IDF Eliminates Several Hamas Commanders as Gaza City Offensive Unfolds

U.S.-Israel alliance “durable as stones of Western Wall,” Netanyahu tells Rubio on his first official visit to Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified strikes on Hamas targets in and around Gaza City as troops completed the encirclement of the terrorist stronghold.

“Israel is on the brink of a pivotal week as its forces mass at Gaza’s western neighborhoods, finalizing preparations for a renewed ground maneuver dubbed “Gideon Chariots II”,” Israel’s Ynetnews observed on Sunday. “Military planners say the coming maneuver will unfold gradually, with brigade combat teams tightening a ring around the city.”

“IDF troops are continuing to operate against the terrorist organizations throughout the Gaza Strip,” the military said in a statement Sunday.”In the Jabaliya area and on the outskirts of Gaza City, IDF troops continue dismantling terror infrastructure sites and eliminating Hamas terrorists. Over the past day, the troops eliminated numerous terrorists and dismantled terror infrastructure sites.”

IDF destroys more Gaza City high-rises serving as Hamas observation posts

The military also struck two more tall buildings serving as Hamas observation posts, spying on Israeli advances on the ground.”A short while ago, the IDF struck two high-rise buildings that were used by the Hamas terrorist organization in the area of Gaza City,” the IDF said in a separate statement. “Hamas terrorists planted intelligence gathering means and positioned observation posts to monitor the location of IDF troops in the area, and to advance terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and IDF troops.”

The strikes were carried out after prior evacuation warnings to reduce civilian casualties, the IDF confirmed.

Despite Hamas setting illegal roadblocks and ambushing civilians leaving Gaza City,  nearly a third of the area’s population appears to have moved to safe zones in the south, heeding IDF’s repeated calls.

More than 300,000 Palestinians have so far evacuated Gaza City to other areas of the Strip, according to fresh IDF estimates,” The Times of Israel reported Sunday. “Around one million Palestinians were estimated to be residing in Gaza City before the IDF began to prepare for a major offensive against the Hamas terror group there.”

IDF eliminates several Hamas commanders and terrorists, including October 7 perpetrators

As part of the ongoing military operation, the IDF eliminated several Hamas commanders as well as terrorists who took part in the atrocities on October 7, 2023.

“In activities by IDF troops in the Gaza Strip over the past month, troops from the 282nd Brigade eliminated several terrorists and field commanders of the Hamas terrorist organization,” the IDF announced. “Among the terrorists eliminated was Yousef Mahmoud Mohammad Jumaa, head of a Hamas terrorist cell who infiltrated Kibbutz Alumim and took part in the brutal massacre of October 7th. He planned and carried out terrorist attacks against the State of Israel and IDF troops during the war.”

The military continues its hunt for terrorists who invaded Israel on October 7 and took part in the massacre. “In the past month, the brigade eliminated more than 20 terrorists from the terrorist organizations operating in the Gaza Strip, including terrorists who infiltrated Israeli territory and took part in the brutal massacre of October 7th,” the IDF added.

U.S.-Israel alliance “durable as stones of Western Wall,” Netanyahu tells Rubio on his first official visit to Israel

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Jerusalem on his first visit to Israel since taking office.

Secretary Rubio told reporters in Jerusalem that the U.S.-Israeli relationship was “very strong” despite recent disagreements over the Israeli strike to take out Hamas terrorist leadership in Qatar.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accompanied Secretary Rubio to Jerusalem’s Western Wall. The visit by the top U.S. envoy is “a testament to the durability, the strength of the Israeli-American alliance. It’s as strong and as durable as the stones of the Western Wall we just touched,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said.

The Jerusalem Post reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon.

“The visit of the American Secretary of State is a testament to the strong relationship between the United States and Israel. We greatly appreciate the visit,” Netanyahu said at the conclusion of the visit.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee was also in attendance.

Earlier, after arriving in Israel, Rubio addressed Israel’s war in Gaza and the Israeli strikes on Hamas leadership in Qatar, among other regional issues.

Speaking to reporters before departure, Rubio reiterated that the US and President Donald Trump were not happy about the strikes.

Rubio said the US relationship with Israel would not be affected, but that he would discuss with the Israelis how the strike would affect Trump’s desire to secure the return of all the hostages held by Hamas, get rid of the terrorist group, and end the Gaza war.

One of the things I give Trump all credit and can’t think of a single reason he shouldn’t be praised for is he has been THE perfect ally of Israel.

However I really do need to point out that this isn’t Trump’s campaign (if it was it would have ended at least a year ago with victory) and how Gaza hasn’t already completed the temporary occupation before being handed over to post-Hamas Gazans who will keep the peace and start the de radicalization so the next generation can have peace……….

The only explanation I could think of is Netanyahu is more afraid of having an occupation than he is of an Israeli defeat.

We saw Hamas leadership targeted and eliminated before. I think Israel should be praised for the precision it achieved and for the fact that it has actually performed the closest to humane war in an urban environment in history.

However it is nearing year three, the media has been fully dehumanizing Israel and fighting for Hamas since October 8th, while anti-Semites are a problem the Israel world opinion collapse is because people who aren’t anti-Semites believe what media says, and the longer this war goes on the harder the repair will be for Israel.

If this isn’t an attempt to actually clear Hamas from Gaza this time instead of hyping it Netanyahu should pull the plug.

If it is an attempt to end the war in victory time is of the essence anyway.

It isn’t just Europeans American public opinion while it hasn’t reached European levels yet is in the process of turning on Israel.

There are good reasons why the U.S. doctrine does make time of the essence. The longer an active war goes on the easier it is for public opinion to turn against the war causing a defeat (see Vietnam).

I am not anti-Israel, I think Israel deserves great praise for how careful it has been to limit civilian casualties.

However this war needs to find a conclusion, and it is hard to see any way a longer war helps Israel unless it is involving a victory very quickly that still ends it soon.

Define ‘victory’. What does that look like on the ground? What are the specific actions/requirements that must be met in order for ‘victory’ to be achieved? What is your definition of ‘very quickly’?

Hamas is a chronic disease. It needs to be kept at bay but like Herpes will rear up occasionally.

Victory means Hamas gone and Israel is in control and has the option to have an occupation, or hand over Gaza to the faction of their choice. Defeat means Hamas remains in any shape or form (because that means history is written by the Hamas Ministry of Health).

Both are infinitely preferable to “occasionally target Hamas operatives, till we are in a situation worst than apartheid South Africa”.

I am not comparing the two nations, I am merely pointing out that is the level of isolation Israel is facing right now.

Very quickly means measured in days to weeks instead of years and decades. Frankly Israel doesn’t have weeks it is on borrowed time made possible purely by Donald Trump.

Accepting defeat there is a tiny chance Israel endures

Victory there is a high chance Israel endures by eliminating the Hamas Ministry of Health and by being in control discrediting the “genocide” claim

Eternal warfare turning Israel into a pariah means a 100% chance of being eliminated.

Israelis are not North Koreans, they are not willing to live in that way of life.

Danny, I think one reason for this war being so lengthy is the population density of Gaza and Hamas’s use of the population as shields. If Israel kills too many civilians, it will be demonized for that as well. So, it’s a trade-off between civilian deaths and length of war, and the Israeli way in war is to avoid killing civilians.

      I agree that hasn’t helped.

However it has been three years.

I hope I am wrong but so far every time Netanyahu has promised a final offensive to end the war never mind has followed.

For some context of exactly how damaging the war is for Israel.

European countries have decided against French made and designed air-defense and have instead opted for American and Israeli designed.

Having the best currently available air defense against Russia (which ONLY has the ability to threaten them from the air due to results on the ground in Ukraine) isn’t enough to prevent Europe’s turn on Israel. Europe claims to be terrified of Russia yet having the best available defense (according to their grading of weapons systems) against the only effective part of the Russian military seems unimportant in comparison to being against Israel.

Italy is one of the opponents of the push to remove Israel from European cultural events, trade, science etc

Italy has imposed a total ban on any arms export to Israel.

Even in America opinion is turning against Israel.

What Israel is facing now internationally is existential.

I suspect the slowness is due to Israel wanting to avoid IDF casualties. Urban guerrilla warfare is extremely dangerous. That’s why they’re blowing up buildings instead of trying to capture them. I think it’s folly to second guess the IDF.

Occupation would be difficult, but Hamas delenda est. Kill Hamas every chance they get.

Danny in reply to EBL. | September 15, 2025 at 12:55 am

      I agree to some extent.

An occupation for a brief period while Israel finds a reliable autocrat who has clout due to tribal affiliations and wants peace for the next generation (i.e. baby steps like what Saudi Arabia is doing) is possible.

ConradCA in reply to Danny. | September 15, 2025 at 3:36 pm

Israel shouldn’t worry about civilian casualties. The. Palestinians support Hamas and need to suffer the consequences of their support of evil. I think that Trump should demand that Hamas free the hostages in one week or face unpleasant consequences. If the refuse then we should load up 100 B52s with incendiaries and bomb Gaza until Hamas surrenders..

It does need to find a conclusion and the only way that happens is with the elimination of Hamas as a military/political force.

They need to be treated like the Malaysian communists and the Sri Lankan Tamil Tigers were treated. Anything short of that will just guarantee there will not be peace any time soon.

Also, the Jews absolutely must ignore Europe.

DaveGinOly in reply to mailman. | September 14, 2025 at 4:39 pm

Recent history has demonstrated to Israel that ceasefires, rather than victory, lead to more aggression and death from the Muslim terror group du jour. Ultimately, without regime change in Iran, new terror networks bent on Israel’s destruction will continue to pop up. This is not to say that Hamas shouldn’t be destroyed because it will just be replaced. It does mean that Israel will be involved in the business of killing terrorists for the foreseeable future, even if they crush Hamas. The problem is Iran.

I agree with what you said except for Jews must ignore Europe (that is suicidal at best) with the caveat that if it is a choice of the war continuing forever or defeat……

I just don’t see survival as a North Korea like rogue state if it is even possible to reach that once Europe fully turns.

The IAF should develop a side hustle – precision building demolition.

destroycommunism | September 14, 2025 at 4:59 pm

there is no end to the war

blmplo has to surrender for their to even be a notion of peace

otherwise the message is clear that the genocide of israel is the only way the dnc of the middle east will stop their violence

In leu of worrying about Gaza and occupations, I would urge Americans to beware of the Islamic movement in America.

Frezz in the hizzy | September 15, 2025 at 10:53 am

Last night, my daughter, who was a college sophomore and I got into a discussion about what’s happening over there. She is a very sensible girl and not at all doctrinaire in her views of things. She is very upset about what she called genocide in Gaza.

I made my quick points:
1. The last election in Gaza was in 2006 and very soon after around 200 of the opposition leadership were killed – turn off buildings the whole 9 yards. There’s been no election since.
2. Israel provides food, water and electricity on a daily basis to Gaza and the UN itself even admitted recently that over 85% of their own logistical shipments have been seized by local leaders, not making this way immediately to the people.
3. Hamas is a death cult that has over time made it a priority to torment and kill Jews, see October 7. They will not “live and let live.”
4. Netanyahu is a hard man, but he sees now a small window of opportunity to go in and rip the roots up and they are doing that – they will often time drop leaflets to warn citizens and as best I can tell seem to do their best to avoid innocent death, which is practically impossible when Hamas sets up their spaces in the basement of a hospital, for example.
5. It is beyond ghoulish the way they have taken hostages and even hold their corpses hostage.
6. The word genocide is very strong and I see it as being misused in this way. She sees it as apt, even though it is hopefully not the explicit aim of the IDF.

The point she is making is that you see a video of the street in Gaza and people milling around in the street and then suddenly some apartment building explodes. It doesn’t square as justified with the logical mind viewing it. Hamas is resisting in a non-conventional manner.

I think what Danny is saying and I have to agree, is that a just war perhaps is being fought – but the justification as time goes on becomes very narrow – Hamas is effectively fighting a guerrilla war – and it probably should be door-to-door as nearly as possible as impossible as that must be.
