New Poll: Fewer Than One in Five Democrats Are Proud to be Americans

According to a new poll from Elon University, fewer than one in five Democrats feel proud to be an American — just as we’re about to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary.
For many on the Left, love of country comes with conditions attached. I highly doubt the people cited in this poll would have responded in the same way while Barack Obama was president.
The New York Post reported:
Fewer than 1 in 5 Dems feel proud to be American ahead of 250th birthday — compared to 2 in 3 of Republicans
Less than one in five Democratic voters said they are proud to be American in a recent poll ahead of America’s 250th birthday next month — compared to more than two-thirds of their Republican counterparts.
Those surveyed were asked what term best described how they felt when they thought about the United States marking its semiquincentennial anniversary, and Dems had almost nothing good to say.
Just 18% of self-described Democrats said they felt “Proud” and only 17% felt “Grateful,” according to polling conducted by Elon University and published on Tuesday.
A bigger number of Democrats (21%) said they felt “Conflicted” about America, 15% “Disappointed,” 6% “Frustrated,” and nearly a quarter (24%) had “No strong feelings,” the survey showed.
That contrasted strongly with self-described Republican voters, of whom 68% said they felt “Proud” and 19% felt “Grateful.”
Just 1% of Republicans felt “Disappointed,” about America, 1% felt “Frustrated,” and 9% had “No strong feelings.”
The funny thing about this is there are plenty of people in the left who bristle if you doubt their patriotism.
Back in 2016, Jon Stewart of The Daily Show, lectured conservatives, saying “You don’t own patriotism.”

I think that a country is best characterized by its people, more than its history and geography. It seems that more and more of my countrymen lack the virtues which our Republic requires. Therefore, my pride in my country has diminished.

1 in 5 may be a little high. Dems are some of the most negative, depressed, hateful bunch ever. Everything bad is somebody else’s fault, because they are perfect, and the only reason they are not worshiped as gods is the ignorance and failure of education in the others.

There is a first time for everything. For the first time in her adult life Michelle Obama said she was proud of something. I forget what.
America: The only country in history where the people who hate it the most refuse to leave.
If they hate it now imagine how much they’ll hate it if it is reduced to a third world balkanized country through rampant illegal immigration of undesirables and criminals.
That’s their objective. They need to be careful what they wish for.

I can think of lots of good things I’ve done well but don’t reach being proud of. It would first of all fall afoul of “act like you’ve been there before.”
Pride is listed as a sin. Why?
Pride is a sin if you take sole credit of what is accomplished. Pride is not a sin (according to the Bible) if God is given the credit for His guidance and providence.
Americans have a lot to be proud of.
Many times in the writings of the Founding Fathers, there is a reliance on God’s guidance and providence. The founding of the country that became a beacon of the free world (and even Communist countries) is something to be proud of.
The fact that men and women have fought for the God given rights and freedoms here in America and throughout the world is something we can be proud of.
People come to the county and have always come here to the light that America should be and once was. That beacon is something to be proud of.
I suspect that you won’t understand that because too many times you have tried to come off as an intellectual, but instead are vapid without any actual intellectual foundation.
BTW – get back to me when you want to condemn the sin of “pride” in “Gay Pride Month,” which is uniquely two sins in three words.

A week ago we had a power outage in heavy rain so my entertainment options were limited (Satellite for both TV and Internet). I pulled out my DVD collection and found Season one of West Wing someone gave me a long time ago. Hadn’t viewed it before and as I watched it became clear that none of characters portrayed would be comfortable in the d/prog party of 2026….heck most of them would have been exiled and they were carefully curated/scripted, propaganda avatars of mythical ‘moderate’ d/prog or Clinton era. A 2026 version of West Wing of Biden era would be totally insane.
I want to know how many are proud to be Democrats.

If you see an American flag outside a house you know exactly what party they voted for.
That has been my experience. My GF and I have noted that not once have we seen an American flag flown on a property that was displaying Democrat campaign signs. We play a game in the car – spot the flag. We indicate we’ve spotted a flag by saying “Trump.”
