‘We’re Done Hiding’: Mamdani’s Win Supercharges Islamists’, Marxists’ Confidence

It cannot be overstated: Zohran Mamdani’s Tuesday night victory in New York City’s mayoral race marked a watershed moment for both Muslim and socialist activists — not only across the five boroughs, but throughout the nation. The displays of hubris began almost immediately after Mamdani was declared the winner — and have shown no sign of slowing since.
One of the most revealing — and frightening — reactions came from an unidentified Muslim man who interpreted Mamdani’s triumph as nothing less than divine approval for Islam’s ultimate conquest of America.
In the video below, he told supporters:
We’re done hiding. We’re done being tortured and hurt and judged. This is the correct religion. This is the religion that all of humanity needs to be a part of Islam [sic], and we will not stop until it enters every home.
I wanna hear it in every single district. It should tremble. Brooklyn should hear it. The Bronx should hear it. Queens should hear it. Say it as if the ummah depends on this, my brothers and sisters.
There is no God worthy of worship except Allah — and final prophet, Mohammed.

Unfortunately, he was far from the only one who believed Mamdani’s victory marked the beginning of an Islamic transformation of the United States.
The following clip shows Muslim women dancing in celebration. One of them says, “Sharia law starts now. Abso-f***ing-lutely. … Mamdani, Islamic Caliphate, our brother in Islam. Islamic Caliphate of New York starts today baby!”

Social media is overflowing with posts from deluded individuals who have recast Mamdani’s victory as a harbinger of Islam’s supposed conquest of America. These distorted narratives warp the meaning of his win beyond recognition. To claim that the election of a single Muslim in one city heralds the nation’s embrace of Islam as its faith is, quite simply, absurd.
One X user offered a blunt reality check: “If a foreigner is in your country and demands you accept their culture as your culture or change your beliefs for that person’s religious needs … That’s not an immigrant. That’s an invader.”
Perhaps the greatest message from Mamdani’s victory, and one that is more grounded in reality, is that “socialism is no longer a dirty word” in America. It has become an acceptable alternative to capitalism — particularly among the young, who have no idea of the misery socialism has caused wherever it’s been tried.
The Mamdani victory party brought together a familiar lineup of far-left figures. Among them were journalist Mehdi Hasan, former New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman — who may be tapped to run the NYC school system, and influencer Hasan Piker. As you can imagine, they were all exhilarated.
In the clip below, Hasan asked Piker, who has denied Hamas’s atrocities against Israel, “How do you feel about a socialist mayor?”
Piker replied:
I feel electric. I feel amazing. … Being uncompromising in your values, whether it be about touching that third rail and speaking out about Israel or primarily focusing on affordability in your campaign strategy, it turns out, is very effective.
We are in the heart of the imperial war. This is a country that defeated the USSR, unfortunately.
Everyday Americans, in spite of their lack of class consciousness, are finally arriving at the conclusion that perhaps there is an alternative out there. There is an alternative that focuses on them as opposed to the interests of the billionaires and millionaires.
An ecstatic Bowman told comrade Hasan, “Socialism is not a dirty word anymore. We’re taking on all right-wing fake MAGA tough guys. Hasan and Jamaal, coming to your town. Let’s get on the bench press.”
“Socialist is not a dirty word anymore – that’s why they jumped to ‘communist,’” Jamaal Bowman said to @mehdirhasan.
“Democrats, listen up. Take some lessons – don’t get on your Ezra Klein nonsense. Don’t let Ezra Klein 'analyze' what happened here,” he added.

Mahmoud Khalil, known for organizing the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University, was also on hand for the festivities. Guests were very happy to see Khalil, whom the U.S. has been trying to deport since March. MAGA supporters, on the other hand, demanded to know why he was still in the U.S.

Then, of course, came Mamdani’s defiant victory speech, in which, as Mary reported on Wednesday, “he dropped his mask and revealed his true self. ‘I am a socialist.'”
I suppose we can’t fault Democrats for celebrating Mamdani’s victory; after all, the party has been wandering in the political wilderness since its crushing defeat last November. Still, they seem eager to read far too much into a single win. Look at his competition.
Mamdani was elected mayor, not president — and New York’s political graveyard is littered with former mayors who quickly faded into irrelevance.

Islam isn’t peaceful nor is any other major world religion if we honestly examine history. To be fair, every major world religion has had its own period(s) of expansion often using violence or threat of violence to gain sway over a population then using its dominance to maintain power and hold influence. Relatively speaking Islam is the ‘new kid on the block’ and has yet to experience a true reformation that Jas the effect of moderating the more zealous impulses within it.
It’s unlikely Islam will have a reformation. I spent a lot of time in Muslim Nations including several deployments embedded with their armies living and fighting shoulder to shoulder with Muslims. Most ain’t overly religious. Frankly it is similar to how one is expected to belong to a church in a small town. It’s very often for appearances sake to placate the folks who’d be upset if one didn’t show up to church and wonder about the state of your soul.
