Progressive Rep. Ro Khanna to be Honored at Suffolk U. Commencement

“has emerged as a leading progressive voice in the US House of Representatives”

Every year it’s the same thing. Democrats get invited to speak at schools while Republicans are snubbed.

Campus Reform reports:

Suffolk University to honor progressive Rep. Ro Khanna at commencement

Suffolk University, a private school in Boston, will recognize progressive Rep. Ro Khanna with an honorary degree on May 17 as part of its commencement ceremony.

The university will award three honorary degrees at commencement in the categories of government, higher education, and technology. Khanna will receive an honorary degree for his work in government.

According to the university, Khanna “has emerged as a leading progressive voice in the US House of Representatives, working to restore American manufacturing and technology leadership, improve the lives of working people, and advance US leadership on climate, human rights, and diplomacy around the world.”

Suffolk will also recognize Robert Lamb Jr., the chair of its board of trustees, and Cheree McAlpine, the chief legal officer for Zoom. Khanna has represented California’s 17th district in the House of Representatives since 2017.

“These remarkable leaders have each demonstrated a capacity for innovation that is firmly grounded in a commitment to the common good,” Suffolk University President Marisa Kelly said in the university’s announcement.

As a leading member of the Progressive Caucus, Khanna is well-known for supporting left-wing policies.

Progressive Punch, which measures the voting patterns of members of Congress, gives Khanna’s voting record an ‘A,’ finding that he voted in line with progressive positions 96.85 percent of the time.

Under a section titled “Equality and Social Justice,” Khanna’s website boasts that he is a member of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus and the Transgender Equality Task Force.

We used to say the name out loud: Suffolk U.

That’s all it took. Seems appropriate here.
