Just the News reported that in 2017, an intelligence officer who worked for the Democrats on the House Intelligence committee told the FBI that then-Rep. Adam Schiff approved leaking classified information to hurt then-President Donald Trump regarding Russia.
The whistleblower is a Democrat and considers themselves friends with Schiff and former Rep. Devin Nunes.
The latest interview with the whistleblower happened in St. Louis, MO, in 2023.
Rep. Eric Swalwell’s name appears, too.
According to the documents, the whistleblower attended an all-staff meeting called by Schiff:
In this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States Donald J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to Indict President TRUMP. [blacked out] stated this would be illegal and, upon hearing his concerns, unnamed members of the meeting reassured [blacked out] that they would not be caught leaking classified information.
“The leaks were driven from the top; they were structured and intentional,” the notes read on page 12. “The message conveyed to the staff was the U.S. was facing a constitutional crisis and something needed to be done.”
When approached again, the whistleblower described leaking classified intel as “unethical and treasonous.”
The issue weighed heavily on the whistleblower, who then sought out ways to report what they knew.
The whistleblower contacted the FBI, leading to many conversations with two unnamed agents.
The FBI invited the whistleblower to participate in a mock grand jury with the DOJ.
Unfortunately, the whistleblower found out “that the issue would not be investigated further by the DOJ, as Congressmen have immunity to all speech and actions made on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.”
The decision confused the whistleblower because they did not think “that the activity he witnessed would be protected by this legal provision.”
This happened in 2017 when Trump was in his first term. I find it odd that his DOJ did not want to pursue the allegations. If no one could do anything with it in the courts, then at least tell the media.
Anyway, the whistleblower told a Republican colleague that the committee terminated his employment because he didn’t show “party loyalty.”
The colleague went out for drinks with the whistleblower, who informed the the colleague about backlash:
[blacked out] emphasized that this was not a one-time thing. Under the system established by [blacked out], notes would run up to the ranking member, ADAM SCHIFF, after which a decision was made as to who would leak the information. [blacked out] alleged that this process remained in place under the Minority Staff Director who succeeded [blacked out], though two other minority staffers, [blacked out] and [blacked out] – also refused to leak.
Hmmmm….it sounds like Schiff wanted revenge because “all hell broke loose” after Trump won. Apparently, Schiff thought failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would appoint him as CIA director.
Schiff told the staff “to drive the ‘Russian involvement’ issue into a joint inquiry, similar to the 9/11 commission.” Schiff even pushed to make Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security advisor, as a focus and gather info about his contact with Russia.
Unfortunately, due to so many redactions, I’m having a hard time keeping track of who is who.
The whistleblower heard other staff members talking about sharing information “with a particular foreign government” and another using “his spouse’s phone to make calls” to conceal his identity.
But one incident caused the whistleblower to confront the committee over leaking information. Swalwell’s name comes into play here:
According to [blacked out], a particularly sensitive document made available by [blacked out], viewed by a small contingent of staff, as well as SCHIFF and Representative ERIC SWALWELL. Within 24 hours, the information appeared in the news almost verbatim and [blacked out] officials descended upon HPSCI’s offices, threatening to stop providing information unless the leaking ended. [blacked out] suspected that SWALWELL played a role in the leak and noted that SWALWELL previously had been warned to be careful because he had a reputation for leaking classified information.
Interesting…
Schiff admitted the committee did not have enough information to impeach Trump.
However, many people stuck with Schiff, thinking he would rise up through the ranks and take them with him.
