Because Trump Derangement Syndrome is a very real thing, leftists insist we must be outraged when it comes to all things Trump.
This, of course, even includes the ballroom addition to the White House, something for which taxpayers will not be on the hook and which can be used for larger state gatherings during this presidency and those to come.
In July, President Trump unveiled the details of the ballroom he’d been teasing about for weeks prior, noting that construction would begin on the 90,000 sq ft room in September. The seating capacity, Trump administration officials also shared, would be 650, far more than the 200-seat capacity of the East Room.
This week, we learned that demolition was underway on the East Wing:
Construction began on President Donald Trump’s new $250 million White House ballroom with workers demolishing part of the East Wing ahead of building a 90,000-square-foot addition, one of the biggest changes to the presidential residence in decades.
Images show a backhoe tearing into the side of the East Wing facing the Treasury building, despite Trump’s pledge in July that the ballroom wouldn’t impact the existing White House structure.
“It won’t interfere with the current building… it’ll be near it but not touching it and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of,” Trump said. “It’s my favorite place. I love it.”
As one would expect from such a predictable lot, the outrage cranked up once again, with Democrats, the media, and NeverTrumpers alike all upset that Trump dared make the types of significant changes that presidents before him have done.
Hillary Clinton, of all people, weighed in as well, apparently hoping people had forgotten that the phrases “desecrating the White House” and “the Clintons” are synonymous.
There are even some unhinged leftists who are trying to get the demolition company canceled:
The White House strongly pushed back on the criticisms, posting an extensive photo history of some of the past changes/additions made by other presidents:
Not to be outdone, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) had to get a swipe in at the newly-renovated Rose Garden:
Not only are the criticisms widely off base, but they’re coming from the same political party and media types who, as noted earlier, excused the many Clinton White House desecrations, and who also cheered when LGBTQ rainbow flags were displayed next to the American flag during a Biden-Harris White House “Pride Month” event on the South Lawn.
These are the same people who also said nothing when a topless transgender individual showed out during the 2023 event, and who wanted to quickly move on when cocaine was discovered near the West Wing entrance in July 2023, a timeframe when Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, was spending a lot more time at the White House.
So, yeah, it’s understandable that the Trump administration will accept lectures from Democrats and the media on what is and is not acceptable to take place at the White House complex on, like, the 12th of never.
