Yale College Republicans President Alleges Bias Against Conservatives in Admissions
“Conservative voices are silenced on campus by creating an environment that is not conducive to free speech, by creating an environment that is not welcoming”
This is easy to believe. Many people think this is what diversity statements were for: to weed out conservatives.
Campus Reform reports:
Yale College Republicans president: there is bias against conservatives in admissions process
Conservative voices are suppressed on Yale University’s campus, according to the founding president of Yale College Republicans.
The president, named Manu Anpalagan, told Campus Reform in an exclusive interview that the suppression starts with the assumptions that faculty and professors make about students’ political orientation, and being liberal is deemed the default.
“The professors automatically assume that you’re a liberal,” said Anpalagan. “It’s almost like they don’t even consider the option of there being alternative viewpoints within that class… And if you don’t follow that default ideology, there’s something wrong with you.”
“Conservative voices are silenced on campus by creating an environment that is not conducive to free speech, by creating an environment that is not welcoming,” Anpalagan added.
Anpalagan affirmed that he has many friends who have felt that they had to “actively suppress their own ideas in class” or be “disadvantaged when it comes to grading.”
For example, one of his friends—left unnamed—felt he needed to stay silent about his conservative beliefs.
According to the story, the friend was enrolled in an English class around the same time as the Sept. 10 murder of Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk. The professor “insulted” Charlie Kirk in front of the whole class, reportedly making statements such as, “I don’t know who would go to that memorial service.”
The professor went on to talk about “what a shame it was that all these people are turning out to Arizona for Charlie Kirk’s memorial.”
According to Anpalagan, “The professor’s comments were so out of touch and inappropriate” that the entire class went completely silent.

It would come as no surprise to find out that leadership in extracurricular activities would help chances of admission to elite private colleges.
However, certain extracurricular activities are more equal than others.
