U. Minnesota Med School Offers ‘Child & Adolescent’ Gender-Affirming Care

In a discovery by CriticalRace.org, the University of Minnesota Medical School was found to offer “Child & Adolescent Gender Services” through its Sexual and Gender Health Clinic. These services include “gender affirming medication” for children.
“We provide services across the lifespan, with specific services for children, adolescents, and adults,” states the clinic’s website.
“All children and adolescents develop differently, and it’s common for some children, adolescents, and their families to need professional help understanding various gender issues.”
The website then dives into interventions conducted by the clinic on children who may be struggling with their gender.
“Intervention begins with assessment of a child/adolescent in conjunction with their caregiver(s).”
Services which may be provided to children include “gender affirming medication interventions, including puberty suppression, menstrual suppression, and hormone therapy.”
The University of Minnesota’s gender affirming care services to minors have been a hot topic of debate for students who object to the morality of such treatment. In 2023, a Catholic medical student group at the university stood firmly against gender affirming care for minors on campus. Emma Pero, the first president of the University of Minnesota’s Catholic Medical Association, noted the explicit moral violations taught in the classroom.
“My days were filled with so many lectures and guidelines that I knew were not right or ordered at all, and they were most definitely against our beliefs as Catholics,” wrote Pero.
President Trump has taken a hard-line stance against publicly funded medical schools that provide or promote gender transition treatments for minors. In Executive Order 14187, titled “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” the administration directed federally funded institutions, including medical schools, to discontinue providing gender-affirming treatment for children.
“The head of each executive department or agency (agency) that provides research or education grants to medical institutions, including medical schools and hospitals, shall, consistent with applicable law…immediately take appropriate steps to ensure that institutions receiving Federal research or education grants end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children,” reads the order.
Not only does the Sexual and Gender Health Clinic offer medical transition assistance to children, but it also provides therapy and education for parents or caregivers who may be struggling with their child’s new gender.
“Caregiver(s) often experience a range of emotions and have many questions when learning about their child’s gender,” states the clinic.
“We provide education and therapeutic support for caregivers. For caregivers of adolescents, we invite them to participate in group therapy with their adolescent. This gives the opportunity to meet other caregivers in similar situations.”

Islam is rightly condemned for the practice of genital mutilation of young women. How is this any different? I suggest that it isn’t.
If I wake up tomorrow and decide that I’m a water buffalo, can I approach the local veterinary medical school and demand that taxpayers pay to have cool looking horns attached to my skull?
I simply cannot get my arms around the evil that exists in this practice. One’s gender is encoded into every fiber of our DNA. Stitching a faux phallus on a female human doesn’t make her male any more than putting horns on my head makes me a water buffalo.
How about those people who feel that their arm or their leg or their whatever is not really them and that they cannot be happy until it is removed….just like trans.
In Matt Walsh’s documentary “What is a woman?” he asked a trans surgeon what he thought about this. I’m paraphrasing, but he said, “That’s just weird”. Walsh just let that hang in the air for a while.

the being said, I have a cousins in the twin cities, all of whom a solid republicans, with one married to a democrat. The democrat cousin-in-law became republican once he saw the fiasco of covid, george floyd and the massive shift to idiocy that overtook the twin cities.
Decades ago I went to MPLS every few years for tech schools by the well known international controls company that left the city (you supply the name – starts with H). In the 70s, downtown MPLS was beautiful. I’ll never forget walking down Nicollet Mall into the IDS Tower and standing in awe in the main lobby. All I can say is, it was stunning. And Mall of America was no less stunning when it was new.
Notice I said “was”. The last time I was there in the mid 90s it had dramatically changed and not for the better. I can only assume the decline continued over the last thirty years. How sad. It didn’t have to happen but it did. Very disappointing.

I went all over Mn many time in the 1970s and loved it, even in winter as long as I could sleep between the mattresses. I even like MSP airport as I had become a frequent Northwest Orient and even North Central Air flyer.
