The majority of Palestinians believe that the October 7 massacre was justified, a new opinion poll shows.
More than half of Palestinians — whether they live in Hamas-infested Gaza, or Palestinian Authority-run Judea and Samaria (the so-called West Bank) — think it was “correct” to mutilate, rape, burn alive, murder, and kidnap men, women, and children on October 7, 2023. “Support for Hamas’s decision to launch the offensive … remains a majority at more than 50%, with recent gains in Gaza and sustained high support in the West Bank,” a study released by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research on Tuesday said.
Refusing to hold Palestinian terrorists to account for their misery, they overwhelmingly blame Israel. “Most Palestinians continue to blame Israel for [their] suffering, and a near-unanimous do not believe Hamas committed the atrocities against civilians depicted in international media,” the poll numbers show.
Palestinians also don’t want Gaza-based terrorists to disarm, a key condition under the Trump peace plan. Many of them still hope for a Hamas victory, the study revealed:
Politically, expectations of a Hamas victory have fallen to about 40%, revealing a major split: West Bankers remain more optimistic, while a notable portion of Gazans, 3 in 10, now anticipate an Israeli win. This has not translated into a desire for capitulation, as an overwhelming majority opposes disarming Hamas to end the war, including 85% in the West Bank and 55% in Gaza.
Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi terrorist groups enjoy widespread support among Palestinians. State-backers of terrorism, such as Iran and Qatar, were equally popular:
Satisfaction ratings reflect these dynamics, with Hamas (60%) enjoying far greater approval than President Abbas (about 20%). Regionally, Yemen’s Houthis are most popular, then Qatar, Hezbollah, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Despite President Trump’s painstaking efforts to end the two-year-long armed conflict, Palestinians remain ungrateful. They instead showed higher favorability towards Communist China and Putin’s Russia. With France, Spain, and the UK moving towards recognizing ‘Palestinian’ statehood, their favorability saw a spike as well. “Internationally, China comes first followed by Russia, Spain, France, UK, and finally the US or President Trump,” the survey concluded.
These poll numbers should not come as a surprise. Since October 7, 2023, poll after poll has shown massive support for mass murder and atrocities against innocent Israelis and Jews. A poll released in May 2025 showed 60 percent support for the October 7 massacre among Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria.
While reveling in the bloodbath of the October 7 attack, they refused to believe that Palestinian terrorists did anything wrong that day. “Strikingly, nearly 90% of Palestinians—including those in Gaza—say they do not believe Hamas fighters committed the atrocities captured in videos from October 7, despite mounting global evidence,” Ynetnews reported, citing the same study.
