Trump Sending National Guard to Memphis
Trump said the Democratic mayor supports the decision.
President Donald Trump announced on Fox & Friends that he will send the National Guard to Memphis, TN.
Trump said the republican governor and Democratic mayor are happy with his decision:
So I think maybe I’ll be the first to say it right now, again, we’re going to Memphis. Memphis is, that’s the next city, deeply troubled, and the mayor is happy. He’s a Democrat mayor. The mayor is happy, and the governor of Tennessee, the governor is happy, deeply troubled. We’re going to fix that just like we did Washington.
I would have preferred going to Chicago. I had a man and a big the head of a big, big railroad, they’re doing a merger, and he wanted to come see me and all that stuff. And I asked him, because, you know, it’s one of the largest train companies, maybe the largest so you can figure out who it is, okay, Union Pacific. And he was in my office, and he started off 45 years ago with the railroad. Such a great sir, sir. I’m a railroader. That’s the kind of guy that should ride again, as opposed to a Wall Street guy that destroys the railroad.
But he’s good financially, and he was a very impressive guy. And I said, “So what do you think? Where should we go next as a city? Because we’re going to go 123, and then we’ll do a few at a time, but where we’re going to straighten out the crime in these cities?”
He said, “Sir, Memphis would be good” because he’s on the board of FedEx. He said, “When I walk one block to my hotel, they won’t allow me to do it. They put me in an armored vehicle with bullet proof glass to take me one block.” He said, “It’s so terrible.”
So we’re going to Memphis. I’m just announcing that now, and we’ll straighten that out National Guard and anybody else we need. And by the way, we’ll bring in the military too if we need it.

Memphis Mayor Paul Young released a statement on Thursday, confirming Gov. Bill Lee and Trump considered sending in the National Guard.
It sounds like he’s okay with it:
Earlier this week, I was informed that the Governor and the President were considering deploying the National Guard and other resources to Memphis. I am committed to working to ensure any efforts strengthen our community and build on our progress. We agree with Governor Lee that effective support for Memphis comes through focused initiatives that deliver results like we have seen with the FBI, state troopers, and other law enforcement partnerships. What we need most are financial resources for intervention and prevention, additional patrol officers, and case support to strengthen MPD’s investigations. Memphis is already making measurable progress in bringing down crime, and we support initiatives that help accelerate the pace of the work our officers, community partners, and residents are doing every day.

Members of the Demonic Party will object.
Some party members are beginning to break. I mean this in both the sense that some have been jolted back into reality and they they’re breaking away from the party.
Check out these videos. They will give you hope that America may actually become great again:

As we used to say in the Army, the Democrat party has stepped on its collective dick with its response to Charlie Kirk’s murder. Some of its (former) supporters noticed and no longer want to be associated with such people.
Also check out this rather shocking video:

That is good news, but by God it came at such a high price

Memphis has turned into a Hell hole
Use to go to Memphis in May, music festival…
Not anymore
It has almost always been a hell hole. Extreme poverty does that to a place and Memphis is at the top of the list. The people there deserve better, and starting with attacking violent crime is a great way to start.
Memphis needed it years ago. Great news. If it works there, Trump deserves Nobel.

What is going to happen when guardsman is killed? Most of them are unarmed and it will be murder. Trump is putting them into situations they have no defense against. It’s almost like using them as bait for a larger plan. I like the results they are achieving but it has its risks. Who will get the blame if one is killed? We know who the left and the msm will blame, but there could be pushback from people who believe all guardsmen should be armed.
Isn’t the guard working with federal law enforcement personnel and local police? If so, then they are accompanying armed LEOs who will be responsible for the safety of NG personnel.
I was in DC a couple weeks ago. All the Guardsman I saw were armed with M4s and/or sidearms. I did not go in the Metro (for obvious reasons). I did hear that the Guardsman stationed there were not armed, at least not initially. Memphis is arguably more dangerous than DC (unbelievably). I agree it would be a colossal mistake to send uniformed service members into the city unarmed.
Do what? It would be murder to kill an armed OR unarmed member of the National Guard in performance of their lawful duties. For that matter every National Guard Soldier has an assigned weapon usually an M4 Rifle. There’s no way they send National Guard out to conduct street patrols acting in a LEO capacity unarmed to confront criminals and make arrests.
I’m not sure they’re acting in a LEO capacity. They may just be “muscle,” a display of force that makes it easier for the police to do their jobs. Likely the Guard’s rules of engagement are “engage when fired upon.” They may never lay a finger on a perp.
I don’t necessarily disagree with that but what Rudy seemed to insinuate was the NG would be walking a beat with their dick in their hands instead of a weapon.
If he has the cooperation of the police and the governor’s office, they shouldn’t be put in those sort of situations because they should be working with the local authorities.
Memphis is no longer in de Nile.
This is particularly funny because Memphis is named after the Egyptian city that once sat ON the Nile (still does, it’s Cairo).
Wikipedia: The city of Memphis is 20 km (12 mi) south of Cairo, on the west bank of the Nile.
I thought Cairo was in Illinois. They make syrup there.
Yeah, I don’t think ‘Memphis’ actually exists…anymore. The ruins of Memphis are in Giza. Giza and Cairo are like Minneapolis/St Paul. They’re the same metroplex, but different; two different municipalities separated by a river (The Nile).
Can’t wait to see Steve Cohen crying his bucket o’ chicken.
I thought he was in Kentucky
Nope. Memphis, TN.
And the inevitable #Resistance Federal district judge blocks the move in 5 …. 4 …. 3 ….
This is a great policy by Trump.
The economy however is making me nervous about the next election.
No one cares what you think, Danny. The minute you think the tide may turn, you’ll be back on that Uniparty train.
I like this. Dems mayors (well, at least two) are coming to realize that Trump can help and that they can polish their reputations as concerned for the well-being of their citizens and being able to work in a comradely bipartisanship. If more Dem mayors see the advantages that working with Trump might provide, it may also lead to some cooling of the jets. If more Dem mayors get on board, it will no longer be politically expeditious to continue demonizing Trump to avoid having their constituents ask, “What, my Dem mayor works with a Nazi?” Dem mayors working with Trump should defuse the nation’s situation and may even help get new, more level-headed Dems elected in some places. Might start a movement that affects the entire party.

My wife and I used to go through Memphis on our way to Bowling Green KY and the National Corvette Museum. It used to be fun stopping there, staying in a hotel close to Beale Street where we could enjoy the Rendezvous Barbecue restaurant and the different music venues there. A few years ago, that changed. The crime and the threat of something bad happening to my Corvette changed our habits and we started staying east of the city. The Gibson guitar factory is still located near downtown there, but I wonder for how much longer.
Knowing Gibson they’ll move it all to China. They did it to their Baldwin piano division.

As far as jobs go, there anything left aside from FedEx?
I had Memphis on absolutely none of my cards. Anybody? Bueller?
Nah. I would have thought Baltimore or Milwaukee or maybe Portland or Seatle.
