Idaho Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Ambulance to Torch DHS Building

Police in Idaho arrested Sarah Elizabeth George, 43, for allegedly stealing an ambulance to torch a DHS building.

George faces two charges:

According to the affidavit, George stole the ambulance on February 18 outside of St. Luke’s Hospital while the crew was inside transporting a patient.

The affidavit said CCTV caught George loading “at least two gas jugs and a bag inside the ambulance, which appeared to have been stashed behind bushes on the edge of the parking lot” before she drove off.

Authorities claimed George then drove to the DHS building, crashed into the front doors, and entered the lobby. She poured gasoline on the floor.

Luckily, the police arrived before George could set fire to the building. She fled on foot and escaped the officers.

I’m glad no one was hurt.

The police, ATF, and the FBI searched surveillance video from local gas stations, identifying a person filling gas jugs at one of them:

Shortly thereafter, officers from Meridian Police Department arrived in the vicinity and George fled the building on foot. Law enforcement was able to find surveillance video of George purchasing gasoline at a Fred Meyer gas station. Law enforcement retrieved the financial records from this transaction, and business records for Fred Meyer indicate that she used a rewards/loyalty card in her name (Sarah Elizabeth George). This caused law enforcement to research her name in the Idaho DMV database. They found her entry. The description matches the physical characteristics of what was observed. Additionally, law enforcement found a truck, matching the truck as observed at Walmart and Fred Meyer, registered to Russell and Crystal George (relation unknown). Additionally, law enforcement observed this truck and noted similarities to the actual truck seen in surveillance footage. Additionally, law enforcement found what appears to be George’s Facebook page. It apparently contains adverse political positions against ICE/DHS.

During the investigation, law enforcement found surveillance video from a Walmart showing George purchasing items she had “during the commission of the crime.”

For crying out loud, people. Every business has CCTV. Places like Walmart have cameras at every register.

Authorities also posted pictures from social media accounts they believe belong to George. I’m shocked at what they found.

“(They) did an amazing job over the last five days, working long hours, working diligently to positively identify Ms. George and bring her into custody,” said MPD Chief Tracy Basterrechea. “Really, it was good, old-fashioned police work that got us to where we’re at tonight. These investigators literally went door-to-door looking for possible camera footage, possible witnesses, and other information and evidence.”

Basterrechea mentioned that the investigators have to search around 16 square miles.

“So if you can imagine that footprint and the amount of time it took them and the amount of effort that it took,” Basterrechea added. “This coupled with their knowledge of technology helped to identify George as our suspect.”

Basterrechea believes George could face more charges.

The two charges George faces could land her in prison for five to 20 years.
