Arrest Made in Brutal Rape, Murder of Elderly Oklahoma City Grandmother

Some crimes are so heinous that you get physically sick just reading about them, let alone talking about them. Many people out there undoubtedly feel that way after learning the horrific story of Ina Rae Balch, an 85-year-old Oklahoma grandmother who loved living life to the fullest but whose final hours were hell on Earth.
Ms. Balch, whose family members described as a woman of strong Christian faith who kept prayer journals, was preparing to celebrate Christmas and had just received an early gift of a recliner from her granddaughters when, approximately a day later, on December 9th, 2025, she was viciously raped and murdered.
Her son, who had come to pick her up that day so they could go check out Christmas lights, is the one who found her body:
According to court documents, her death was extremely suspicious after she was found upright on the bed and tied up with her own clothing. It’s believed that she would not have been able to escape.
She had multiple bruises on her body, including her face.

One of her granddaughters, Melissa Garcia, posted about her grandmother’s murder on her Instagram page the day after it happened:

In early April, 33-year-old Cordell Wilson was arrested and charged with Ina Balch’s rape and murder:
Investigators say evidence led them to 33-year-old Cordell Wilson, who was already in custody at the time on unrelated charges.
Wilson is now facing a charge of felony murder.

The Grok feature on X claims Wilson is a repeat offender. I did some digging and found an arrest in July and then August of 2025 of a man named Cordell Wilson in Oklahoma City, who is the same age as this one, but it’s unclear if it is the same person because the mugshots are not identical:

Amazingly, Ms. Balch’s family says that if the victim could talk to the suspect, she would tell him she forgave him:

There is a need to bring back an old and ugly name to call such felons, once used too often for regular law abiding folk and still in use in some portions of his community and only allowed in that portion. I blame Eli Whitney for this… have to blame someone… might as well be him.

You really think anything is going to happen to him? Nope. The first thing that will happen is that his Public Defender will request a “mental health status evaluation” (or whatever they call in in Oklahoma) and he’ll inevitably be judged to be a retarded and his PD will then use the “retarded black defense” as a means for him to escape any meaningful punishment for his heinous crimes. You know, “My client is retarded and was mentally incapable of realizing what he was doing was wrong.” kind of thing. So don’t expect any kind of meaningful punishment to come of the trial. In fairness, an ironclad and appeal-proof prosecution requires that a competent defense attorney and a competent defense be provided to the perp.
I don’t think it’s fair to blame the public defender who gets assigned to the case; he/she is just doing her job, and the prosecution can’t be accomplished, without him/her.
I think when most people complain about lawyers defending bad guys, it’s based on the perception of twisting the law to gain their release and not arguing the facts. Problematic search warrants, not reading them their rights, and such.

And, again, without that attorney providing a competent defense to the perp, the prosecution’s conviction will be reversed, on appeal.

The problem with our penal system is that it thinks in terms of redemption and understanding of the perp once they sentence is up. This is total BS and everyone knows it. Recidivision rate is about 90% for released violent criminals but for some unGodly reson we let them out! Think about how sick this MF is to rape and kill an 85 year old woman! This is why the justice system should NOT be oriented on “rehabilitation” or anything of the sort. It should be focused entirely on punishing the perpetrator of crime. Let the churches and synagogues rehabilitate people. The government is supposed to dispense justice.
And NOT the [adjective] justice sort. The court is not in existence to take into account the whys and wherefores of the criminal’s arrival at this point in time – whether personal or societal. It is solely to judge the actions committed and to punish the guilty appropriately.

The first focus of the justice system should be keeping dangerous people under control. One-time offenders CAN be rehabilitated — there are people who learn from their mistakes and clean themselves up.
But repeat offenders? Keep them away from innocent people. Violent offenders deserve execution. Murder and (actual) rape should get the death penalty.

I am concerned that we have obviously failed in our (?) 75-year program to
improvemove American black culture closer to American white culture. I have tried to do some lazy research to find out whether crime rates have improved since we undertook this great sociological program – but too much propaganda clouds the past. The available record shows that blacks were good citizens then who only needed opportunity.My personal feeling is that white society has very much done its part in this experiment but that black society has not risen to the task; perhaps it has even suffered. Certainly marriage rates have fallen and 20 -25% of welfare and SNAP recipients are black. Roughly 1 in 2 Black men (~45–50%) have been arrested at some point in their lives. (To be fair the rate for white men is ~35–40%).
So here’s the question: what do we, as a nation do? The current programs have left us with a permanent underclass, but not a quiet harmless one. Is the answer as simple and obvious as incarcerating “the problem children?”
We would be looking at huge numbers, and I am not sure that incarceration does much towards rehabilitation either on an individual or a societal level. It frankly just means more black families with no fathers.

Before the “Great Society”, there were fewer blacks born out of wedlock than whites. Segregation DID keep opportunities closed to blacks.
