Teacher Union Chief Randi Weingarten Holding Virtual Book Event on ‘Teachers Against Fascists’

“Those hell-bent on unraveling democracy, pluralism, and opportunity have always attacked teachers and education”

Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), has proven time and time again that she has no talent for reading the room.

Today, just five days after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Weingarten is holding a virtual event to promote her book about teachers fighting fascism. It’s beyond poor taste to do this, considering this is just the sort of rhetoric that led to Kirk’s murder.

FOX News reports:

Teachers union chief Randi Weingarten promotes book on ‘fascist regimes’ days after Kirk’s assassination

American Federation of Teachers (AFT) chief Randi Weingarten is set to hold a virtual event Tuesday promoting her new book on educators battling “fascist regimes” — an appearance that comes less than a week after the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, reportedly motivated by anti-fascist ideology.

The virtual event is slated to kick off at 4 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday and is hosted by a group called Emerge, a liberal nonprofit that “recruits, trains, and provides a powerful network to Democratic women who want to run for office,” according to its website.

The event will focus on Weingarten’s new book, “Why Fascists Fear Teachers,” and will include Emerge President and CEO A’shanti F. Gholar.

Fox News Digital reached out to the American Federation of Teachers and Emerge inquiring if the event had been canceled in light of Kirk’s assassination or if Weingarten would address his death, but did not receive replies. Promotions for the event are still active on Emerge’s website.

Progressive Magazine describes her book:

Randi Weingarten on Why Fascists Fear Teachers

When former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten “the most dangerous person in the world” in November 2022, the absurd comment led to a flurry of punditry and jokes from late-night TV comics. But Pompeo may have been onto something. No, Weingarten and other educators do not pose a danger to U.S. security or sovereignty. But teachers from pre-K through university do, in fact, challenge the right wing by both championing diversity and inclusion and promoting vigorous ideological debate.

“Those hell-bent on unraveling democracy, pluralism, and opportunity have always attacked teachers and education,” Weingarten writes in her new book, Why Fascists Fear Teachers: Public Education and the Future of Democracy. “It’s a very old playbook. In the 1930s, Hitler and Mussolini persecuted teachers and tried to control the curriculum. Iran’s Cultural Revolution closed universities and restricted academic freedom. From Russia to Indonesia to Hungary to Chile, fascist and authoritarian governments have sought to attack teachers and control not only what students learn but what they think.”

The antidote, Weingarten writes, is two-fold: emancipatory education that brings diverse groups of students together to investigate and probe subjects such as history, culture, literature, and science; and trade unions that bring workers together to build their collective power.

Naturally, Weingarten was one of the many stupid people who shared something stupid about the Kirk assassination online.

No one is attacking teachers. They are criticizing and demanding accountability for INDOCTRINATORS.

The problem is that there are an awful lot of the latter pretending to be the former. Exhibit A: The horrible test results recently reported.

Fascist and Anti-Fascist are as opposite as flammable and inflammable.

I’d like to hear her take on Orwell, Huxley and Rand.

It would be an awful shame is these lefty orgs; public employee unions/NGOs got swept up in a far reaching probe of lefty domestic ‘terrorists’.

We know exactly what she is doing.

Kent Wa school district refused to lower the flag to halfmast.

We know exactly why.

They cannot compete in the marketplace of ideas. They want violence against dissenters. Free speech is their enemy.

like they pretended they had actual evidence on trumps illegal activities

they continue to pretend maga agenda/people are fascists

we need to recapture the educational system from them

they laugh that we pay them our monies to destroy ourselves

She looks like a trans Mel Brooks

This is a very good example of why we need national school choice.

The so called public schools are actually government union indoctrination centers.

The teachers unions think that they are unaccountable to parents and voters because for many years they have been.

Education in this country will never improve until these radical organizations lose their control over our nation’s schools.

So long as it is one State at a time to get there then sure. What we don’t want is to nationalize K-12 and end up in the future with a lefty POTUS and majority lefty Congress who roll back the now nationalized school choice program. Let the voters in each State choose, more and more of them are moving to ‘true’ choice where funding follows the Student.

It is the taxpayers/citizens money not the government unions or bureaucrats’ money. Even in blue states or cities taxpaying citizens should be able to use the money they pay in taxes to send their children to the school of their choice. It should not be decision of the government union (which I think should be illegal) or of career unelected bureaucrats. There should not be forced indoctrination by leftist radicals anywhere in this country. If leftist parents want to send their children to those indoctrination centers and pay for that is their right. There should be no right or system forcing their ideology on everyone else.

On top of that they’re all pedagogues.

How would that fascist know about opposing fascism? She’s spent her whole life working to impose it on the US.

That guy is a f’n idiot.

Weingarten ignores the reality that public education in Nazi Germany was the platform to indoctrinate children into being ‘good little Nazis’ with diversity of thought prohibited, and those who strayed from party positions imperilled, just as is the case for those who fail to kowtow to Woke, Leftist, Democrat doctrine and dogma.

You made me shudder. I went to elementary school during the HUAC days. More than one of my teachers use the phrase “good little citizen“ and told us to be such. This involved everything from folding our hands in front of us, keeping our mouths shut and not questioning anything we were being taught. To do otherwise that we were not “good little citizens“.

For being ‘Teacher’ they never learned the definition of Fascism.

Why should K-12 educators bring politics into the classroom? What could go wrong there? Could that be justification to decertify public sector teacher union?

Whenever a filthy leftist says fascist, just read it as “normal Americans.” The other thing we know from this union slug’s comment is Democrat’s were never serious with their calls to “tone down the rhetoric” because their campaign of hatred never broke stride. Finally, this reveals “both sides” as a bold face propaganda lie.
