U. Oregon Adding ‘ICE Presence’ Alert to Emergency Notification System
“The UO Anti-ICE Coalition is an umbrella group, comprised of student organizations such as the UO Young Democratic Socialists of America, Party for Socialism and Liberation, and the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán, or MEChA.”
This is completely unnecessary. Pure virtue signaling.
The College Fix reports:
U. Oregon to add ‘ICE presence’ alert to existing emergency notification system
This coming Tuesday, the University of Oregon will begin using its existing emergency “UO Alert” system to notify students and staff of the presence of Immigrations and Custom Enforcement on campus.
According to the UO Office of Safety and Risk Services, a UO Alert is sent out “when there is an imminent threat to health and/or safety to the campus community.”
The Post Millennial’s Andy Ngo noted on X the system is supposed to be “meant for things like shootings, accidents and violence on campus.”
The school’s move is a concession to the first of UO Anti-ICE Coalition’s demands made last month.
The Daily Emerald reports the alert also complies with Oregon’s “Safeguarding Students and Families Act,” which became in late March and requires all K-12 schools and public universities to establish an ICE alert system by September 30.
The UO Anti-ICE Coalition is an umbrella group, comprised of student organizations such as the UO Young Democratic Socialists of America, Party for Socialism and Liberation, and the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán, or MEChA.
Other coalition demands include “not using the code of conduct” or campus police when UO protesters “peacefully impede” ICE officers, and the creation of a cultural center for the “Latiné” Student Coalition.
Coalition member Cooper Burke told The Emerald that waiting until the September deadline mandated by law really wasn’t an option: “[The deadline] leaves a pretty big gap in protection for students. People are going to be here for the next couple weeks and even over the summer so there is obviously a big gap in security […]
“Admin is very disconnected from student life and student safety as a whole. There’s not enough work being done to make students, students that have been minoritized, feel truly safe on campus.”

Comments
Make sure the warning goes off at least three times every day, and the “problem people” will quickly sort themselves out.
hopefully they are also adding a bankruptcy alert to their financial department
UO admits all staff and student body are illegals.
Should UO add a “DEI Card Overdrawn” alert too? Probably not. That alarm would be blaring all the time.
