Sophomore Ella Cook, 19, Identified as First Brown University Victim
May she rest in peace.
The Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, AL, announced that one of victims at Brown University was parishioner Ella Cook:
“Many of you heard about the tragedy … And sadly, tragically, one of those people is one of our parishioners,” Rev. Craig Smalley said in livestreamed remarks.
Smalley described Cook as a “bright light” who was engaged in the church and the broader community, and “incredibly grounded and generous and faithful.”
NEW: Brown University sophomore Ella Cook, identified as one of the shooting victims, was "a devoted Christian and a committed conservative."
The announcement was made during a service at Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama.

Cook was a sophomore and vice president of the Brown Republicans.
The club wrote on X:
We are devastated to learn of the loss of our Brown College Republicans Vice President, Ella Cook.
Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and her fellow classmates. Our prayers are with her family, our Brown CR’s, and the entirety of the campus as they heal from this tragedy.

WAJ ADDS:
Most people don’t truly understand how difficult it is for conservative students on campuses like Brown (and Cornell). It takes great inner strength to stand up to the social and social media pressures to conform, and those pressures come not only from other students, but from faculty and administrators as well. At Cornell I see how brave and prepared these students need to be, because their viewpoints are questioned and attacked relentlessly and they are always outnumbered. It is particularly difficult for religious Christian students. I didn’t know Ella Cook because I was not at Brown, but I know students like Ella Cook. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
The authorities have not released the identity of the second victim.

Kash Patel’s FBI is extraordinarily bad at finding the killers of conservatives. Hopefully the shooters family comes forward like last time.
I don’t believe your comment is either fair or accurate based upon what we know (as opposed to what we suspect) happened at Brown University.
Ultimately, this is a matter to be handled by local authorities under state law. We must constantly be vigilant not to make every crime a “federal case”.
I would much rather the police conduct their investigation in a competent manner that leads to conviction instead of constantly blabbering to the press to keep them satiated.
many of us have, in the past ten or so years have begun to arrive at the conclusion that if the victim(s) are white, Conservative, Christian or Jewish, the police have a tendency to just go through the motions and if the killer (shooter) falls into their hands , they claim victory and pat the mselves on the back for great police work.
the above is particularly true when the “investigations” are being held in highly Liberal (anti-police) sections of this country
I think the FBI is very good at finding grandmothers who carry cell phones
Previously, overnight Saturday/Sunday police arrested a man named Benjamin Erickson (24) as the suspect in the Brown University attack that left two people killed and nine injured. At the time of the detainment Providence’s police chief, Col. Oscar Perez, told media, “Police are confident the man in custody is the suspected gunman.” He added he wanted to ensure that all legal requirements are met before charges are brought.
According to media reports, “the man had a unique characteristic on his firearm, the officials said, and that firearm was found when he was taken into custody.”
“We’re going to work with the attorney general’s office to make sure that we have the right legal requirements for the charges,” Perez said. “And this is, it’s just complex. There’s a lot of evidence, there’s a lot of witnesses, and so we have to make sure that we have it all tight. And to make sure we have a good case.” Perez said police cannot hold the person of interest beyond tomorrow (Sunday) if charges are not filed. He said he is hoping an arraignment will take place “sooner rather than later.”
Shortly before midnight local authorities announced they were releasing the “person of interest”, aka Benjamin Erickson, but told the community not to worry as there is no alternative threat to the community.
Hope he sues , producing his name and he’s apparently innocent
He’s a DC statehood weirdo. I hope he gets some other lesser charge for his weapons since he’s part of the group that wants those laws against him.
One assumes that students who survived the shooting have been interviewed and could give some description of the shooter?
A lot of gaps in information concerning what happened. The President did not know what class was using the classroom at the time. She’s pretty incompetent if she didn’t know how to access that information. The person of interest, we know his name! but he’s no longer of interest….
I have heard that the murderer shouted “Allah Akbar” but I may be confusing with the Bondi massacre, but I don’t think so.
I have yet to read anywhere what class they were in that room for. I think that would have been the most obvious question to help find a motive.
Reportedly a class review session for upcoming exams; Principles of Economics.
Political strategist William Branson Donahue, founder and chairman of College Republicans of America, said he is “filled with rage and sadness” over Cook’s death.
Donahue said he believed Cook “was allegedly targeted for her conservative beliefs, hunted, and killed in cold blood.”
