Brown University students report on-campus break-ins, thefts
The Brown University Department of Public Safety is urging students to be aware of their surroundings after two students reported their rooms were broken into on campus last week.
The students, who live in Vartan Gregorian Quad A, reported the breaking and entering Friday night, according to a university alert posted over the weekend.
The students’ rooms were unoccupied and unlocked at the time, according to the university. Both students claimed their laptops and iPads were stolen.
The university added that a third student reported being in his room with the door ajar when three to four individuals peeked inside.
The student claimed the individuals did not enter his room after noticing it was occupied and ran away. He said the individuals were wearing masks.
The university said one of the individuals was believed to be wearing tight black jeans and a pair of Nike Jordan sneakers.
No students were threatened or injured. It’s unclear if the individuals were students or had access to the building.
