A school district in the wealthy Deerfield suburb of Illinois spent nearly $360,000 defending its policy of letting gender-confused boys use the girls’ locker rooms.
The left-wing Chicago Sun Times said it received documentation showing that Deerfield District 109 “paid $358,051 to navigate the legal challenges and related expenses — equivalent to 37% of the federal funds it received last year,” following a viral complaint from a parent.
Last year, Nicole Georgas spoke at a school board meeting about how her 13-year-old daughter and other girls were forced to share the locker room at their school with a gender-confused boy.
“Georgas alleged administrators made her daughter change in front of them and the other student,” the Sun Times reported. “My daughter refused to take part in having her privacy being violated,” Georgas said at a school board meeting last March.
The story prompted a federal investigation by the Department of Education, which remains open.
Yet instead of practicing common sense and having the boy use the boys’ locker room or the “gender-neutral” room which the district built, officials decided to double down.
The obtained expenses “included $255,038 for legal defense, $55,335 for communications consultants, $30,551 in school security upgrades, [and] $7,476 for additional police and private security.”
The district also spent “$4,000 for extra staff to screen threats and other costs associated with accommodating the crowds at school board meetings.”
A local LGBT leader blamed conservative backlash over boys watching girls undress for the spending, not the insane policies of the district.
“When schools are forced to fight lawsuits over issues that aren’t a problem for the vast majority of people, it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars,” Bolingbrook Pride founder Allaina Humphreys said.
“Straight up monetarily, why are we spending so much time prosecuting and persecuting a minuscule part of the population?” she said.
Activists blamed conservative groups for creating a “manufactured controversy.”
But the solution is relatively simple – don’t let boys go into the girls’ locker rooms.
For years that was just common sense and probably earned a detention at every school, but that has changed as LGBT activists have tried to force their way into every female-only space.
