Leftist Mob Shouts Down Turning Point USA Event at University of Washington

Turning Point USA recently held an event at the University of Washington when a mob of leftists, including a guy with a snare drum, showed up to harass them and drown them out.
This has just become routine. Leftists simply will not allow conservatives to speak on college campuses. They snap into action as free speech defenders if conservatives criticize Jimmy Kimmel’s tasteless and relentless attacks on Trump, but go silent the moment a mob shows up to shout down anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders on a college campus.

Progressive student groups claimed their free speech was violated Wednesday at the University of Washington after a protester was arrested for trying to drown out my Turning Point USA chapter’s event with Nick Freitas.
Protesters chanted “Trans rights are human rights” and “TPUSA go away” as one student banged loudly on a drum. In passing, another protester compared conservatism to a contagion and said we needed to be inoculated.
“In a time where opinions are loud and empathy is scarce, the real challenge isn’t choosing a side – it’s choosing to be understood,” Marco Saavedra, a conservative student who attended the event, told me. “Progress begins when we’re willing to listen as deeply as we speak.”
However, listening was nearly impossible for the attendees because approximately 25 protesters from left-wing student organizations were chanting and beating drums while our event was taking place.
My TPUSA chapter hosted the “Prove Me Wrong” event where Freitas, a former Green Beret and Republican lawmaker turned political commentator, answered questions from the crowd on a number of issues.
The Daily, UW’s student newspaper, reported there were about 200 attendees while Rachel Anderson, TPUSA college field representative, estimated that there were 500.
Tabling adjacent to us was the newly established Young Americans for Liberty chapter. Both groups were doing our best to promote free speech.
A small group of protesters made the event difficult for the rest of us.
One student protester who appeared to be affiliated with Institutional Climate Action was arrested after he kept banging loudly on a drum, attempting to drown out Freitas.

This is why no one on the right loses any sleep when a college closes down and until the left allows conservatives to speak without harassment, that is not going to change.

Yeah, the First Amendment is entirely about government control of speech.
But the concept is also about letting others speak, and countering their ideas with ideas of your own, not shouting them down.
IMO there’s no reason for govt to stand aside and allow a hecklers veto to disrupt/override/overwhelm another entity/individual free speech. The point of the 1A is to get the speech, especially controversial speech, out into the open to allow civil public discourse. Allowing bullies to prevail by refusing to halt the bullying seems like bad public policy. Not just the immediate impact of preventing speech made/heard/discussed but from a public safety standpoint… eventually folks will push back forcefully into the space the govt ceded to bullying hecklers. Far better the govt act than the inevitable mob of otherwise decent folks who’ve been pushed too far and are rightfully PO enough to act in place of an impotent govt.
…and that, friends is the difference. I went to observe two “No Kings” rallies and there were no conservatives performing a heckler’s veto.
It is time to vote on segregation of society.
Or just use the County map of Presidential elections returns with a couple caveats:
1. Gotta be contiguous, no ‘Islands’
2. Successor gov’t to assist to facilitate willing/voluntary exchanges of homes ‘across the lines’ so someone in coastal CA can one for one exchange property with someone in South Carolina to get the blue individual to the blue location and vice versa.
What we’d likely end up with is San Diego and inland empire as Red. The remainder of Pacific coast blue with interior ORE and WA red. A sort of blue bastion of Chicago and Detroit and an East coast version with basically everything East and North of Pittsburgh blue reaching down/across to NOVA and Maryland. Couple this with Canadian Provinces doing the same and we end up an West Canada, Mid Canada and a ‘greater New England’ with basically the rest of USA and Canada merged into a red entity.
Why does the Left use such aggressive tactics on campuses? The answer is simple – the Left can’t afford to allow the Right to recruit college students. You see, Get Out The Vote operations only work with lots of volunteers, and that in practical terms means retirees, college students, and people on public assistance. Nobody else has the time to devote to such activities. The Left has a monopoly on campus, and they need it for their organized political activities. TPUSA is their only real competition.
Once again Democrats who can’t withstand debate resort to the fascist veto.
This is merely the latest manifestation of the communist/Islamofascist Dhimmi-crats’ thuggish hecklers’ veto.
These vile and evil pukes know full-well that they can’t win policy debates on the facts and merits, so they resort to intimidation, threats, disruption and violence, to hinder and silence the expression of opposing views and opinions.
There’s never an A-10 around when you need one… 🙂
