Hamas’ brutal terrorist attack on peaceful Israeli civilians was justified, according to a New York City health department staffer who focuses on “mental health” issues.
As New York City’s Muslim Mayor Zohran Mamdani takes the reins of the Big Apple, further attention is being paid to the government employees who may be harboring deep antisemitic hatred.
Among these is Achmat Akkad. “According to Akkad’s LinkedIn, he is a Mental Health First Aid Trainer at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene,” National Review reported.
This concern for psychological issues apparently does not extend to the trauma of witnessing the murder of innocent Israelis, however.
“I think at some point you can’t ignore the injustice that continues to happen in Palestine and not think there is going to be consequences,” Akkad said during an October 8, 2023, pro-Palestinian protest in New York City.
“You can’t keep two million people locked up in a cage, denying their freedom, and expect them to be peaceful,” he told the Daily Mail. “It doesn’t work that way.”
As detailed by the Washington Free Beacon and Canary Mission, Akkad has a long, disturbing history of making antisemitic remarks and calling for the destruction of Israel.
He has worked for the city since 2015. The Canary Mission mistakenly calls him a “Mamdani appointee.”
“1 Israeli left in this world would be one too many,” Akkad previously wrote on X.
“Israel exists by sacrificing the blood of Black and brown people as an offering to white supremacy,” he also reportedly wrote.
Meanwhile, Akkad’s co-workers have recently launched a “Global Oppression Working Group” within the health department. It meets during the day and is zeroed in on Israel, the New York Post first reported.
“We really developed in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine,” one presenter said.
“And the working group aims to address the growing interests among the health department staff to learn about current and ongoing global oppression in its many forms and how it influences the advancement of health equity,” the person added.
The revelations come as questions are being raised about Mayor Mamdani’s appointments to various positions across the city government.
The Free Beacon reported on Feb. 9 that these appointees include “a cadre of anti-Israel extremists,” some of whom, to no surprise, also want the police abolished.
