Sorry, Dems: Ilhan Omar Finance Investigation Began on Biden’s Watch

“The Justice Department under the Biden administration opened an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar … in 2024 to scrutinize her finances, campaign spending and interactions with a foreign citizen …”

President Donald Trump came under fire for referencing a Justice Department investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) curious finances after a Monday Truth Social post.

You may recall that, over a one-year period, Omar’s net worth — combined with her husband Tim Mynett’s — reportedly skyrocketed to the $6 million to $30 million range in 2024 from approximately $30,000 the previous year, according to congressional financial disclosure forms filed by the congresswoman herself.

Trump wrote:

Additionally, the DOJ and Congress are looking at “Congresswoman” Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT

[It’s unclear where the $44 million figure came from.]

Responding to the remarks on X, Omar denied any wrongdoing and claimed that Trump’s “support is collapsing,” and he’s “panicking.” According to Omar, Trump’s attacks on her were an attempt to “deflect from [his] failures” and called on the president to “get [his] goons out of Minnesota.”

Alas, it was The New York Times that set the record straight. The paper of record reported on Monday night that the DOJ’s investigation into the anti-Trump, antisemitic, anti-American congresswoman was initiated in June 2024 by the Biden DOJ.

The Justice Department under the Biden administration opened an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, in 2024 to scrutinize her finances, campaign spending and interactions with a foreign citizen, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The truth is that Omar’s sudden wealth has raised eyebrows on both sides of the political aisle.

According to Fox News:

Two of her husband’s business ventures, a Santa Rosa, California-based winery and a Washington, D.C.–based venture capital firm, account for the bulk of the reported assets.

Federal disclosure forms do not list exact amounts, instead reporting assets in broad ranges; the figures shown in the chart below reflect the midpoint of those ranges for comparison.

The winery, listed as eStCru LLC, saw its reported valuation jump from a range of $15,000 to $50,000 in 2023 to between $1 million and $5 million the following year.

Rose Lake Capital showed an even sharper increase, rising from a reported value of between $1 and $1,000 in 2023 to an asset range of $5 million to $25 million in 2024.

Separately, Fox News published a weekend exposé on Mynett’s longtime business partner, William Hailer, whom they reported has “settled multiple lawsuits after being accused of defrauding investors in cannabis and wine ventures” with Mynett.

Given the recent allegations of massive fraud in Minnesota, and the large number of Somalis already convicted in the $250 million Feeding Our Futures scandal, the eye-popping growth of Omar’s and Mynett’s net worth in such a brief span predictably raises questions.

The Biden DOJ was right to open an investigation — although I’m surprised they did.

And Trump is right to continue it. In the end, as he wrote in his Truth Social post, “Time will tell all.”

“reportedly skyrocketed to the $6 million to $30 million range in 2024 from approximately $30,000 the previous year”

You mean that wasn’t all child support from her brother?

Years of “investigations” have found nothing.”

Yeah, maybe pointing that out wasn’t the brightest move.

I so want to get the Muslims to issue a fatwah against this woman for her immorality. It would be great if she has to go into hiding or has to spend her money on bodyguards protecting her from crazed muslim fanatics, Please make it happen.

That’s only 1/3% of the $9 Billion. Clearly she is not the Big Guy. He gets 10%.

They have a winery? Isn’t alcohol forbidden in islam?

Well, a few years ago I was in Erbil, Northern Iraq, having a drink in a hotel bar when this guy comes up proclaiming he was a Muslim and then disappears only to reappear a few minutes later with a round of drinks for everyone telling us that he wasn’t a particularly good Muslim 🤣

Islam permits lying under any and all circumstances. They do NOT play by sane people’s rules. It’s a top down decision operation and one must follow what the top says.

They say they use the 10 Commandments. But, what about 5 (murder), 7 (stealing), 8 (bearing false witness) 9/10 (covet what others have.) I know some protestant denominations have different numbering but these ideas are across all who supposedly live according to the 10 Commandments.

well you see thats where the problem comes in on this one:

n general, Islam teaches that lying is wrong, but there are specific circumstances where it may be permitted, such as to protect oneself from harm or to reconcile disputes.

      “or to reconcile disputes”

so the OP states “under any and all circumstances”

and a dispute would be when one is now put to that test…to tell the truth or lie

so unday any dispute they ,,per the quran would be allowed to do lie even though islam teaches to always tell the truth…except ……”protecting oneself or to resolve disputes”

hence there would be not even a need to lie if the situation was amenable

Judaism and Christianity both permit lying for those purposes too.

I’m curious and not familiar with any tenet of Christianity that says lying is ok to settle a dispute. I’m not even sure it’s universal for protecting one’s self as martyrdom is sometimes called for in scriptures when one is standing up to oppression and persecution.

Furthermore, the application of these tenets would be very different. Clearly, sects of Islam have convinced a critical mass of indivduals that terrorist acts are a holy war and that pretty much the entire Western world is the antagonist in this jihad. That means that lying with impunity to Western powers and citizenry would be justified as part of this dispute, right? Now, where’s the parallel in Christianity?

The classical source is Genesis 18:13, where God Himself lies to Avraham about what Sarah had said, for the sake of keeping the peace, and then in 18:16 Sarah lies for the same reason.

We also have Avraham and Sarah making it a policy to lie about their relationship whenever they travel to a new place, for the sake of safety.

Then in Genesis 44:21 the brothers lie to the Egyptian viceroy, claiming Joseph is dead, for fear that if they were to say he was missing he might demand that they produce him. And in 50:16-17 they lie again to Joseph, out of fear that he would harm them.

Conflating lying to keep the peace with lying to enslave your enemies is quite a step, even for you Justice Milhouse.

I’m not conflating anything. No one said anything about enslaving enemies. We are talking strictly about lying for the purpose of protecting oneself from harm, or of preserving harmony (“resolving disputes”, as destroy put it). The Bible endorses lying for those two purposes, and I know Judaism treats that as normative; I can’t imagine Christianity doesn’t.

9Then they said to him, “Where is your wife Sarah?” And he said, “There, in the tent.” 10He said, “I will certainly return to you [m]at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him. 11Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past [n]childbearing. 12So Sarah laughed [o]to herself, saying, “After I have become old, am I to have pleasure, my lord being old also?” 13But the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I actually give birth to a child, when I am so old?’ 14Is anything too [p]difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, [q]at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” 15Sarah denied it, however, saying, “I did not laugh”; for she was afraid. And He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

So, where did God lie? Sarah laughed to herself, God told Abraham that she laughed and when confronted with it, Sarah lied, but God called it on her. That’s pretty consistent.

Regarding Joseph’s brothers, nowhere does it even hint that God approved of their twisting of the truth. Joseph knew and was still forgiving to them. God does not permit lying.

          In John 8:44 it says:
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

To say that God lies and condones lying is a blatant distortion of the truth.

Muslims owning a winery….seems totally like something they would consider as a usefuly hobby investment (eye roll). They are so fond of alcohol after all.

Millhouse, I don’t see God lying in Genesis 18:13, He just quotes Sarah from the previous verse.

Genesis 18:12-13
12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”

13 Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’

What is the lie?

And Abraham lying saying that Sarah is his sister is not condoned. I have always looked at it as a weak moment in which he sinned.
And Joseph’s brothers lying about Joseph is also not a “good lie.” They were wrong to lie, and their habit of making poor choices is shown many times before that. (like when they sold Joseph into slavery in the first place)

Oh, sorry, I see Ruby Red beat me to it. I should have read more posts before posting.

Regarding the false religion Islam, the only thing I can say for certain is that the Koran does say it is good (or at least not wrong) to lie to infidels. Of course, it also says when you meet an infidel, go ahead and kill him/her.
