Chicago Teachers Union Focused on Protesting ‘War on Venezuela’ for Some Reason
“The Chicago Teachers Union on Saturday promoted a protest of the Trump administration’s action in Venezuela hosted by a who’s who of far-left organizations, including a group that openly supports socialism.”
Over the weekend, the Chicago Teachers Union announced an ’emergency protest’ for ‘no war on Venezuela.’ If you’re wondering what this has to do with teaching kids how to read and do math, you’re not alone.
EMERGENCY PROTEST: NO WAR ON VENEZUELA. STOP THE BOMBINGS.
Join us in the streets to demand an end to U.S. aggression against Venezuela.

FOX News reports:
Chicago Teachers Union promotes Venezuela regime change protests organized by socialist groups
The Chicago Teachers Union on Saturday promoted a protest of the Trump administration’s action in Venezuela hosted by a who’s who of far-left organizations, including a group that openly supports socialism.
Activists from the ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition, along with activists from the Party for Socialism and Liberation, organized just hours after news that Venezuela’s socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro had been captured by U.S. special forces in a daring mission during the dead of night. By Saturday afternoon, protesters in cities across the nation came together with signs and promotional material made specially for the occasion.
At 1 p.m. local time, the Chicago Teachers Union posted a flyer on its official X account promoting the protests, and directing activists to gather at Federal Plaza at 5 p.m.
“EMERGENCY PROTEST: NO WAR ON VENEZUELA. STOP THE BOMBINGS,” the post said. “Join us in the streets to demand an end to U.S. aggression against Venezuela.”
The flyer was emblazoned with the same message as the post, but also listed cosponsors for the event.
You fools orchestrated "No Kings" protests a few months ago and now you're defending a dictator. You can't make this stuff up. https://t.co/hIrnVq2g4W pic.twitter.com/r9WF7PE4Gt

Professor Jonathan Turley reminds us that this union has a history with Venezuela.
The Chicago Teachers Union has protested Maduro's arrest. Union members previously went to Venezuela and praised conditions under the regime. https://t.co/NKTJ5FzIn1

This piece by Turley is from August of 2019:
“We Didn’t See A Single Homeless Person”: Chicago Teacher’s Union Members Fly To Venezuela In Show Of Support
Venezuela is a humanitarian and civil liberties disaster. The repressive regime of Nicolás Maduro has been condemned around the world for its campaign of killings, arrests, and torture with the help of hundreds of Cuban intelligence officers. The free press and any dissent has been brutally destroyed as the nation itself reduced to pre-industrial standards. Beyond Cuba, North Korea, and other authoritarian regimes, Venezuela has few friends . . . . except union teachers from Chicago. The delighted picture above shows the delegation of union teachers who flew to Venezuela in support of one of the most blood-soaked regimes in the world. The picture reportedly shows Richard Berg (Organizer), strike captains Sarah Chambers (Special Education Educator), Valeria Vargas (Math Educator) and Fabiana Casas (English Educator) on Twitter after crowdfunding their trip to Venezuela.
Other Chicago teachers and a great number of Venezuelans both inside and outside of the country have condemned the trip. Yet, the CTU members praised Maduro’s government while meeting with some of the officials who have stripped reporters, lawyers, journalists, and others of their basic human rights. It was a propaganda bonanza for the Maduro regime as the four heralded the progress and struggle of the government.
The union has also announced its resolution for 2026. Again, a purely left-wing political message.
Our New Year’s resolution: Speak truth to power.
We do it in our classrooms by teaching the truth. We will protect academic freedom and ensure students learn honest, inclusive history that reflects their lives and communities.
We’ll also speak truth to power by defending Black… pic.twitter.com/WtF8hiB0Va

Is there any wonder why Chicago’s schools are failing in their most basic purpose?

I won’t be lectured to by a union that has failed so utterly, so miserably and so completely as the Chicago Teachers Union. They can join the adults at the table when Jamal can read, add 2+2 and pass an American civic exam. Until then, they can STFD & STFU.
And it’s especially rich being scolded about war by socialists. Have they reviewed the socialist body count since Marx & Engles did their thing? Probably not.
As a union, they haven’t failed in the least bit.
Their success is not measured in students served or the level of test scores.
It’s measured in padded staffing levels, members doing as little as they can, and taking dues and passing much of the take to the Democrat party.
Don’t forget getting much higher salaries. Dealing with actual students is like “ikky”. Protesting is a lot more fun.
What bombings are they referring to that they want to stop?
Those 32 Cuban imperialist mercs
They would rather do anything other than teach.
Teaching kids is so frustrating because as soon as you have them actually learning something, they leave and a new group of kids come in to take their place.
I felt the same way when I worked retail. I’d put up this beautiful display of merchandise. Then, some customer would buy something and wreck my display!
The reason why they protest is that they are completely unable to teach.
Hey Chicago parents this is what you sky high property taxes are being spent on. Too bad for your kids. Is this what you voted for?
our money and leftys agenda
is not a good mix
stop funding the blmplo army
That is an organization that needs to cease to exist. It has no purpose except for graft.
There’s a rumor going around that Chicago students will be given a special dispensation on Thursday to attend a schoolroom class instead of their regularly scheduled street demonstration.
They can’t even spell Venezuela. They sure do live any communist government being that they are a collective cesspool. They should be RICO’d. They would make Minnesota look like Mother Teresa.

Flaming stupidity and mental illness come to mind.
Culture Marxism Seminaries brainwashing kids.
No Kings, but Dictatorship is good
“We Didn’t See A Single Homeless Person”
Neither did Potemkin.
Their homeless all ended up in the US.
We have to put up with nonsense from treasonous Democrats all day long, every day, in every way.
PSA:. No good can come of tolerating their destruction and evil. Someday this has got to be stopped, and the longer we wait, the harder it will be.
