Leftist Meltdowns Commence After White House Ballroom Addition Gets Underway

Leftist Meltdowns Commence After White House Ballroom Addition Gets Underway

“No president should be able to do what trump is doing to the White House right now. He doesn’t own the place. WE do. It’s OUR house. We’re just letting him live there for four years. He can’t tear down walls and sh**. It’s OUR house.”

Because Trump Derangement Syndrome is a very real thing, leftists insist we must be outraged when it comes to all things Trump.

This, of course, even includes the ballroom addition to the White House, something for which taxpayers will not be on the hook and which can be used for larger state gatherings during this presidency and those to come.

In July, President Trump unveiled the details of the ballroom he’d been teasing about for weeks prior, noting that construction would begin on the 90,000 sq ft room in September. The seating capacity, Trump administration officials also shared, would be 650, far more than the 200-seat capacity of the East Room.

This week, we learned that demolition was underway on the East Wing:

Construction began on President Donald Trump’s new $250 million White House ballroom with workers demolishing part of the East Wing ahead of building a 90,000-square-foot addition, one of the biggest changes to the presidential residence in decades.

Images show a backhoe tearing into the side of the East Wing facing the Treasury building, despite Trump’s pledge in July that the ballroom wouldn’t impact the existing White House structure.

“It won’t interfere with the current building… it’ll be near it but not touching it and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of,” Trump said. “It’s my favorite place. I love it.”

As one would expect from such a predictable lot, the outrage cranked up once again, with Democrats, the media, and NeverTrumpers alike all upset that Trump dared make the types of significant changes that presidents before him have done.

Hillary Clinton, of all people, weighed in as well, apparently hoping people had forgotten that the phrases “desecrating the White House” and “the Clintons” are synonymous.

There are even some unhinged leftists who are trying to get the demolition company canceled:

The White House strongly pushed back on the criticisms, posting an extensive photo history of some of the past changes/additions made by other presidents:

Not to be outdone, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) had to get a swipe in at the newly-renovated Rose Garden:

Not only are the criticisms widely off base, but they’re coming from the same political party and media types who, as noted earlier, excused the many Clinton White House desecrations, and who also cheered when LGBTQ rainbow flags were displayed next to the American flag during a Biden-Harris White House “Pride Month” event on the South Lawn.

These are the same people who also said nothing when a topless transgender individual showed out during the 2023 event, and who wanted to quickly move on when cocaine was discovered near the West Wing entrance in July 2023, a timeframe when  Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, was spending a lot more time at the White House.

So, yeah, it’s understandable that the Trump administration will accept lectures from Democrats and the media on what is and is not acceptable to take place at the White House complex on, like, the 12th of never.

FDR added a pool in the White House:

No Communist outrage about that “desecration of peoples’ house”.

But, but, BUT – The White House has been unchanged since George Washington lived there!* Well, except for that time the British burned it to the ground in 1814…. and when indoor plumbing was added in 1833, and all the other changes and improvements since then.

* Note: Most Liberals probably won’t know enough history to know that George Washington never lived in the White House

They wouldn’t even know that the 1st National Capitol was in Annapolis, Md in half of what is now the Maryland State House.

The east wing is not physically attached to the white house. It is a separate building some distance away that is connected to the white house by a covered walkway (colonnade).

Best not let facts get in the way of the outrage of the day.

As long as they keep the collonade as opposed to attaching the ballroom to the White House itself, it’s fine. The East Wing has always been pretty much invisible from any angle, hidden by trees from the north and south, the Treasury building from the east, and by the White House and Old Executive Office Building to the west.

I think Trump’s people should hurry up and release some drawings showing exactly where that ballroom will be and how it will be connected to the White House.

What about the kneepads that Bill Clinton installed in the Oval Office?

Is it true it has electricity as well?

I have it on good authority that Trumps #2 smells bad, and therefore should be impeached.

Historical illiteracy is a prerequisite for Democrat Party membership.

They are only angry because leftists don’t have balls.

President Harry S. Truman lived at Blair House from late November 1948 to March 27, 1952. This residence served as the official guest house during the White House renovations.

They probably prefer if Obama had added a mosque or the Bidens had sold the place to the Chinese.

because to a lefty
fun is a party at john wayne gacys house

Same people who are complaining about people walking around the Capitol on 1/6/21. If the White House is our house, the Capitol is also ours and we’re allowed to inspect it.

Visitors enter through the East Wing, specifically the East Entrance, when they’re on a public tour. This entrance leads them to the East Colonnade, which is nothing more than a covered walkway, which leads to the “actual” White House.

Paula in reply to Paula. | October 22, 2025 at 12:22 pm

Actually, only a portion of the East Wing is being demolished for the new ballroom — approximately 25%. The rest of the East Wing will remain intact.

The vile, stupid and evil Dhimmi-crats are perpetually miserable, histrionic and infantile toddlers, stuck in a miasma of perpetual, contrived and fallacious grievance, outrage and agitprop.

DemoncRats have a snit-fit. In other news today ….

These people are beyond parody.

President Trump needs to come out in favor of breathing air. Especially oxygen.

It’s great for a laugh. Let them keep hollering. They need something to complain about and to better show people who they are.

Obama erected a tent on the white house lawn to hold state dinners for foreign heads of state. It looked like something a sheik in Saudi Arabia had before they discovered oil. Perhaps someday the USA will build a suitable building to host heads of state. Maybe they could tear down the office building on the east side of the white house and put it there.

Sanddog in reply to Paula. | October 22, 2025 at 12:27 pm

Imagine thinking it’s a good idea to pitch a freaking tent on the lawn so foreign leaders can sweat in August, wearing formal wear for a state dinner. Since the White House is exempt from the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, renovations can be done legally by any President.

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | October 22, 2025 at 3:21 pm

I’d allow the tent thing, as long as pink underwear distribution was part of the deal.

The East and West Wings of the White House do not match because they have different architectural histories and functions. The West Wing was built first (1902) as a place for the President’s staff, while the East Wing was added later (1942) to house the first lady’s staff. According to reprts, the new East Wing will match and will look much better.

2smartforlibs | October 22, 2025 at 1:01 pm

The left wing peral clutching is laughable.

President Trump should also rename it from the East Wing to the Right Wing.

“No president should be able to do what trump is doing to the White House right now. He doesn’t own the place. WE do. It’s OUR house. We’re just letting him live there for four years. He can’t tear down walls and shit. It’s OUR house.”

Try walking in “your house” on January 6, and see what YOUR SIDE does.

He should have said he was adding three stories to the main building so he would have a better view. Then watch the heads explode.

The Democrats aren’t happy unless they are miserable. Nothing triggers them more than Trump. Now Trump is creating a permanent alteration to the White House. Everyone knows that for decades to come it won’t be “The White House Ballroom.” It will be “Trump’s Ballroom.”

Too bad they didn’t get this upset about Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. Probably could have paid for the ballroom with all the equipment he left behind.

bev in reply to bev. | October 22, 2025 at 10:59 pm

Actually I was way off. $7 billion worth of equipment was left behind in Afghanistan. Could have paid for 28 ballrooms with that.

Couldn’t imagine life as a liberal. Waking up every day and racing to get online to find out what I’m supposed to be raging against that day.

They all say exactly the same thing too. Starting with their media outlets, whose message is parroted by the D politicians, and by 100% of their base. Typically repeating the exact same talking points verbatim.

None of them are capable of thinking for themselves.

The “journ-o-list” didn’t die, it simply rebranded.

Bonus: Given that the D politicians get their talking points from the cabal of liberal media journos, and not the other way around, who are really the leaders of the D Party and who the mere mouthpieces for it? Seems more accurate to describe the actual leadership of the D Party as the editors of the NY Times and politicians like Schumer, AOC, and the rest as simply the promoters of the agenda that was set for them.

I read quite a number of hysterical quotes from the left over this. Most claimed it was unconstitutional and illegal but were surprisingly vague as to how. From the artists renditions it will be very nice with giant windows all around and a whole lot of people agree that a permanent ballroom for State Dinners has been needed for years. That Trump is doing it out of pocket with donations costing the taxpayers nothing is icing on the cake. Democrats attacking Trump over this is just another indication they have nothing to offer Americans other than TDS.

TDS is a pathological emotional defense mechanism that allows liberals to focus on something other than the miserable mental chaos they they otherwise embrace.
