UN Summit: Netanyahu’s Flight Route Avoids France Over ICC Arrest Warrant

Ynetnews: “The flight path was reportedly chosen to ensure the plane only crossed airspace of countries considered safe in the event of an emergency landing.”

Israeli Prime Minister’s flight to the U.S. on Thursday bypassed the airspace of France and other European countries. The unusual flight path was likely chosen to “avoid problems related to the International Criminal Court’s warrant for Netanyahu’s arrest,” The Times of Israel observed.

“While the standard flight path from Israel to New York transits over France, the Israeli premier’s ‘Wing of Zion’ plane took a longer and circuitous route above the Mediterranean Sea,” The Financial Times (UK) reported. “The plane passed through the Strait of Gibraltar to the Atlantic Ocean and traversed briefly over Greece and Italy.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu is headed for New York to address the UN General Assembly and meet with President Donald Trump at the White House.

The visit comes as French President Emmanuel Macron, whose popularity at home has reached a record low, seeks to position himself as a global statesman. “Macron wants to pull off a grand diplomatic coup” at the UN “by collecting several Western countries together to recognize a Palestinian state,” Politico noted ahead of the international gathering.

Israel’s Ynetnews reported Thursday:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plane took an unusual route Thursday as he traveled to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, in what appeared to be an effort to avoid flying over European countries—especially France.

According to publicly available flight tracking data, the prime minister’s plane, “Wing of Zion,” took the southernmost route possible, avoiding French and other European airspace entirely. Instead, it flew over the Mediterranean Sea, passed over Greece and Italy, then exited to the Atlantic Ocean via the Strait of Gibraltar.

The flight path was reportedly chosen to ensure the plane only crossed airspace of countries considered safe in the event of an emergency landing.

The decision was likely influenced by a desire to avoid French airspace, possibly due to tensions with President Emmanuel Macron and concern over the risk of enforcement of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant, should an emergency landing occur in a country that is party to the Rome Statute.

In November 2024, the Hague-based ICC issued an arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The international warrant was based on absurd charges of ‘war crimes’ allegedly committed by the two leaders while overseeing the military operation to secure the release of 251 hostages from Hamas captivity in the aftermath of the October 7 attack, in which the invading terrorists massacred more than 1200 people.

The ICC, set up under the framework of the 1998 Rome Statute, has 123 signatory states. France and most of the European Union member countries have endorsed the treaty.

The Trump administration is currently considering sweeping sanctions against the ICC. In the past, the kangaroo court had pushed a similar campaign of lawfare against U.S. servicemen who fought against Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

“The United States is considering imposing sanctions as soon as this week against the entire International Criminal Court, putting the court’s day-to-day operations in jeopardy in retaliation for investigations of suspected Israeli war crimes,” Reuters reported Wednesday. “Washington has already imposed targeted sanctions on several prosecutors and judges at the court, but naming the court itself in the sanctions list would be a major escalation.”

should have the israeli jet fighters run his flanks and see what the nato buggers do about it

I think that any nation that took another nation’s legitimately elected head of state into custody, especially on BS “international law” charges, deserves what they’d get from the Israelis, good and hard.

Point of order: Netanyahu is a head of government, not a head of state.

Attempting to arrest him would still be treated as an act of war, and resisted with deadly force.

I don’t understand the rush to recognize a “country” that is unwilling to recognize its neighbor (Israel), a “country” that does not have a contiguous territory, a “country” that does not have any history of being a country, a “country that does not have an internationally defined boundary, a “country” that does not have a capitol, and a “country” that has not demonstrated a unified and functioning government. Before one recognizes a country, there are some basic issues to be resolved (perhaps not all of the above but at least most). This seems to be more performative to the domestic politics rather than realistic. But it is good to see the European “powers” once again providing the world with splendid wisdom for the Middle East! Good show!

Looking forward to watching the Israel haters in the GA scurry for the exists as Netanyahu reads the riot act and gloats at Israeli success.

The ICC likes to blather on about how they’re getting justice for women and children across the world… which brings us to Afghanistan. What have they done for the women and children of Afghanistan? Can they attend school again? Work? Until recently, the only action the ICC has taken regarding Afghanistan is to accuse the USA of war crimes.

Highlights the precariousness of airspace jurisdiction, even if your original destination is ‘safe’.

As an example, if you’ve been publically critical of the CCP, be wary of flights that could divert to Hong Kong.

Heck, US gun owners need even to be wary inside CONUS.

Weather interrupted your flight from DFW to Burlington Intl (VT), requiring an emergency overnight in NY? Better not plan on changing your underwear for the morning, because if you take possession of your baggage in NYC, you’ll get smacked for illegal possession. The only legal course open to you is to tell your airline to hold your luggage overnight and forward it to your morning flight. Then maybe it’ll show up in Vermont when you do, or maybe not (and so much for your gun AND your underwear.).

Both Maroon/Macaroon of France, and that sack of $hit that’s the Prime Minister of Spain (unrelenting little stupid socialist clown!!) would have grabbed Netanyahu if they could have. Everybody forgets that ICC treaty was signed, but never ratified by the Senate precisely for the concerns that the treaty itself could not guarantee US citizens the rights they have under the US constitution. One big concern was that some self-righteous idiotic foreign government would start grabbing US citizens off their streets and start prosecuting them for “war crimes” (they had nothing to do with) randomly and effectively ransoming them. Even Clinton’s administration was concerned. Even Obatsh!t’s administration had to be concerned, him being the “Drone Dragon Killer” that he was. We owe nothing to the ICC, and certainly NOTHING to those like Jack Smith who so abused the process that he himself was being pursued for serious prosecutorial misconduct, not that anyone would be surprised of anyone connected with the Biden DOJ.

Seems like simple prudence for Israeli leadership to avoid routes that potentially expose them to the political whims of whacko Nations. Hopefully more and more people will put 2+2 together and get 4 when they realize how many ‘Western’ Nations, NATO members and EU members have signed on to this whacko extremism.

Maybe people will also notice that many of the same Nations (GER, Britain, France, Netherlands to name a few) are adopting speech codes not just for their own people but attempting to apply them to and harm US Citizens and US Corporations. Many are seeking to censor or outright ban opposition political parties and often jailing those who dissent from the ruling establishment.

Then we can walk away from doing business with them and sanction anyone who does. If the Europeans are approaching the sewer of Sharia, they can enjoy the result without our help.

Europe is committing suicide and they resent being told they’re doing it. Anybody who has taken care of an Alzheimic family member can see it and recoginze it.

If Britain falls into the sewer of Sharia, lets hope some Britain with integrity moves their nukes elsewhere before they’re seized and used. Or France for that matter.

The first and most important step is withdrawal from NATO. It was created to serve as a counter to the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact…both of which have been dissolved for more than three decades. It serves no US National Security interest and frankly has led to European Nations reliance on US Military in place of their own. Instead of investing in a competent force they reallocated defense to social programs and raised all sorta of tariff and non tariff barriers to US exports, hurting US workers and US Corporations.

Leaving NATO doesn’t mean abandoning Europe but it does revert the US back to a non interventionist stance heeding Washington’s admonition about ‘entangling alliances’. One where US interests, (defined as what best for the middle 70% of the US population between the bottom and top 15%) are back to the forefront. IOW a focus on Main St and small business v Wall St and global corporations whose interests often conflict with middle class prosperity.

How bout NYC once Zo becomes mayor.

NYC is in the USA. The so-called “warrant” is of no more significance than the fingerpainting your kid brings home from kindergarten. If and when Zo becomes mayor he will have no more authority to “enforce” it than he does now. NYPD would of course refuse any “order” to do so.

Besides, even valid warrants can’t touch people with diplomatic immunity, including anyone there for the UN meeting. That’s why the Iranians can walk around with impunity.

I suspect seizing the leader of a foreign country with which you are not at war, would be considered an act of war.

No stupid country, NATO will not save your Macaroon.

It’s no fun anymore, now that you’re not allowed to open your septic valves over rival countries,

I hope Netanyahu is bringing his own escalator, teleprompter, sound system, and security team.
