China, Russia, Iran Condemn Capture of Venezuela’s Maduro; Hezbollah Decries ‘American Arrogance’

EU says it is “closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela”; UK Prime Minister Starmer: “I can be absolutely clear that we were not involved.”

China, Russia, and Iran were among the first to “condemn” the U.S. Special Forces operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. On early Sunday morning, a U.S. Army’s Delta Force team arrested Maduro and his wife at a military base near Caracas on charges of narco-terrorism in a flawlessly executed covert operation.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry “strongly condemned” the capture of narco-terrorist Maduro. China “firmly opposed” the “blatant use of force” against the suspected narco-terrorist, a spokesman for the ministry said.

Maduro’s ouster is a significant setback to China’s efforts to establish a foothold in Latin America. According to The South China Morning Post, the U.S. nighttime operation “came just hours after Maduro met the special representative of the Chinese government on Latin American affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi, in Caracas.” Beijing is “Venezuela’s largest oil buyer, with crude often shipped through intermediaries,” the Chinese daily noted.

Moscow toed Beijing’s line, “condemning” the U.S. action. “This morning, the United States committed an act of armed aggression against Venezuela,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “This is deeply concerning and condemnable.”

It is worth noting that Russia recently upgraded Venezuela’s air defenses by reportedly delivering Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2 surface-to-air missile systems earlier this year.

France’s Le Monde reported the reactions of Venezuela’s leading allies — Russia, Cuba, and Iran:

Russia condemned what it called a US “act of armed aggression” against Venezuela in a statement posted on its Telegram channel Saturday. “We are extremely alarmed by reports that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were forcibly removed from the country as a result of today’s US aggression. We call for an immediate clarification of the situation,” the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement. The ministry called for dialogue to prevent further escalation and said it reaffirmed its “solidarity” with the Venezuelan people and government, adding that Russia supports calls for an emergency UN Security Council meeting.

Cuba, a traditional regional ally, denounced what it called “state terrorism against the brave Venezuelan people” according to a statement by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who urged a “response from the international community” following a “criminal attack” on Caracas.

Iran, which has close links with oil-rich Venezuela, said it “strongly condemns the US military attack on Venezuela and a flagrant violation of the country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Ahead of Sunday’s covert operation, China and Russia strongly backed the Venezuelan dictator in his confrontation with Washington. “China and Russia have expressed support for Venezuela,” as President “Trump continues to ramp up his pressure campaign on the South American country’s president, Nicolás Maduro,” British newspaper The Guardian reported on December 23.

Lebanon’s Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, which is heavily involved in the Latin American drug trade and money laundering, condemned Maduro’s capture, the Jerusalem Post reports:

Hezbollah stated that it “condemns the terrorist aggression and American thuggery against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela” and “further affirms its full solidarity with Venezuela – its people, presidency, and government – in confronting this American aggression and arrogance.”

The European response was muted, with the EU’s de facto Foreign Minister, Kaja Kallas, saying that Brussels “is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela” following Maduro’s capture. “The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr. Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition,” the top EU envoy wrote on X, tacitly welcoming the move.

The German Foreign Minister announced that it was following the developments in Venezuela “with the greatest concern.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, tanking in the polls at home, distanced himself from the U.S. action against the Venezuelan dictator. “I can be absolutely clear that we were not involved,” he declared.

By all means, we should listen and comply with China, Russia, Iran, Hezb’allah, and congressional democrats and turn Maduro loose!

Iran had Russian state of the art air defense systems as well. Had. Russian military equipment is garbage.

Especially when your Chinese telecom equipment never rings to notify you you ought to be using that Russian equipment.

amatuerwrangler | January 3, 2026 at 2:15 pm

It looks like all the right people are upset by this…. including the Democrats in congress.

Note to Jeffries: Of course congress was not notified ahead of time. The Democrats would have jammed the phone lines in their attempts to warn Maduro, their “brother in arms”.

Great weekend for Neocons.

And millions of others that know a door is open to something better. Pretenders wanted to help but when help arrives show it was hot air.

Pretty sure Bill Krystol and Jonah Goldberg agrees with you.

CommoChief in reply to SeymourButz. | January 3, 2026 at 3:54 pm

Nah. The neocon/globalists only want military adventures on very far distant shores. They don’t want the USA focused on regional threats within our hemisphere b/c that would mean less room for shenanigans halfway around the world.

Use military in our hemisphere to mitigate/remove actual direct threats to our National Security = good use of America 1st. Very different than the opposite America last where we expend blood/treasure halfway around the world where there’s only a tertiary at best threat to the USA homeland.

    And Jews right?

I think Iran has bigger issues to deal with 🤣🤣

Predictable to see which Americans side with China, Russia, Iran, and others with ill will for America, including their American enablers.

UK Prime Minister Starmer: “I can be absolutely clear that we were not involved.” No kidding!

henrybowman in reply to Whitewall. | January 3, 2026 at 5:15 pm

Keith, it was down to notifying either you or
Rosie O’Donnell, and finally Trump said,
    “Ah, **** em both!”

Do something about it China, Iran, Russia, Cuba and European Union.

China’s upset:

Chinese intelligence had no idea Sum Ting Wong. They had just reaffirmed an “all-weather strategic partnership” and reviewed over 600 bilateral agreements with Maduro less than 12 hours before he would go bye bye.

‘American Arrogance’

Yep, that was a wake-up call to Iran, China, and Russia knowing that our SF guys can pluck a country dictator and his wife out of their bedroom and spirit them away to New York.

Do I think it was a wise move – Nope.

I’m sure Starmer wasn’t involved after all there were no Pakistani male predators to protect, nor fake countries of Palestine to recognize, as this is the extent of his strategic skills. No recognition for countries with real boundaries, histories/cultures, government systems, civil societies, and agreed upon leadership though like Somaliland and Kurdistan. Just fantasy lands like “palestine.” So of course no leadership on global narcoterrorism just deer in the headlights. Europe can’t tell what’s happening in their own countries let alone have an intelligent and informed strategy for south america or the middle east. I wish so much love to the Venezuelan people, may this lead to real lasting change and freedom for them. Hopefully Iran is next.

I was kind of meh about this whole matter but now I’m 1000% for it based upon who is against it. Thank you China and Russia. Thank you Iran and Cuba, Thank you democrats. You have helped me reach clarity of thought,

Milhouse in reply to ztakddot. | January 4, 2026 at 4:52 pm

But of course they were all going to be against it. That was always a given. That’s not enough of a reason to support it. It may turn out to be a bad idea, even though it pisses off all the right people. Let’s hope it doesn’t.

Certainly so far it’s working, and that’s good; let’s hope it keeps on working.

So all of the evi[ people don’t like it. Sounds like the right thing was done.

Mamdani had more than just angry tweets, however — he phoned President Trump to express his outrage over the administration’s actions. I would have loved to sit in on that call.

It would seem as if Trump replied with something along the lines of, “Thanks for your input, have a nice day” (or maybe, “bless your heart”):

Only thing I would say, hope Trump has HIS guards guarding the couple… would hate to see a successful “prison break”

Milhouse in reply to gonzotx. | January 4, 2026 at 4:55 pm

I don’t know what you mean by “his guards”. They’re in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons, which ultimately reports to him, but I don’t think he has his own people inside it.

If you’re worried about Mamdani breaking them out, he has no control over it. He can’t even get in to the building to go visit them if he wants to.

Dimsdale in reply to gonzotx. | January 5, 2026 at 7:26 am

I get the distinct impression that Mamdani thinks that People’s Republic of Gothamistan is some kind of world power in his call to the PRESIDENT.

    What a putz.

StillNeedToDrainTheSwamp | January 3, 2026 at 6:56 pm

Fully support this action. But I have to admit there’s seems to be a huge risk as to what happens in a NYC court on Monday and the weeks / months ahead.

Comment on the Daily Mail ” best ” section, which said ” Please Mr Trump, whilst you are at it, come and collect Starmer. “

The lack of self awareness in these countries and our domestic terrorist Democrats is simply astounding.

Dimsdale in reply to Dimsdale. | January 5, 2026 at 7:21 am

    Indeed.
Russia: Ukraine and all that Soviet rot.
    China: Tibet, Kashmir and Taiwan
Iran: endless sponsor of terrorism and direct bombing of Israel.
Cuba: advisors and suppliers to every evil/communist regime imaginable
Democrats: Fifth Columnists in America and sponsors of domestic terrorism
The NORKS: random missiles flying everywhere and nuclear advisors to the ME.

It seems that projection is a mainstay of communist based propaganda. That, and an utter lack of self awareness, real or manufactured. (I vote for the latter)

If “what, me worry” is their new mantra, they might consider using Pete Buttigieg as their public face. My only concern is how the Somalis will make a buck off it.

China just got slapped upside the head. All that money lent to Venezuela gone. Never to be repaid. Oil shipments from Russia and Venezuela gone.
Russia complains about America taking action against a Narco-terrorist state is rich with irony. I seem to remember that Russia is in a “meat grinder” war that they initiated. (I never wanted the US involved) Will Vlad and Zelensky now close the deal? They’ve seen how the President’s patience is finite.
Iranian mullahs your days in power are numbered. Your toe hold in South America is over. It was your bases that were bombed. Iran this is your final warning. I’ll bet all those protesters will redouble their efforts after this successful mission.
Demonrats once again are showing how much they hate America. They demonstrate that they are against stopping the flow of drugs into America and at the same time bemoan the downfall of a Narco-terrorist regime.
Mexico your next.
The Columbian President might want to resign.

MartelCharlie3 | January 4, 2026 at 9:25 am

Tell Mexico they are next.

I think that America just restored its flagging position as the beacon of hope for the world, and the communist tyrants are understandably unhappy.

I hope PRESIDENT Trump sent a Christmas card to George Soros….

AF_Chief_Master_Sgt | January 5, 2026 at 11:24 am

Russia: Unilateral attack on Ukraine while Biden was napping.

China: Too many killed by this regime to count. Foisted an international pandemic on the world that killed untold millions. Will attack Taiwan if given a Biden minute.

Iran: Bitch, please.

Hezbollah. The US captured a dictator after he was indicted in a court. Hezbollah r@ped and murder thousands in Israel. You got a lot of f’n nerve you goat f#ckers.

Cuba. Uh huh. Killing Cubans since 1960. .
