Ohio Man Admits to Assaulting Students Simply Because They Were Jewish
“No American should fear being violently attacked based on their religious beliefs”

Ohio man pleads guilty to assaulting students because they were Jewish
An Ohio man pleaded guilty on Friday to an assault against Ohio State University students because they were Jewish, the Justice Department announced the same day.
Tipp City resident Timur Mamatov admitted to violating the Hate Crimes Prevention Act when he attacked two students outside a Columbus bar on November 10, 2023.
The 20-year-old and a friend had engaged in an altercation with five students, during which he asked one wearing a Chai pendant if they were Jewish. When the student confirmed that he was, Mamatov punched the victim, resulting in a fractured jaw. A second victim suffered a fractured nose in the fight. The university said at the time that one of the students was hospitalized and released.
Ohio Southern District US Attorney Dominick Gerace II said in a Friday press release that Mamatov had admitted in court “he assaulted victims because they were Jewish.”
“No American should fear being violently attacked based on their religious beliefs,” said Gerace.
FBI Criminal Investigative Division Assistant Director Jose Perez also noted that “Hate crimes not only impact the victims but have a devastating impact on our entire community.” Mamatov faces up to 10 years in prison for violating the Hate Crimes Prevention Act.

The Columbus City Attorney’s office dropped ethnic intimidation charges against two women accused of vandalizing a Jewish student center near Ohio State University’s campus.
Lena Shabaneh, 20, and Oumaima Amri, 22, both of Hilliard, pleaded guilty on Sept. 13 to a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass, Franklin County Municipal Court records show.
Authorities initially charged Shabaneh and Amri with ethnic intimidation, petty theft and criminal mischief in addition to the trespass charge. Those charges were dismissed during the Sept. 13 hearing.

must sit down and listen to “jewish people” and their hurts
must write a rap song on how he was wrong to have “possibly” hurt people
Some things come to mind.
1) Jewish communities should consider a return to what I think were called the Maccabees at the turn of the last century. Jewish men in pairs of two patrolling their neighborhoods and taking care of problems because the police – who obey orders – turned a blind eye to the problems.
2) Every Jew should learn some form of REAL martial art. Not something offered in some strip-mall “studio” but something real. Something taught by retired or ex-military folks willing to help out. Krav Magah, or something that is real, not for show.
3) Jewish children: see #2
4) Firearms training for as many as are willing to take it. This goes right down to youngsters of an age where the parents feel they can be responsible. Plenty of kids in my generation got a .22 rifle before they were out of single-digit age if raised right.
5) Stop wringing hands and oy-ing. FIGHT BACK.
Isn’t there a “Maccabees” neighborhood defense group somewhere in NYC?
I don’t know if they are still around. I don’t have the pleasure of being a resident of New York City.
The Maccabees were in the mid 1960s. However there is now Shomrim.

BJJ, a striking art like Muay Thai, and Filipino stick fighting would be on my list. Not protection against a gun but certainly up to and including knives.
