UNC Charlotte Drops ‘Gender-Affirming Housing,’ Citing Federal Guidance

As a recipient of federal funds, UNC Charlotte must comply with applicable Title IX directives.”

All of this nonsense has to come to an end at some point.

The College Fix reports:

UNC Charlotte ends ‘gender-affirming housing,’ cites federal guidance

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte will discontinue its “gender-affirming housing” this fall, citing federal guidelines that recognize only two genders.

Housing will be based on students’ biological sex to adhere to federal guidance issued by President Donald Trump, UNC spokeswoman Christy Jackson told the Charlotte Observer.

“Executive Order 14168 directed federal agencies, including the Department of Education, to interpret sex-based laws based on biological sex rather than gender identity,” Jackson told the newspaper. “As a recipient of federal funds, UNC Charlotte must comply with applicable Title IX directives.”

The order states in part: “Federal funds shall not be used to promote gender ideology.”

According to the Niner Times student newspaper, the UNC system has not issued a new policy against gender-affirming housing, but last June UNC Asheville also “altered its policy to require students to live in dorms aligned with their assigned gender at birth.”

“Gender-affirming housing at UNC Charlotte will be discontinued in the fall of 2026, a change made without notice to the students who currently rely on the program,” the newspaper reported.

“No other UNC System institution has publicly announced similar changes.”
