Mamdani Housing Czar: ‘White, Middle-Class Homeowners are a Huge Problem’

Mamdani Housing Czar: ‘White, Middle-Class Homeowners are a Huge Problem’

“Unless we can undermine the institution of homeownership and seek to provide stability in other ways, I don’t know—it’s a really difficult organizing situation we find ourselves in.”

Cea Weaver, the ‘tenant advocate’ and housing czar of the Zohran Mamdani administration, was in the news a few weeks ago when it was first revealed that she believes in collectivized housing. Now we are learning more about what she believes.

In the clip below, she describes white, middle-class homeowners as a problem. This is the sort of insane ideology you might hear on the campus of Bryn Mawr College, which Weaver attended. The point is that this woman sees home ownership as an obstacle to progress.

The people Mamdani is surrounding himself with are insane and dangerously stupid. Home ownership is one of the most basic ways that average people can build real wealth.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

‘White, Middle-Class Homeowners Are a Huge Problem’: Mamdani’s Communist Housing Czar Called To ‘Undermine the Institution of Homeownership’

Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D., N.Y.) top housing official, Cea Weaver, bemoaned “white, middle-class homeowners” during a 2021 podcast appearance. Her goal as an organizer, Weaver said, is to “undermine the institution of homeownership.”

“White, middle-class homeowners are a huge problem for a renter justice movement,” Weaver said in previously unreported remarks on the Bad Faith podcast in September 2021, hosted by Briahna Joy Gray, a former press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) who was fired by the Hill after rolling her eyes at the sister of a hostage in Gaza who urged Gray to believe Israeli women whom Hamas had raped. Also on the podcast was activist Arianna Afeni Evans, most famous in the D.C. area for being arrested at a metro station for fare evasion in 2025.

“Unless we can undermine the institution of homeownership and seek to provide stability in other ways, I don’t know—it’s a really difficult organizing situation we find ourselves in.”

During the podcast episode, Weaver laid out a plan to use the government to attack landlords and prevent them from evicting tenants, in addition to fighting against homeownership.

“We need a national movement to pass universal rent control to limit landlords’ ability to endlessly profit on our homes, to give tenants the right to form a tenants’ union where they live, and to really block evictions,” she said. “But rent control is not enough: People need money. We need to tax billionaires and transform that into cash assistance for renters. And we need to chip away at homeownership, and that means—that means Medicare for All, that means, like, a deep investment in real social service programs.”

Watch the video:

Last week, the editors of National Review wrote the following about Weaver:

Mamdani’s Commie Housing Official Is a Lunatic

Venture aloud that the new mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, might just have a touch of the communist about him, and you will run immediately into a wall of indignant pedantry. “He’s not a communist,” his apologists will insist. He’s a “communitarian.” Other preferred substitutions include “collectivist,” “Fabian,” “democratic socialist,” and, in the less intellectually inclined depths of the well, “just, like, someone who cares about other people.”

Whatever. A commie by any other name still smells as foul. Besides, far more important than whether Mamdani wishes to be more closely associated with the Judean People’s Front or the People’s Front of Judea is what he is actually doing with his power — and, alas, what Mamdani is actually doing with his power is appointing lunatics such as Cea Weaver to run the Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants. Given that New York City has more people living in rented housing than any other American city has residents, this is a position from which a great deal of mischief can be made.

If Cea Weaver did not exist, one would be hard-pressed to invent her.

Not all that much difference in practical effect between leftist wokiestas like her and institutions buying up single family homes…whether Klaus Schwab or Blackstone pushing the agenda either way the end state result is ‘you’ll own nothing and be happy’.

She’s been convinced she has privilege but the error is that privilege isn’t based on race but on socioeconomic class and as a female she retains the remnants of prerogatives, privilege and in some respects beneficial legal presumptions based on her sex. That’s the fault of society at large, 3rd wave feminism and the indoctrination regime of our educational system.

In fairness $1.6 million doesn’t go all that far in NYC as compared to other places. Most of that ‘value’ is due to inflation, asset bubble, overly loose Fed reserve policy keeping rates far too low for decades so that ain’t ‘real’ value it’s ponzi value/grater fool theory value. Heck in my area $1.6 million would get you a recreation of the ‘South Fork Ranch house from ‘Dallas’ and a good amount of acreage.

Her mother is a professor at Vanderbilt in Tennessee. I imaging 1.6M goes pretty far there still.
Oddly enough her father is in real estate and owns several rental properties. Father issues maybe or perhaps she is just another child of privilege cos-playing as a radical communist.

More and more I’m convinced that giving women the vote set in motion the destruction of this country and developing a birth control pill accelerated it. Third wave feminism is just a eventually and expected result of it.

Nashville, while not as outrageous as NYC is far above the National average home price. It has become one the ‘it’ cites outside the bi coastal areas for transplants to move into.

I think its a mistake to put direct blame on the 19th A or the pill. Both are tools that can be used responsibly or irresponsibly depending on the choices and ideology of the user.

The real issue is what societal changes impacted the those choices. Frankly I’d argue that adding no fault divorce without a corresponding change to remove incentives to file it was a larger issue. If we eliminated alimony from no fault divorce and went to a presumptive 50/50 physical/legal custody model for all divorce then the financial incentives to file divorce and destroy nuclear family (basic building block of civilization) would end and as a result there would be less divorce and far better choices about whom to marry.

Still, $1.6 million buys you a very nice home, in Nashville, even if the housing market has appreciated and heated up, there. The Mohammedan’s prostitute grew up in comfort and privilege; that’s the bottom line.

This twit is cosplaying as a neo-communist revolutionary, but, she comes from the privileged and comfortable life of kulaks/bourgeoisie.

          The red pill guys say:

Men sacrifice their happiness for their family
Women sacrifice their family for their happiness

          Also

Women’s single friends strive to have their friends also be single.

While I agree that divorce screws things up I kind of thing women would continue
to initiate divorces even with the changes you mentioned. The popular culture, their women friends, their mother, and the lack of a father has driven their internal programming to the current state.

I would agree the 19th amendment and pill are acceleratory factors, We’ve both commented on how much of the progressive unrest is female driven and much of the demand for change is female driven. I can go on and out how women mucked things up in corporations and government because their priorities and methods of interaction and control are different from males and not in a good why in my opinion. In all this they are aided and abetted by the simps. Ugh. Biology can be a terrible thing.

          ztakddot,

IMO the financial risk of filing a no fault divorce undy my proposal would seriously reduce the # of filings. Under my proposal there’s no alimony and no child support b/c there’s 50/50 physical and legal custody. In essence we treat a no fault divorce like a mutual decision to end a relationship and both parties go their separate ways.

In traditional divorce we keep alimony but it would be for a limited period say no longer than 3 years and the amount would be far less. No ‘lifestyle’ claims just subsistence level payments basically full time federal min wage which at $7.25 is $14,500 a year max. No child support due to presumptive 50/50 physical and legal custody. Only direct evidence of being an unfit Parent should overcome that presumption and it should be the exact same standard that the child welfare agencies use to remove a child.

Will some still get tally into it by their friends? Sure but without a financial guarantee/lifeline there will be far more hesitation to pull the trigger.

I have no problem with your proposal. It’s reasonable and better than what we have now,

Now as to what women would do it would depend upon whether they are a gold digger or a girl boss. A girl boss would leave. A gold digger would stay, At least that is what I think would happen today.

Ms. Weaver’s strategy is to lower the value of apartment buildings in NYC by freezing rents, raising property taxes and instituting an even more cumbersome inspection regime. The buildings will lose ALL of their value, landlords will default on property taxes and the City will swoop in and buy the distressed properties and convert them to public housing.

Economic self-interest will not be denied. Weaver and Mamdani’s strategy is a self-fulfilling catastrophe that has failed every time it has been tried. The victims will be the citizens of New York City, who voted for this insanity.

And I for one will have no sympathy for NYC residents once Mamdani’s socialist utopia falls flat on its face like a flan in the oven and NYC becomes a socialist he**hole. I’ll just laugh that they thought that this time the socialist dream would work when all evidence of history points to the contrary.

That is similar to happened starting in 1964, except it was a massive transfer of home equity and destruction of public schools.

With her belief that home ownership is a problem also, she will try similar tactics on single family homes to try to turn them into City owned property.

I wonder how they are plotting to actually make them appear to be City property while they and their cronies get title to the property.

Portland has knocked 85% off the market value of some downtown office buildings. I wonder when the Chinese will swoop in and pick up some bargains. Convince me this wasn’t all by design.

So…..she considers herself a problem? She should fix the problem and give up her home, salary, and position to some one who deserves them.

Note that Milei just proved that rent control harms consumers. He banned rent control in Argentina and rents dropped AND the amount of available housing went up.

So her rhetoric about doing it to help people is BS. We have CURRENT evidence rent control causes more harm than good. Yet she persists in pursuing it.

Because it gives her power. And that is her real goal.

She reminds me of the woman running the former home of Dr Zhivago after he gets back from his years of being forced to be a Doctor during the wars against the Czar. She immediately demands to see his papers. Tells him the home now provides shelter to 15 families. She is a communist who thinks communism has never been implemented correctly.

I remember watching that on network TV as a child. I was maybe 9 or 10 and it didn’t make sense. I kept asking my Parents why this guy was coming home from war and all these people were in his house. It didn’t seem fair to me and my Parents struggled to provide a rationale ..b/c there isn’t a fair one. Communism is the ultimate example that taxation is theft. My poor Parents, both very conservative, trying to explain communism to a naive child is one of my most humorous memories.

In case anyone mistakenly took her title to mean she was some sort of a tenant’s consumer protection zealot, now we are discovering Tenant Advocate means this Commie filth wants to turn everyone into tenants in government housing. When she says home ownership is a problem, she means the wealth it gives average people makes them too independent—better to her if people are slaves dependent on government housing. It’s way beyond time to view filthy leftist as enemies of America and to defend ourselves accordingly.

The Achilles heel of capitalism has always been the temptation to maximize profits by marketing useless things to people who can’t afford them, thereby creating a bubble that can be exited by the truly savvy right before it bursts. Creating unsustainable consumer expectations leads to class envy and eventually this will be exploited by demagogues eager to enhance their own power and wealth via a revolutionary event. This process has been accelerated by technology that clearly amplifies instability, so those who can probably do need to exit NYC soon before it bursts.

White ethnics are the Scot’s-Irish of the 20th century.
We share no guilt for what Saxons like weaver and her ancestors did, yet Aryan Nazis like Weaver and Millie Sherrill and Hillary and Reinhard Spanberger et al dilute their guilt by smearing it onto ethnics .
Not only are we innocent of their crimes, we have been far more victims of black racism than vice versa.
