The House passed the bill before 7:30 PM ET. Trump signed it shortly after that.
Six House Democrats crossed the aisle:
- Henry Cuellar (TX)
- Don Davis (NC)
- Jared Golden (ME)
- Adam Gray (CA)
- Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA)
- Tom Suozzi (NY)
So why did they cross the aisle? They said the bill needed to pass to get people back to work and to help others get their SNAP benefits.
I haven’t looked yet, but if they aren’t in a necessarily safe Democrat district, I have a feeling their political life had something to do with it.
Perez explained:
Tonight, I voted to end this partisan car crash of a shutdown. Nobody likes paying even more money to insurance companies – and the fight to stop runaway health insurance premiums won’t be won by holding hungry Americans hostage. Americans can’t afford for their Representatives to get so caught up in landing a partisan win that they abandon their obligation to come together to solve the urgent problems that our nation faces.
The last several weeks have been a case study in why most Americans can’t stand Congress. None of my friends who rely on SNAP would want to trade their dinner for an ambiguous D.C. beltway “messaging victory” and I’m glad this ugly scene is in the rearview mirror.
Now, it’s time for Congress to get back to work and build an economy where people aren’t yanked around by partisan interests, where we understand national health doesn’t come from insurance coverage – and reestablish a truly deliberative democracy. I’ll work with whoever is necessary to reach those goals – and I don’t give a damn which side of the aisle they sit on.

Everyone knows that I have been preaching bipartisanship for years. I am relying on the representations of some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, that they want to get something done to extend the Premium Tax Credits.
Unfortunately, we cannot rely on the White House, which has chosen to make this process needlessly painful for many families who rely on SNAP to put food on the table for children, the elderly, veterans and the disabled. In addition, the airport situations are becoming untenable, and government workers have gone without pay for too long.
If my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are willing to work together to address this health insurance affordability crisis by extending the premium tax credits, then we will have accomplished something meaningful.
If we are not successful, it will deal yet another blow to the already eroding trust in Washington, DC, and it will be clear who failed to deliver.

The bill funds the government until January 30, 2026. It allocates funds to the agriculture, defense, and veterans departments, as well as the legislative branch, and reinstates federal workers who lost their jobs during the shutdown.
The Senate passed this version on Monday night. Seven Democrats and one Independent voted for it after the Republicans promised to hold a vote to extend the Obamacare subsidies.

why are the feds in charge of local issues like food?
if the locals want to vote in socialism and it doesnt violate us laws ( which should be the case that it does violate the law) then it is
but why the feds in control
BINGO. I’ve been raising that red flag for a while.
‘We need to have a national conversation about why the federal government should not be in the business of feeding people.’
Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread.

The Constitution guarantees, in fact mandates, a Republican form of government. Socialism is not a Republican form of government.
Oh, great…
The leviathan has come back to life.
Yippee…
Can I take down my shutdown decorations now?

I’m sure no one here has ever done anything remotely stupid, but years ago, I got way behind on tax payments. I wound up with a a draconian payment plan with the IRS that coincided with the introduction of Obamacare.
Turns out that eligibility for such plans is based on your gross income (I was self employed), and not on how much of it you have. Payments on back taxes are not considered.
So I wound up with no insurance, and paying the tax penalty for being uninsured. Double whammy.
I cannot even complain, because my situation was self inflicted.
sure you did wrong but the obamacare penalty was also a wrong and no citizen deserved that
Whether it was self inflicted or not is neither here nor there as you shouldnt have been put in that position by the system itself.
Don Davis is in deep dodo and knows it….I am surprised he waited this long.
his polling must really be bad ….
ahahahha

My Husband And His Family Voted For Trump — So I’m Canceling Thanksgiving And Christmas
I knew he voted red. He knew I voted blue. I had hoped the most capable and most inclusive candidate would win. He hoped his idea of a better America would win. He won, and, from where I stand, America lost.
it clearly shows how the emotional lefty vs the loving caring husband differ
he didnt cancel her
but she canceled him
which in turn really starts to push that maybe maga needs to stop being sooo generous and cancel lefty
The comments are pretty telling. The left thinks we’re evil and want to actively kill people. Yet they’re the ones who tried to assassinate Trump and managed to kill Charlie Kirk. They’re the ones who support violently attacking people expressing opinions with which they disagree. I’m not sure going forward how we are supposed to live with so many people who reject logic and reason and exhibit poor impulse control.
Especially a stone nitwit who thinks that Kamaltoe was “more capable” than… ANYBODY still breathing.
He should take the kids out to Chuck E Cheese for Thanksgiving and tell them mom is staying home because she doesn’t want to celebrate..
The end of the Schumer shutdown
The end of Schumer showdown
The end of Schumer
The end
What a load of horse hockey. Schumer wasn’t looking to “stop runaway health insurance premiums”. Neither was Jeffries. As a matter of fact, none of the democrats were doing that. What they were “fighting for” was to continue the Obamacare premium subsidies passed during the covid pandemic to maintain the illusion that Obamacare is a successful program and not the complete and utter failure it is in reality. That is all democrats were “fighting for”. But there we go and here we are. Let the democrat gaslighting begin!
P.S. Hope Schumer gets his hind-end primaried by that horse-faced nincompoop Ocasio-Cortez. And it will be priceless to see the look on AOC’s face if when she’s elected to the Senate only to find out she’s the “Junior Senator from New York” and wields absolutely no power over the other Senate democrats. Priceless.
Well done Trump.
Now in light of the way Democrats wanted to shut down subsidies to rural hospitals (ask anyone taking either high school or college level ecology that is killing the rural population) and the fact that moderate Democrats like Fetterman were against the shutdown I think the next mission should be removing the traitor Republicans who are from safe states and districts but took the Democrats side in this.
Since so few Democrats voted for it, there should be no talk of a deal.
By the way the email involved attacking Trump was someone so unreliable prosecutors determined she could not have her claims used due to her unreliability.
There is counter-evidence including an actual deposition, and lets be blunt.
2011…….
Trump didn’t have power to help anyone against federal prosecution in 2011.
What this seems to show is all the Epstein thing is is a conspiracy theory.
