Senate Votes to End Schumer Shutdown, Sends Bill to House
The CR has to pass the House and Trump has to sign it before the government reopens.
The Senate voted 60-40 to end the Schumer Shutdown.
The continuing resolution heads back to the House. President Donald Trump has to sign off on it before the government reopens.

The bill funds “military construction, veterans’ affairs, the Department of Agriculture and the legislative branch through Sept. 30, 2026, and the rest of the government through Jan. 30.”
The same Democratic senators who voted to end the filibuster voted to pass the bill:
- Dick Durbin (IL)
- John Fetterman (PA)
- Maggie Hassan (NH)
- Tim Kaine (VA)
- Catherine Cortez Masto (NV)
- Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
- Jacky Rosen (NV)
Maine Independent Sen. Angus King also voted to pass the CR.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson will give the House a 36-hour notice to reconvene. He also wants the House Rules Committee “to lay the groundwork for the bill” as soon as possible.

Well done Trump.
Now lets all remember everyone on the Republican side who defected during the fight such as MTG.
Democrats attempted to among other things demand ending funds to rural hospitals.
Defection in this fight should neither be forgotten nor forgiven. It is one thing if you occupied a deeply blue district or a blue state.
If you are from a red district that would vote for a glass of water with the letter R on it…….
Demanded? They did deny funds to SNAP, expected redistribution of school lunches, denied workers’ salaries, medical insurance, too, etc., and they replaced citizens with illegal aliens for gerrymandering and other purposes, and still had funds to mutilate boys and girls in simulant therapy, and abort babies in sanctuary states to sequester the “burden” of evidence. A Pro-Choice religion in progressive sects wielded with liberal license. Let us bray for Diversity, Equivocation, and Indifference with our votes for 40 trillion dollars in affordable medical care with progressive heath care.
That was … incomprehensible.
I see you haven’t been introduced to n.n.
Let us pray for a reduction in reliance upon the government.
Obamacare should be ENDED.
SNAP should be greatly reduced so that the cradle-to-grave recipients who are fit to work are weeded out. We can sympathize with those who unexpectedly fall on hard times, but those who make no effort to support themselves should be kicked off the program.
The Dems that voted for the CR were low risk/retiring so the Dems could end the Schumer Shutdown without having to admit it failed.
The media honchos are busily trying to rewrite this as the “Historic Trump Government Shutdown To End All Shutdowns Ended By Senate Democrats”.
They whine that THIS is what Trump will carry as his legacy.
Not like they have already dragged him through the mud while we watched.
Good catch and something I posted elsewhere. This was all political theater. The ones that crossed the aisle have little to fear as 2 are retiring and the others are not up for reelection next year. Schumer allowed them to vote and take the heat to get out of the quagmire he put them in and try to placate the progressive crazies by running to the microphones and screaming at them.
Ted Cruz forecast this happening a week or so ago. The Dems had painted themselves into a corner, and had to get out of it by sacrificing their least vulnerable while still bowing and scraping to the Leftist fanatics.
I predicted it for last thursday or friday so I was a few days off. He is better at prognostication than I am
Schmuck needed to flap his arms faster during his spew. Once the Republicans saw him flying about the room on his own power, they would have caved to his blackmail.
It’s even more impressive when you turn into a bat first.
Progressives will nuke the filibuster the first chance they get, in retaliation, just as they lushed redistricting in CA.
Republicans should nuke it first.
While I’m glad the Senate finally passed a spending resolution would it be too much to ask to call it for what it actually is? It’s a Continuing Spending Resolution that allows the federal government to spend money without the required appropriations or budget bills being passed by the House and Senate. To say it is just a “Continuing Resolution” is disingenuous as it doesn’t actually describe what the resolution is or actually does. But in the end it will make no difference to the process as when this new Continuing Spending Resolution expires they still won’t have passed a budget and will have to pass yet another Continuing Spending Resolution while they “work on passing the budget/spending bills”. Lather, rinse, repeat ad nauseam. I can’t even remember when the federal government had an actual budget that didn’t consist simply of an ill-considered, passed at the last second, “Omnibus Spending Bill” the consisted of two-thirds pork barrel spending and one-third necessary spending to keep the federal government in operation.
You sound like me on the ‘debt ceiling.’ If it goes up every time you bump your head against it, it’s not a ceiling, it’s a hat.
It might be super hard to get the Reps back to DC with all the flights getting cancelled. The government may have to remain shut down for a few extra days. Oh noes.
Our side has a minor civil kerfluffle over Nick Feuntes – who is a marxist, not on the right. Meanwhile there is now going to be a Democrat civil war.
More popcorn please!
