Debate About Biological Sex at U. Delaware Prompts Need for Safe Space

“I don’t know who taught these students to be so fragile, but I do know that plenty of faculty behave the exact same way.”

Why would you even need to debate biological sex? What is there to debate?

The College Fix reports:

‘Is biological sex binary?’ debate at U. Delaware prompts safe space, security measures

A recent debate on the controversies surrounding biological sex at the University of Delaware prompted the need for security measures as well as the creation of a safe space for students upset about the topic.

The university noted that as part of attending the debate, all guests had to “go through security.”

Held March 6, the “Debating Sex: Is Biological Sex Binary?” event featured Tomás Bogardus, a philosophy professor at Pepperdine University who defended male and female categories, and Agustín Fuentes, an anthropology professor at Princeton University who supported the concept that gender is a spectrum.

According to Spotlight Delaware, the event prompted criticism from some LGBTQ students who argued it “framed the existence and legitimacy of transgender and queer people as something up for debate.”

“Seeing the faculty put on an event that challenges those queer identities is kind of like a slap in the face,” one student told the news outlet.

The debate led to the creation of a safe space, Spotlight Delaware reported:

Still, multiple student groups gathered for a separate event, scheduled for the same time as the debate, to provide what they said would be a safe space for students to discuss how it impacted them.

Some argued that the UD-sanctioned event should have been framed as a conversation, saying the word “debate” suggests that one side must ultimately be right.

Others pointed to the power imbalance of the university-backed event, arguing it was unfair to expect vulnerable students to defend their identities in front of professors and their peers.

The debate was co-hosted by the Philosophy, Women & Gender Studies, and Anthropology departments, the university’s website states.

The safe space prompted some criticism.

Brandon Warmke, a philosophy professor at the University of Florida, posted on X: “Multiple student groups didn’t attend, created a safe space to discuss how the debate affected them. I don’t know who taught these students to be so fragile, but I do know that plenty of faculty behave the exact same way.”

Who decided it is a “controversy”? We have incontrovertible truth in two sexes..

There’s your problem right there. I’m thinking two of the four can be eliminated right off the bat.

its not just the schools

many retail outlets have woke (almost all females) workers who let you know at the slightest hint of being

“disrespected”
and employers wont fire them b/c they cant get anyone to work as the feds continue to subsidize these types

“Why would you even need to debate biological sex? What is there to debate?” Here, here! Much has been made about “intersex” and those individuals with chromosomal pairings other than a simple XX or XY. When it comes down to “brass tacks” there are only two types of gametes: egg and sperm. Those individuals that produce (and store) or have the plumbing (perhaps non-functioning) to produce (and store), or have had the plumbing to produce (and store) eggs are females. And those that produce or have the plumbing (perhaps non-functioning) to produce or have had the plumbing to produce sperm are males. There are no individuals, to my knowledge, that have the ability to produce both. Even if one removes components of the gamete production and delivery system, either for health or cosmetic reasons, the body is still programmed to produce one type of gamete. Reproductive capabilities and the body that supports it are indeed binary. There really is nothing to debate or to feel unsafe.

…with total lack of awareness of how this has been the daily experience of “normies” for over a decade now.

Why do we have to pony up for new “safe spaces” for snowflakes? Teaching them how to jam their fingers in their side-holes and scream “LA LA LA LA LA LA” is free, and takes only about 20 seconds for an entire roomful.

They are not snowflakes. Snowflakes are amazingly structured works of art and science that display the wonders of God’s creation. Falling as one they display no attributes of being delicate at all. Nope these idiots are not snowflakes. They are neither things of beauty or wonder.

Perhaps a better analogy would be to the pinworm. These parasites are found in the flood waters (AKA as septic overflows) after a hurricane. Florida mothers know that if their kids have been stomping about in such water it will be necessary to shine a flashlight in the direction of the child’s butt to reveal the worms as the asshole is where they like to hide. Yep, pinworm it is. They thrive in sewage. They prefer the company of a-holes. They hide from the light. They are destructive. Seems most fitting.

Oh how I long for the days when a trip through the wardrobe lead a person to Narnia. But I guess the above is what happens when a person gets to choose their own fantasy land.

Nowadays, a trip through the wardrobe is usually at Victoria’s Secret and leads a person to Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

Why don’t schools keep gender/sex discussions off the table to avoid triggering those fragile little immature students. If they get triggered by the reality of only two genders just send them home to mommy.

“arguing it was unfair to expect vulnerable students to defend their identities in front of professors and their peers.”

If you cannot defend your position, maybe that is evidence that your position is inherently indefensible. Then again, introspection has never been one of the Left’s strong points – if they have any strong points at all…

Thank God they didn’t invite an actual biologist to the discussion of biology. Facts are triggering.
