Elected Officials Fuel Near Riot at NYC ICE Facility

The mask slipped in Manhattan this week as a group of radical elected officials staged a lawless sit-in at an immigration holding facility, and chaos followed. More than a dozen Democrat politicians were among those arrested as the protest spiraled into a full riot, capped off by a bomb threat that forced federal authorities to lock down the building.

According to NBC News:
“More than a dozen elected officials were arrested Thursday while protesting conditions at a New York City immigration holding facility where a federal judge this week extended a court order requiring the government to shape up its treatment of detainees.
The officials — including the city’s fiscal watchdog and state lawmakers — were among 77 people detained during protests at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan. The government building, home to immigration court, the FBI’s New York field office and other federal offices, has become a hotbed of arrests and detention amid President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.”
This was no harmless “oversight visit.” Eleven politicians forced their way inside the building, sat down in the hallway, and disrupted federal business. As NBC News detailed:
“Eleven officials were arrested inside the building while attempting to inspect holding rooms on the 10th floor … But federal agents barred them from entering the holding rooms and arrested them as news reporters and photographers documented the scene. The arrests happened as the officials were conducting a sit-in in the hallway, encircled around a sign showing a slash through the word ‘ICE.’ Agents bound their hands with plastic ties, lined them up against a wall and paraded them down a hall.”
Federal security officials were blunt about what happened. Homeland Security’s Tricia McLaughlin singled out NYC Comptroller Brad Lander for turning the protest into a reckless circus:

“Another day, another sanctuary politician pulling a stunt in [an] attempt to get their 15 minutes of fame while endangering DHS personnel and detainees,” McLaughlin said, adding that “Lander’s obsession with attacking the brave men and women of law enforcement, physically and rhetorically, must stop NOW.”
After their arrests, the situation escalated even further. As the New York Post confirmed:
“They were given summonses and released.
The building was later locked down because of a telephoned bomb threat, authorities said.”

Think about that: taxpayer-funded elected officials broke the law, disrupted federal agents, endangered detainees, and stirred up such chaos that a federal building housing both ICE and the FBI had to be shut down under a bomb threat.
Other Democrat politicians arrested included Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, State Sen. Julia Salazar, and City Council Member Tiffany Caban. Far from condemning the dangerous stunt, these lawmakers doubled down, falsely accusing federal agents of cruelty while refusing to acknowledge their own reckless behavior.

This wasn’t a peaceful protest; it was a reckless, riot-like behavior by people who should know better. These elected officials, like their counterparts in Los Angeles, disgraced their offices, endangered law enforcement and detainees alike, and potentially triggered the following bomb threat and lockdown of a federal building. They should be ashamed of themselves, and their constituents should demand accountability for their lawless behavior.

this is insurrection. hold them without bail. sentence them to 2 years behind bars or more. the precedence has been set.
At least send them to Gitmo until their trials. They’re dangerous terrorists, in my estimation.
Meh, put the goons into pretrial detention and hold them until their trail date. Federal Court docket kinda clogged with nuisance/law fare suits. Might be some delay but I’m sure they won’t mind being held in detention far from any accomplices in Louisiana or Alabama for the duration.
If they refuse to get out of the way of a vehicle, run them over. If they assault a federal officer, shoot them and I’m not talking with rubber bullets.
