Gavin Newsom Tells World Leaders in Munich They Can Just Wait Out Trump’s Presidency

“Donald Trump is temporary. He’ll be gone in three years.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom was one of the 2028 Democratic hopefuls in Munich this week for the security conference. Naturally, he used the opportunity to bash Trump, mostly on his climate policies.

He also told people there that they can basically wait out Trump’s presidency. This is interesting because many leaders in higher education are clearly taking this approach. It’s also funny because Newsom is admitting that Trump will leave office at the end of his second term, despite all of the ‘dictator’ hysteria from other members of his party.

GOV. GAVIN NEWSOM: Donald Trump is doubling down on stupid.

California has been a leader in climate policy going back to Ronald Reagan. In 1967, Governor Ronald Reagan established the first tailpipe emissions standards in the United States of America and created the California Air Resources Board. Three years later, a president by the name of Richard Nixon — another Republican — codified California’s leadership under the Clean Air Act.

Never in the history of the United States of America has there been a more destructive president than the current occupant in the White House in Washington, D.C. He’s trying to recreate the 19th century. He’s a wholly owned subsidiary of big oil, gas, and coal. He’s quite literally reopening coal plants in the United States of America.

He’s received close to half a billion dollars in campaign contributions. He asked for $1 billion — look it up — in return for basically eliminating all regulations in the United States of America. De facto, he just did that yesterday with federal regulations and the endangerment finding.

It is code red in terms of American leadership in this space — low-carbon, green growth — and I know a thing or two about this. I represent the fourth-largest economy, from a GDP perspective, in the world, and we ran the fourth-largest economy last year nine out of ten days on 100% clean energy — two-thirds renewable energy…

Final word. I hope, if there’s nothing else I can communicate today: Donald Trump is temporary. He’ll be gone in three years. California is a stable and reliable partner in this space, and it’s important for folks to understand the temporary nature of this current administration in relationship to the issue of climate change and climate policy.

Watch the video below:

Leave it to him to praise China’s climate policies.

This is nothing more than Newsom auditioning for president. His desire for the role couldn’t be more obvious.

I wonder where his confidence comes from? The Democrats must have the “super” cheat planned for 2028 that will guarantee them complete control of the Federal Government.

2028 is a pivotal year, and the Democrats know it. The next president will oversee the census and reapportionment.

The list of democratic losers auditioning in Munich for the global masters is long and undistinguished, They are a menace to this country. A pox on all of them.

I guess the old “politics stop at the ocean’s edge” policy is kaput.

That’s what America haters do; take it to foreign countries and tell them how to resist/disparage/end run America.

Why he should be called “Gavin Noisome:”

    “noisome /noi′səm/

    adjective

    1) Offensive to the point of arousing disgust; foul.
    “a noisome odor.”

    2) Harmful or dangerous.
    “noisome fumes.”

    3) Noxious to health; hurtful; mischievous; unwholesome; insalubrious; destructive.
    “noisome effluvia”

Similar: hurtful mischievous unwholesome insalubrious destructive

Waiting out Trump’s presidency is the left’s main plain with the intention of making the last two years very much like the last two of his first term.

Yeah. Just like Germany “outwaited” Trump’s warning about Russian gas.

Then there’s the fact that Trump, even the 2.0 version, is the ‘good cop/more reasonable’ version of center/right populism that is MAGA/Tea Party/Perot Movement. What comes AFTER Trump to work on issues and priorities thwarted by d/prog and globalist/neocon/corporatist power structure will far less reasonable or restrained. IOW trying to stiff arm and delay policies of the Trump admin in hope that once he’s out of office what follows will be easier to deal with is ultimately a losing strategy; Trump is the guy who likes to make deals, the rest of us are less willing to compromise and more prone to using the same sort of tactics the d/prog routinely use…+ another 20% more vigorously just to make sure they absorb the lessen.

The left cannot allow themselves to understand this point.

To them, the only way they can see to turning out Democrats, both dead and alive, to vote for them is to keep them hyper outraged! So there is absolutely no chance in hell that Democrats will ever understand the point you are making.

The simply cannot allow themselves to do anything rational when it comes to working with this administration.

The lead in to the mid terms is going to be absolutely outrageous from the Democrats and their regime media allies. They will be purposely dialling up the outrage to eleventy eleven!

IMO this spring/summer gonna be lit with all sorts of loony anarchist rent a mob crap. I really think the Cray Cray in MN, LA and elsewhere on full display for normies to see has jarred some Indy voters and hardened center/right voters against these lefty d/prog antics. Add the Fraud across multiple different programs on top and average folks who don’t pay Mich attention can clearly see that $ billions in fraud + violent mobs are real problem.

As it relates to tailpipe emissions, we long ago reached the point of diminishing returns.

This is especially true of diesel engines. Today’s – ok, yesterday’s – regulations caused diesels to choke on their own exhaust. If you’ve never operated a heavy duty truck, it’s a special kind of frustration when the truck decides to go into limp mode.

And if the fire truck responding to your house fire goes into limp mode – as happens – well, good luck to you.

And specifically to California, they want more emissions regulations on locomotives. The efficiency of freight trains (tons moved per mile) is insane.

I have my beefs with Trump but this greasy piece of 💩 needs to stay home and fix his own mess before he opines on the performance of others.

Dimsdale in reply to Peter Moss. | February 14, 2026 at 10:03 pm

Agreed. EGR in gasoline engines is workable; in Diesels, it simply clogs the engine with soot, choking the engine and requiring a deep, expensive cleaning. See: Dave’s Automotive reels. His shop works on/modifies Diesel engines and Diesel experts like Gale Banks, so he knows whereof he speaks.

The EPA has done everything it can to destroy Diesel engines in this country.

Can’t hate them enough

Greasy, vile and incompetent narcissist, Newsolini, is already strutting and preening for the foreign cameras, as if he’s POTUS.

Commiefornia is a manifest disaster, fiscally, economically, quality-of-life-wise, etc., yet, Newsolini can’t be bothered to actually govern his wretched state and attempt to solve its innumerable problems.

guyjones in reply to guyjones. | February 14, 2026 at 6:42 pm

Perhaps Newsolini can explain to his leftist, European fellow travelers, why innumerable founders, entrepreneurs, billionaires and companies are fleeing his failed state, at light-speed, to seek more hospitable financial climes?

sarc. But . . . but . . . the Dems/Progs have been assuring me that Trump will declare himself president for life and refuse to leave office after his second term has run its course!

But when we get to the year 2016, we’ll reach the “tipping point” at which point global warming will doom the world, irrespective presidencies . . . so why worry about what will happen 12 years after 2016?

I’m so confused . . . /sarc

Not sure how this isn’t working against the Federal government.
Ohhh, telling them the Marxists will soon take over.

Milhouse in reply to Skip. | February 15, 2026 at 1:53 am

It is working against the federal government. What’s wrong with that?

Newsome isn’t Trump’s employee, in any sense whatsoever, and owes him no loyalty. He’s entitled to oppose his policies, in any forum he likes.

The old convention that politics stop at the water came from a time when both major parties shared a view of the USA’s global interests, and differed only on domestic policy. If they had a difference in foreign policy it was only in the details, not the major points. So it made sense for both parties to present the rest of the world with a united front. That is no longer the case, so the old convention no longer makes any sense. It made no sense when 0bama was actively and deliberately trying to make Iran a regional power at the USA’s expense, and it makes no sense now when the Democrats’ policy is to keep running the USA into the ground with “climate policy” and such other nonsense.

I’m not so sure . . . I thought the purpose, or at least strong reason, was to abide by the idea we are one nation, and to honor the decision of US voters for having decided what course our foreign policy would take for the near future.

California has been a leader in climate policy going back to Ronald Reagan. Three years later, a president by the name of Richard Nixon — another Republican — codified California’s leadership under the Clean Air Act.

Whatever these measures’ merits or defects, neither of them had anything to do with “climate policy”. They were regulating actual pollutants, not CO2, and they had no notion that there was anything wrong with the climate, let alone that they could or should fix it.

Hope that the Europeans are not so stupid that they fall for the Newsom Sleaze and the AOC Idiocy campaigns.
