problem that they were too stupid to air condition most of the buildings there.

The Gentle Grizzly | June 30, 2026 at 1:35 pm

One thing the French seem to do well is electricity from nuclear energy. They can build more plants and have all the AC they want.

It’s just easier to blame the US.

Lucifer Morningstar | June 30, 2026 at 1:37 pm

As the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, you bear a significant amount of responsibility for global warming and the consequences we, in France, are experiencing.

C’mon. Paris Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar has conveniently forgotten to mention that the largest emitter of greenhouse gas emission is China and the CCP allows more “greenhouse emissions” than the whole of the Western countries combined. So if anyone is going to be blamed and held responsible for the current heat wave it should be the China.

“Saving your country in 2 World Wars wasn’t enough?!? Now we’re supposed to save your sorry asses from the heat too?!? Piss off!

France: the unchallenged master of Global Whining.

Can the French World Cup Fans claim asylum?

It Would be interesting to know what the per capita
“Gas emissions” comparison numbers are.

irishgladiator63 | June 30, 2026 at 2:15 pm

I think it’s time to recognize that Europeans aren’t civilized, never were civilized, and never will be civilized. Time to stop dragging them along and let them sink back into barbarism.

stpaulchuck | June 30, 2026 at 2:17 pm

how about India and China you silly person? They NEVER joined the Satanic Gases hoax and pump out millions of tons of the Eeeeevil gases every year. As for the hot weather in frog land, the super el Nino is pushing Saharan air north into Europe. Nothing to do with CO2, etc.

henrybowman in reply to stpaulchuck. | June 30, 2026 at 2:40 pm

Sssssh. If you can’t find a way to blame it on Orange Man, someone might get fired.

Olinser in reply to stpaulchuck. | June 30, 2026 at 3:37 pm

And in fact, even if you believe China’s ‘official’ numbers (and China lies as a matter of course), then China now significantly out-produces the US in so-called ‘climate gasses’.

The fact the EU doesn’t say a world says everything about what this crap was always about.

E Howard Hunt | June 30, 2026 at 2:51 pm

It’s so hot Brigitte Macron stripped down to her jock strap.

I would like to know how a nuclear energy powered house is supposedly immoral and killing the climate if it has an air conditioner.

Europe is prioritizing virtue signaling over the elderly and the young.

Nuclear power plants emit waste heat as a byproduct of cooling the reactor into either the air or nearby bodies of water,

John Medina | June 30, 2026 at 3:21 pm

To think that this was once one of the world’s leading intellectual cultures. They have descended into madness.

Now if only the US government could stop requiring refrigerant changes every two years!

The last one was the “Biden” admin on the way out the door.

Oh, for the good old days with R-11 and R-12 for chillers and appliances and R-22 for home DX systems. They were cheap and they worked. Then we went to R-134a that was supposed to be best for everything. Now we have the exotic crap with head pressures in excess of 400 PSI and costs a full pay check to charge a system.

Tell me again how things have been “improved”.
    .

Yet again, the proper response is something like, “Croque moi.”
(That’s the literal, rather than the equivalent phrase.)

Can’t stop laughing; they’re sweating to death and green with envy of the U.S.

I wonder if the Stop Oil brigade is out in the heat stopping traffic and generally screwing things up or have they melted away.

Modern air conditioning was invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier.

This person?! But I have been assured by multiple Youtube videos that air conditioning was invented by a black man! Unpossible.

Because air conditioning is unusual in France and other European countries, more people die every year from heat-related causes than die of gunshot wounds in the United States.

Everyone says the wrong thing.

‘Why doesn’t Europe have air conditioning?’;

‘Why doesn’t the president/premier/prime minister/king/queen’commisar/ whatever euridiocy DO something about air conditioning?’

What about, ‘why aren’t european individuals buying air conditioners for their homes?’ Use Amazon.

Bam. problem solved.

Or is it illegal?

Is this just another example of the craptabulous nature of the various European ‘governments’

A/C means American/Cool

Buy the Heat Pump version and get A/C & Heat! BAM!

Thank you Mr. Carrier!

This IS a John Fonda-Kerry moment, let them find someone to surrender to and start burning some tires to save the environment.
