Trump Stresses He Won’t Put American Troops in Ukraine
Trump scheduled a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr and many European leaders on Monday as a way to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine.
This morning, Trump told Fox & Friends that he will not put American troops in Ukraine.
“You have my assurance,” Trump stressed. “I’m the president, and I’m just trying to stop people from being killed.
Trump reiterated that both sides lose thousands of people every day.
"What kind of assurances do you feel like you have that… it won't be American boots on the ground defending that border [in Ukraine]?" @POTUS: "You have my assurance — and I'm President. I'm just trying to stop people from being killed." pic.twitter.com/mzmYxtK0HJ

Trump also said he arranged a meeting between Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He will not attend this meeting:
No, I thought I at first, let him, let them meet. You know, they haven’t been exactly best friends. They haven’t gotten along very well. And I called President Putin yesterday, and I do have a good relationship, but it, you know, only matters if we get things done. Otherwise, I don’t care about the relationship. I do have a good relationship with him, but I want to get things done.
You know, I’ve gotten I’ve solved seven wars. We ended seven wars. I thought this would be one of the easier ones, and this is turned out to be the toughest one. India, Pakistan, I mean, those these were big ones, and also all big ones, and some going for 3132 years, one for 35 years, the Congo. Think of that, the Congo and Rwanda for 35 years. I got that one done. I got them all done.
But this one is the one that is the most difficult. And I thought it would be an easy one.
So I hope President Putin is going to be good, and if he’s not, it’s going to be a rough situation, and I hope that Zelenskyy, President Zelenskyy, will do what he has to do. He has to show some flexibility.
Also, the thing is a mess. This was started by Joe Biden. This was a war that should have never happened. Millions of people are dead. The country has blown to pieces, Ukraine, and it’s a it’s a shame.
"Yesterday, you talked about arranging a meeting to take place in two weeks between Putin and Zelensky — is there an update there and do you plan to attend?"@POTUS: "I thought I'd first let them meet — they haven't been exactly best friends… It only matters if we get things… pic.twitter.com/0VrNMvNEpZ

Trump truly hates war. He wants to end all the wars. Apparently, one of the European leaders said yesterday that they should meet again in a month or two:
One of the things at the table was one of the gentlemen, who’s a great guy, but he said, I hope I didn’t insult him. He said, “Well, let’s meet in another month or two, and let’s see if we can start, you know, making some sense.” I said, “A MONTH OR TWO!? You’re going to have another 40,000 people dead in a month or two — you have to do it TONIGHT.”
And I did, actually, I called President Putin, and we’re trying to work out a meeting with President Zelenskyy. We’ll see what happens there, and then, if that works out, if it works out, then I’ll go to the trilateral and close it up.
.@POTUS: "One of the gentlemen… he said, 'Well, let's meet in another month or two…' I said, 'A MONTH OR TWO? You're going to have another 40,000 people dead in a month or two — you have to do it TONIGHT.' And I did actually, I called President Putin and we're trying to work… pic.twitter.com/418xxn9apH

So if the meeting goes well, Trump would attend a second meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy:
We had a very good call, and I told him that we’re going to set up a meeting with President Zelenskyy, and you and he will meet, and then after that meeting, if everything works out, okay, I’ll, I’ll, I’ll meet, and we’ll wrap it up.
But you know, it takes, in this case, two to tango. They have to have somewhat of a relationship, otherwise, we’re just wasting a lot of time. I don’t want to be doing that for I just want to end it. I want to end it.
You know, we’re not losing American lives. We’re not losing American soldiers. We’re losing Russians and Ukrainians, mostly soldiers. Some people as missiles hit wrong spots or get lobbed into cities like Kiev and towns.
"I told him that we're going to set up a meeting with President Zelensky, and you and he will meet, and then after that meeting, if everything works out OK, I'll meet and we'll wrap it up," says @POTUS on yesterday's call to Putin.

Trump also repeated that Ukraine will not join NATO. I know the left will jump on these statements, leaving out the fact that NATO and the EU have never even cracked the door open for Ukraine.
The EU and NATO know they would feel Russia’s wrath if Ukraine joins either organization.

I trust Trump on “no boots on the ground”
The rest of RINOs not so much. Making sure we don’t get entangled in 2029 and beyond …
No boots on the ground leaves room for planes or drones in the air and ships in the black sea. Also allows US satellite recon to Ukraine. How about saying no US military involvement.
Despite the warmongering RINOs like Graham and McConnell, there was zero scenario where the American people were going to support sending American troops to fight in Ukraine.
And if these last few months after Zelensky’s tantrum in the White House have demonstrated, its that the EU won’t do anything other than donate a tiny pittance to Ukraine and post slogans while whining the US isn’t giving them enough graft.
Americans are through with this farce.
One reason I could never do the POTUS job. As Commander in Chief, the President is responsible for sending young men, primarily, to die. Sometimes that is necessary, but the bar would be very, very high.
I detest John Kerry but his question “what do you say to the family of the last kid to die?” was on target.
The fool that suggested a meeting in a couple months. What do you say to the maybe 40K dead? I might have punched him.
The long term cost of those young people who didn’t get to live? Incalculable.
My father was killed about three weeks before the bomb dropped on Japan. My mother carried a picture of him in her purse until she died 75 years later. Her lifelong lament: “they took the best.”
The question “what do you say to the family of the last kid to die?” was irresposible especially for someone who hungered to be POTUS like Kerry. Having said that force should only be used when US interests are threatened and it should always be overwhelming with clear achievable objectives and no half measured. The US has engaged in a lot of half measures since WW2 and has put politics over the lives of its soldiers? If the lawyers want to craft restrictive ROE give them a rifle and put them on the front lines. They can craft them from there with their ass on the line.
“Her lifelong lament: “they took the best.”
A lot of people saying the same thing to explain why today’s Europe is run by clowns.
That might explain UK, France, Germany, Poland, Russia and a few others but not all European countries had troops engaged,
It’s a drone war so there’s no need to be there.
well if we get the peace we need and the usa has access to rare earth minerals etc
then troops on the ground might be needed
sure,,not as the “military” in a fighting sense
so f off lefty
Why don’t we just buy the rare earth minerals and whatever else we can source from willing sellers? Russia has most of them inside Russia proper and they now control about 40% of what deposits Ukraine used to have. They ain’t gonna give it back. Why not support capitalism and just buy from them?
There is zero US nation security interest in the outcome of two Eastern European megalomaniac leaders choosing to fight it out….with one important exception; keeping the USA well clear of this tar baby situation stoked by the Europeans, the globalists and the neocon all of whom are running their own grift. The Europeans are wagging the dog with this thing to try and distract their population from domestic problems… like their failing economies, their failed ‘green energy’ plans, spiking costs for energy, layoffs/closings of their manufacturing base …and the consequences arriving for their own foolish open borders plans. The leadership class/intelligentsia of EU is running scared b/c the center/right Populist movements are gaining steam and they have no answer other than to falsely accuse them of all sorts of ‘ists and isms’ and try to ban their political parties.
I would have to think that we are open to buying from anyone ( as already proven) but if any country says here we will sell you this and you you give $ or provide security…pretty much the same thing …the costs are being paid by the taxpayers and hopefully not with our lives
The EU has been pitting the usa against china /ussr as much as possible …not surprisingly
its politics
Your argument was essentially that boots on the ground might be required as the price to get access to rare earth minerals. That isn’t the case b/c Russia has vast deposits of multiple rare earth minerals in Russia proper and now controls about 40% of what rare earth minerals Ukraine used to have via conquest. We could avoid boots on the ground by buying from Russia.
There is zero equivalence between the Federal Government spending the lives of our Sons and Daughters and a private company making a private contract to purchase these materials. The leftists in all their variations make that sort of argument; Commies, Socialists even National Socialists believe in blurring/removing the distinction between public and private action.
Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a MAG unit there already
stupid question mostly cuz i don’t know enuff about EU.
agree no NATO…
but isn’t EU about trading n market
share…
No longer. Now it’s also an additional layer of extra National Regulatory Regime, Financial/Currency harmonization, an extra National layer of Judiciary. In addition there’s a parallel EU immigration policy and growing foreign policy. There’s also been some movement on the EU creating it’s own EU controlled, separate from NATO, Military force manned by its constituent Nations…but the decades long lack of serious investment in military spending left them without sufficient resources to do it.
Yeah, same as Social Security was just about retirement income, and would never be used for identification.
Trump has also said he won’t rule out US boots on the ground. So which is TACO Don actually going with?
