The Argentine people love President Javier Milei’s slash-and-burn tactics.
So much so that Milei’s party won bigly in the country’s midterms. From Fox News:
Milei’s party, La Libertad Avanza, won about 41.5% of the vote in Buenos Aires province, a historic upset in a region long dominated by the Peronist opposition. The rival coalition took 40.8%, according to figures cited by Reuters and The Associated Press.
Nationwide, La Libertad Avanza increased its seats in the lower house from 37 to 64, positioning Milei to more easily defend his vetoes and executive decrees that have defined his economic agenda.
“The result is better than even the most optimistic Milei supporters were hoping for,” Marcelo Garcia, director for the Americas at the risk-analysis firm Horizon Engage, said in comments reported by Reuters. “With this result, Milei will be able to easily defend his decrees and vetoes in Congress.”
Political consultant Gustavo Cordoba told Reuters the outcome reflected a cautious optimism among voters who appear willing to give Milei’s economic policies more time.
When Milei won, he warned the people that his tactics would be painful and slow. Things would get worse before they get better. The libertarian way is literally slash and burn. You’re starting over.

most libertarianism is good but the hitch is the “lack of understanding” ( or unwillingness) to admit that you have to have some involvement, be it oversight or a harsh hand ( think iran being bombed) to be effective in the real world

Libertarians ain’t pacifist. Sure there’s the philosophy of the non aggression principle but I don’t see how that’s objectionable. Nothing about that compels one to meekly ‘turn the other cheek’ after being hit. Then there’s the misunderstanding about non intervention abroad which some mischaracterized as ‘isolationist’. It is no more than following Washington’s admonition to avoid ‘entangling alliances’ which seems very wise. Smacking around bullies until the bullies figure out they must at best stop bullying or risk destruction or at worst find another victim isn’t antithetical to Libertarian principles.
In sum a Libertarian individual or Nation is quite capable of responding to an assault or even preemptively disrupting a pending assault without violating the core Libertarian principles.
Libertarians aren’t pacifists, and they’re not even necessarily against intervening in foreign wars. What they’re against is demanding that anyone strong enough must get involved in righting every injustice on the planet. Libertarians believe in the right to walk on past someone in trouble and not help them. It may not be nice, it may even be despicable, but if someone wants to be like that they have the right to do so, and the government has no right to force them to help the person in trouble.
So the Libertarian Party was founded by people who said, basically, we feel sorry for all those people in South Vietnam who are in danger of being enslaved and/or killed by the communists, but we don’t want to go fight to protect them, and we don’t want to pay taxes to have others sent to protect them. If you like them so much why don’t you go, or donate to the South Vietnamese army so it can fight.
I call this the Kitty Genovese theory of foreign policy. (Yes, I know, the Kitty Genovese story is mostly myth, but that’s what I’m referring to, not to what actually happened to her.)

Every party supports that. But, they use different names for the prostitutes. Congressman, Senator, Governor, Mayor…

Do you have a point beyond slandering him for something his sister may have done?
And what “trust” do you imagine we have given him? He’s a leader of a different nation.
I don’t trust liberals. Every media poll put out before the election made it look like Milei and his party were going to lose. As usual with legacy media, they FAKED their polls.
Milei’s party got 40.7% of the vote. The liberals got 24.8%.
Milei’s members of parliament went from 37 to 101 and his senators from 6 to 20.
The only things liberals are good at are lying and obfuscation.
There is no basis for your claim to not trust Melei. The proof is in the results. What he has accomplished with his socioeconomic reforms in Argentina, is miraculous and laudable, by any fair measure.
Part of being objective and rational is giving credit where credit is due.
And, according to the Grauniad, Trump has been embroiled in multiple corruption scandals, tying him and every member of his family to alleged bribes. There’s even a rumor that when Teddy Kushner was in kindergarten someone tried to offer him a juice box in return for favors from his zaidee.
I have decided to withhold my faith in anything political I may read in an online tabloid that maintains a dedicated editor for a running feature literally called “Guns and Lies [in America].”
You’d do better to delete that word “political”. The Grauniad is to be read for entertainment value only.
I had a look at the section you linked to. I would say “unbelievable”, but unfortunately I believe it only too well. It’s the content that’s literally unbelievable. And yet there are many who swallow every word and think it’s the truth.
