Federal Filings Show Yale Trustees Made No Donations to Republicans From 2024 to 2026
“Members of the Yale Corporation donate almost exclusively to Democrats.”
This isn’t really surprising. The left wholly owns higher education.
Yale Daily News reports:
Trustees’ political tilts scrutinized by Yalies on left and right
Members of the Yale Corporation donate almost exclusively to Democrats. The composition of the board of trustees has drawn scrutiny from student activists and campus organizations on both the left and the right.
The sitting trustees, who were chosen by either alumni election or appointment by the board, skewed toward Democrats in their political donations. Newly released Federal Election Commission filings show that, between January 2024 and April 2026, the trustees donated just over $950,000 to committees and campaigns affiliated with the Democratic Party, around $150,000 to committees not affiliated with either party and no donations to Republican or third-party candidates or committees.
The conservative Buckley Institute noted “political bias” towards Democrats on the Corporation in a February report, while cardboard signs calling for the Corporation to divest from Palantir and ICE are staples at campus protests. At a divestment protest last week, organizers said the trustees manage Yale like a hedge fund and do not reflect students’ values.
“Yale does not track or comment on the political affiliations of members of the Yale Corporation,” University spokesperson Karen Peart wrote in an email to the News. She added that Yale is committed to “fostering open debate, preserving freedom of expression, and creating an environment in which a wide range of ideas can be expressed and heard civilly.”
Corporation members donated to campaigns across the country during the 2024 election cycle, 2025 off-year elections and the 2026 midterm elections. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, during her 2024 campaign for president, received around $500,000 from Yale’s trustees, the filings show.
“The lack of political diversity on the Yale Corporation is unfortunately not a surprise,” Lauren Noble ’11, the founder and executive director of the Buckley Institute, wrote to the News. “We are confident that Yale, with its incredible resources, can identify at least one conservative within its network of over 130,000 alumni to serve as a trustee.”
