Student Govt. at U. Maryland-College Park Pledges Solidarity With Islamic Republic of Iran

University of Maryland student government to pledge solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran
Student leaders at the University of Maryland-College Park (UMCP) have reportedly introduced a new resolution pledging solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Members of the Student Government Association (SGA)—which represents the student body—introduced the resolution on March 4 following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on the dictatorial regime in Iran.
The resolution condemns American intervention in Iran.
“The SGA calls upon the US, Israel, Iran, and all other involved international parties to establish an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East,” reads the resolution, in part.
It also condemns the January capture of Venezuelan dictator and cartel gangbanger Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested on charges of international drug trafficking. It reads, in part, “The SGA condemns unprovoked US military intervention against Iran, Venezuela, and all countries around the world.”
“The SGA stands in solidarity with all Iranian victims of US and Israeli strikes, as well as state repression, and their loved ones,” it continues.
Despite the fact that Iranians worldwide celebrated the coordinated strikes and subsequent Feb. 28 death of dictator Ayatollah Khamenei, the resolution feigns support for Iranians’ right to “self-determination” of their own political futures “without foreign interference or coercion.”
Yet, social media is flooded with videos of the Iranian people thanking the administration of President Donald Trump for taking decisive action.
Finally, the resolution calls on the university to divest from any and all entities “responsible for the manufacture and distribution of arms used in unlawful strikes against Iran and Venezuela to the US and Israel.”

Wow that is just shameful. A student gov’t at an American public school claims fealty to a theocratic regime that brutalizes it’s own people and is responsible for 100,000s of murders globally. It think this group should be censored and dismantled.
The first amendment doesn’t allow that.
And they didn’t pledge fealty, they pledged solidarity with the victims, all the victims, including both the mullahs and the tens of thousands they murdered.
Listen I believe in free speech and I believe in consequences; they should have to do an educational session where they listen to real Iranians not tic toc videos.

They are simply too stupid to realize how truly ignorant they really are. Just like the woman the other day who said there is no black on black crime when in fact 90% of the murders of black people are by other black people. They are simple minded and lack the capacity for critical thought.
They are just like the young millenial woman I encountered who was holding the defund the po po sign. She was without words when I asked her who she was planning to call when she had a problem then, and likely would be equally confused if i were to later ask her to explain the 50% reduction of Portland’s police force that coincided with a 30% uptick in the murder of black people. Wasn’t getting rid of the police supposed to make everyone safer?

Now, if the college were smart, they would immediately abolish the student “government”, suspend all students involved, and then expel all those who voted for it. And then do not reform your student government – because it’s one of the most idiotic things colleges ever did.
Ship the SGA to Iran since they’re so dedicated to the regime.

And yes, exactly so. You got it. Everyone’s a victim and they’re in solidarity with all of them. No distinction between bloodthirsty murderers and the tens of thousands that they slaughtered.
I vote for droning that student government when they are in session. This will be a teaching lesson as to exactly what solidarity means instead of useless and insulting virtue signaling.

Not with Nazi Germany. Contrary to the headline on this post, they didn’t pledge solidarity with Iran, they expressed solidarity with “all Iranian victims of US and Israeli strikes, as well as state repression”. So in 1942 they would be expressing solidarity with “all German victims of US and Allied strikes, as well as” of the Nazis. It’s fuzzy-headed pacifism. “All war is wrong, all killing is wrong, nothing justifies war or killing, two wrongs don’t make a right”, you know the drill.
In the Camps, the Nazis used the J’s Witnesses as barbers, because they trusted them not to kill them. A Witness could have a German sitting in the chair, and a razor in his hand, and give an honest haircut, so the “customer” can get out of the chair and send the barber to the gas chambers. A Jew would cut the guy’s throat.

As Milhouse points the First Amendment precludes a lot of actions that one would like to take against the members of this so-called student government especially because UM is a state institution, but there is nothing that prevents wide dissemination of their names to make sure that the court of public opinion, which sometimes has a long memory, does punish them to the extent that they are not already unemployable by virtue of having concentrated their college time in nonsense.
These are dumb, ignorant people that apparentely don’t know or understand what has gone on in Iran for the last 47 years !
This should come as no surprise in a Communist-controlled state like Maryland.
