Report: Minnesota ‘Feeding Our Future’ Money Used for Expensive Homes, Cars, Luxury Vacations

“Where others saw a crisis and rushed to help, you saw money and rushed to steal.”

Though there have been fraud investigations in Minnesota dating back several years, and which have netted dozens of convictions, the report last month from the Manhattan Institute’s Ryan Thorpe and Christopher Rufo alleging widespread Medicaid fraud that allegedly was used to help fund a foreign-based Somali terrorist group has gotten the attention of the Trump administration – and has outraged many Americans in the process.

It’s also shone an unflattering spotlight on Minnesota and its Democratic governor and possible 2028 presidential contender, Tim Walz, in another way, by revisiting the “Feeding Our Future” fraud scandal, where taxpayer money was fraudulently obtained under the pretense of feeding hungry children during the COVID-era lockdowns.

Instead, it was used to fund lavish lifestyles, the details of which were shared in a Thursday CBS News report:

From the story:

The files document a spending spree in which defendants, many of Somali descent, took taxpayer money meant to feed hungry children and used it to buy cars, property and jewelry. Videos show them popping champagne at an opulent Maldives resort. In a text message, one defendant boasts: “You are gonna be the richest 25 year old InshaAllah [God willing].”

The documents feature exhibits from a recent federal trial, many of which are being made public by CBS News for the first time. The exhibits include:

-A confirmation email for a stay in an overwater villa with a private pool at Radisson Blu Resort Maldives
-Lakefront property in Minnesota
-Receipts showing wire transfers to China and East Africa
-First class tickets to Istanbul and Amsterdam
-A 2021 Porsche Macan
-Stacks of cash, texted between defendants

At the sentencing of a defendant who used taxpayer funds for cars and the Maldives vacation, 24-year-old Abdimajid Mohamed Nur, U.S. District Judge Nancy E. Brasel admonished him, saying: “Where others saw a crisis and rushed to help, you saw money and rushed to steal.” He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $48 million in restitution for his role in the fraud scheme.

The DOJ described Nur as playing a “key role in the fraud scheme,” and noted that he “spent his fraud proceeds freely”:

Nur spent his fraud proceeds freely.  Using the taxpayer money meant for needy kids, he purchased a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck for $64,000.  Six weeks later, he purchased a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe for $35,000.  Nur used fraud proceeds to take a honeymoon to the Maldives, where he stayed in a private villa.  He also spent $30,000 in fraud proceeds to purchase jewelry in Dubai.

[…]

In June 2024, at the conclusion of his 7-week trial, Nur and others attempted to bribe a juror with $120,000 in cash in exchange for a not guilty verdict.  Nur and four others were indicted in a separate federal case for the juror bribery scheme.  Nur has pled guilty in the juror bribery case and is pending sentencing in that case before United States District Judge David S. Doty.  Today’s sentence does not reflect Nur’s attempt to bribe a juror; he will face an additional sentence in that case at a later date.

The layers on all of the Somali-linked fraud are still being peeled back and investigated, and there undoubtedly will be more developments to come. We’ll keep you posted.

Viktor Orba, instead of Vance, for president in 2028. Don’t worry, Milhouse. He was born in Hawaii and the necessary background can be supplied in time.

“It’s also shone an unflattering spotlight on Minnesota and its Democratic governor and possible 2028 presidential contender, Tim Walz.”

Let’s be honest here. Walz couldn’t get himself elected to a one-member 4-H club at this point.

Let this be your daily reminder that a policy of importing people with an average IQ of 68 who never brought their own community out of the Stone Age cannot be expected to fare any better here in the U.S.

And that’s before we consider their demonic belief system.

How much of the money was laundered through ActBlue for demonrat donations during the 22 and 24 election cycles? They focus on the cars and trips and not on where the rest of the 48 millions went too.

I don’t understand this “fraudulently obtained” thing. Someone in the state of MN authorized those payments — who was it? That person, or persons, should be the target of the federal investigation as well. It is their responsibility to jealously guard taxpayer dollars and audit these organizations. Did they check to see what infrastructure was in place to obtain and distribute food? Did they check payments to vendors, distributors or retailers? If not, then assume they were complicit and check their financials. If they are not part of the steal then they are liable for not doing their job.

Go to a bank and ask for a loan to start a business or factory. Good luck to you if you don’t have construction blueprints along with a business plan outlining all expenses and liabilities. That bank manager would be fired — or even prosecuted — if he released money without tight vetting and scrutiny. Same with his counterpart in government who was careless with our money as well.

    Democrats only rubberstamp monetary requests by other Democrats.

    With a real administration in office, we need to crack down on this, “bigly.”

    Minnezuela needs a reverse “Blackhawk down.”

Crafting legislation that sets up a highly lootable administrative apparatus, loots the public fisc, and uses some of the money to protect the looting is a whole industry that grows and prospers as government enlarges.

These programs were feeding the futures of the denizens of that sector of the economy very well., thank you very much.

    Wasn’t “lootable administrative apparatus” the excuse Ilhan Omar used to defend the fraud? Don’t blame us, blame the apparatus!

    Well, we certainly know why we spend more and more on homelessness, drug & alcohol abuse, hunger, etc. and the problems still continue to grow. The lootable administrative apparatus is likely at work anywhere such programs exist.

Democrats and Islam seem to go hand in pocket these days. Don’t stop here, on to EBT fraud, Medicaid fraud Section 8 housing fraud, the list is endless.

    Absolutely. Get the database for every State administered program and NGO/Charity run program receiving federal funds to compare with INS, IRS, SSA, and every other federal program to figure out what else is going on.

    Get DOGE on it right away.

    Somalis planned to take over the democrats – at least 20 years ago – see details below.
    They have succeeded.

    Like promotes like. UNTIL they don’t – the DFL House leader in MN was murdered in her home.
    Melissa Hortman because she took a stand against more money for ______________. I’m sure it occurred for more than one reason but this “more” statement is opinion not far.

How long does the evidence have to pile up before we start to see some prosecutions? How much did Ilhan get to buy several years worth of turbans?

    A lie travels half way around the world before the truth puts it’s pants on.
    Or in other words, they have to collect evidence and many other things before the trial can start.
    And from the looks of the Miami mayor voter turn out, no one cares anymore.
    Until they find out they can’t vote their way out anymore and their guns they turned in voluntarily.

End payments to NGO/charity groups/non profits of all stripes. Convert all welfare aid programs to in kind only, no cash, no payments, no tax credits, no vouchers just a food box to picked up in person with ID. Transportation can be a bus pass again in person with ID checked each use. Housing can be an apartment with a 6 month tenancy. Life time max eligibility of 3 years unless found to be disabled by the same sort of skeptically intrusive, adversarial claims process the VA uses. Eligibility restricted to households and any person deemed ineligible within that household makes all the people of that household ineligible. Marry an illegal alien or allow your illegal alien brother/cousin to live with you? Tough cookies your household is automatically ineligible for any benefit program. Fail to self report household ineligiblity? When discovered claw back provisions require repayment with asset forfeiture and garnishment plus immediately revoke any grant of visa, green card or naturalization for every adult member of the household and immediate deportation.

    The process consists of:

    1. Manufacture a crisis;

    2. Nonprofits launder the money;

    3. Metrics do not matter; vague terms are used to describe the “success” of the projects because they have no intention of solving the problem;

    4. Bureaucratic capture – the government, the non nonprofits they fund and political donors class create and thrive through revolving employment between the entities;

    5. Political firewall – you will be criticized for either attacking a protected group or undermining equity when you point out the obvious;

    6. Media compliance – the media needs access to City Hall and does not want to be labeled “racist;” the impacted entities provide the media their talking points.

    7. The forever budget – just need more money, time, resources to really solve the problem.

    Always remember – solving the problem bankrupts the managers.

      “3. Metrics do not matter; vague terms are used to describe the “success” of the projects”
      Even better when you have a team talented enough to describe “success” in terms of money SPENT… as the educational establishment does…, or the VA, where “full spending is lauded as an achievement without substantial linkage to outcomes such as treatment effectiveness or veteran satisfaction scores; low spending is portrayed as underperformance regardless of quality.”

      CommoChief in reply to Corky M. | December 12, 2025 at 3:51 pm

      Sure and that’s been successful. There’s a few looming problems for it. First the criticism will come from the same folks who called Mitt Romney a ‘nazi’ and have been busy for decades labeling the rest of us as deplorables ‘ists full of isms and phobes’. So the name calling is kinda played out, nobody cares any more. Second we’re pretty close to broke, yes the feds can print more $ and the Fed Reserve can buy excess bonds rejected by the free market to try and tamp down interest but folks are catching on to that; see gold/silver price increases as the dollar has become increasingly devalued in terms of purchasing power this century. We’re fast approaching the point Margaret Thatcher warned of ‘..out of other people’s money’.

I want, along with millions of other Americans, these East African Muslim thieves arrested, prosecuted, and then incarcerated and or deported. Anything less is an abject FAILURE.

Walz very well could be elected. Our SOS has not released voter rolls to DOJ. From over 15 years working for ballot protection I know the system is abused.

The USA is NOT a multi-cultural nation – it is MULTI-ETHNIC. We have accepted more people from more nations/countries/belief systems/skin tone thank ANYWHERE on the planet. They studied, attended school and became Americans. Very few came for government benefits until the past 20+ years.

Years ago, I had coffee with a senior Somali – asked why they voted democrat since they SAID they supported education and families. THis does not appear to be the case. His reply in essence said, “We can take over the democrat/DFL party, not the Republican party.” When I raised the issue with the Rs, it was ignored. The Somalis have won that one.

I have a lot more personal experience but we are discovering, hopefully not too late, that individuals, small groups, faith groups come here and assimilate. Large tribal groups, with the goal of bringing over all their relatives (legally or illegally) are wrecking our nation and worldwide freedom. We fight it now or.., Remember if Ds win everything, they will increase SCOTUS to 21 – we’re done.

Now do commiefornia

Sounds like they were using the BLM plan.
