Gavin Newsom Doubles Down on Mocking ‘Thoughts and Prayers,’ Targets Mike Johnson

“These sociopaths mock and shame grieving Christians for praying and then double down by mocking and trying to shame them with their own religious scripture.”

Democrats always figure out ways to make bad or horrific situations worse, and last week was no exception to the rule, where they used the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis to bash conservative Christians for offering up thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.

Tragically, two children were killed, 15 more children were injured (some seriously), and three elderly parishioners were also hurt in the attack. Reportedly, the children were praying when the transgender gunman, 23-year-old Robert “Robin” Westman, opened fire through the windows.

Legal Insurrection extensively documented some of the “thoughts and prayers” talking points Democrats used that day to try and make their supposed point. One of them was a tweet from California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who used reports that the children were praying when they were killed to take desperate, cheap shots against Christians, including those in the Trump administration:

How Democrats can think that the line of attack that goes something like “let’s mock and pile on Christians and the importance of prayer in their daily lives on the same day a K-8 Catholic school was hit by a mass shooter” is a mystery to me, but then again, Democrats rarely make sense to people who live in the real world anymore, so go figure.

In the case of Newsom, apparently, he thought it was a good idea to double down on the faith-based attacks by zeroing in on House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Friday over his defense of prayer and his criticisms of Democrats for being wildly out of touch.

Except this time around, Newsom quoted a Bible verse:

Setting aside the very real possibility that someone from Newsom’s moonbatty press team probably had to do a Google search for a verse they thought would work and give it to him, the insinuation that Newsom made there, that conservative Christians can’t be true Christians because they don’t cotton to leftist/woke dogma on hot button issues like gun control really was a new low for him.

It’s a place he really shouldn’t have gone, and X users let him have it:

Yeah. I mean, faithful Christians who pray regularly and who understand the power of prayer don’t say things like Newsom did. I’m not going to call anyone’s faith into question, but I will say that the math doesn’t add up here, if you catch my meaning.

Assuming Newsom does what we all know he wants to do and runs for president in 2028, this is an area he does not want to go into should he make it beyond the primaries. I mean, I’m hoping he does because he will absolutely get torched for it and drag vulnerable Democrats down with him, but if he’s smartened up by that point and knows what’s good for him, he won’t.

The sophisticated will scoff, because Satan’s press agents are so good, but there is no question who really calls the shots in today’s progressive universe.

“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist”.

You have to understand: When you get into bed with the devil, you will ultimately have to fuck one day
Mention of God and all things good irritates their demons

I’m more of a Deist these days but just b/c that’s my own belief doesn’t mean I am correct. That’s why we use the word ‘Faith’ and not ‘proof’. Nor does my own Faith choice/beliefs invalidate the Faith, beliefs, dogma of others. Are there hypocrites in organized religion? Yep. Are there those who falsely present themselves as devout but have lost Faith or never really embraced it? Yep. Neither of those undermine the very real beliefs of others. IMO mocking the beliefs or attempts to trivialize the religious beliefs of others, especially when seeking to apply Scripture for temporal not spiritual reasons as a moral lever to demand compliance for public policy reasons simply reveals the moral bankruptcy of those making these duplicitous attempts to gain control.

Thoughts and prayers are people entertaining themselves.

“Thoughts and Prayers” are a form of empathy..something I thought the Left was big on. What should one say… “tough luck there”. In belittling those who pray, the Left wants action, their action predicated on their beliefs. “Let us make man in our own image”..as appropriated from some ancient text. About 12 years ago, during a voice vote on what to include as a plank in the Democrat Party , the reference to God was voted down. Stunned, the officiator asked again and still came back with a voice vote of “No”. He offered it up a third time and again “No,” Aside from a Biblical connotation of Peter, the Dems struck any mantion to “God” three times. Now, I can only guess that in the future, a powerful wing of the Dem Party will dare the vote to go against Allah.

“”There are, besides, eternal truths, such as freedom, etc., that are common to all states of society. But Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience.” – Karl Marx”

Welcome to the path of the Democrat Party… a “shining path”. To quote Chevy Chase in the movie, “Spies Like Us”… “we mock what we don’t understand”.

Not clicking on your video, fascist.

rhhardin,

I will pray for you this week that you will be entertained by the peace, grace, and joy that faithful prayer can bring, even in the middle of great tragedy.

Try it before you bash it.

The part about think the best of people instead of the worst is commendable. Augustine.

It’s not great tragedy. It’s a minor child fatality count played for click bait. Three children a day die in traffic accidents, three a day die by drowning. No headlines for those, and that’s every day.

I can only hope to be praying when I die.

A loon deliberately targeting children to murder them, treating them as mere props in his death fantasy is not comparable to an accidental death. Both are tragic losses of life but one was a deliberate and premeditated action. Our criminal justice system makes this simple distinction in the terms we use to describe and differentiate between the two separate events.

So you want to think about the perp. That puts you on the evil side of this post.

Seek help from a mental health professional. Preferably one who came back from Vietnam and went to get their degrees on the GI Bill and has 40 years of experience. Maybe then they would have run across someone with the same loose screws as you and can assist. Be sure to ask for thorazine when you turn yourself in to voluntary commitment.

There’s a formula by the way. A child death in a school bus is clickbait, but counts as an accident.

You idiot. Why are you here?
A child dying in a school bus wreck is an accident.
A child being shot while praying in a church (or doing anything else) is a murder.
An accident is a tragedy. A murder is a premeditated evil.
You and your “clickbait” can get bent.

A tragedy is a shockingly bad occurrence that may involve death or serious injuries. It is generally beyond the control of any individual (and often thought of as an act of God). An atrocity is an extremely cruel and generally violent act perpetrated intentionally by evil-doers. What we have here is an atrocity.

The problem is, that Prayer is not a “solve all” . God hears it all, knows it all, but also, of course, knows who is serious – who know Him as Father and has accepted HIs gift of salvation through HIs sin Jesus. So, if you choose not to talk with God throughout your daily life, don’t necessarily expect the responses that you pray for, because you’ve not learned to listen and know that His answers don’t necessarily line up with what you want or expect.

Gavin Noisome quoting Scripture brings to mind Samuel Johnson’s line about a dog walking on its hind legs: “It is not done well, but you are surprised to see it done at all.”

Paula in reply to Fred Idle. | August 31, 2025 at 2:08 pm

Wow. Gavin is now quoting scripture to back up his position. I suppose from now on he intends to look up bible verses and govern the state of California based on what it says in the bible.

henrybowman in reply to Fred Idle. | August 31, 2025 at 2:36 pm

More aptly, Samuel Johnson’s original source for the dog analogy was after hearing a woman preach. Gavin Newsom preaches even worse.

Gavin Newsom is the last person in the world who should be quoting a bible verse criticizing feckless posers.

At this point, one has to fairly wonder if the vile, stupid and evil Dhimmi-crats are just weirdly and staunchly committed to losing the 2028 presidential election to J.D. Vance in a landslide drubbing that eclipses the breadth of #47’s 2024 victory.

“How to lose friends and alienate people” — the title of greasy Newsolini’s new book.

Or, perhaps the vile Dhimmi-crats are hugely confident that they can re-take the White House with their rotten and evil coalition of illegal aliens, domestic criminals, misogynist trannies, “Anti-fa” terrorist-thugs and Islamofascists/Muslim supremacists.

Having abandoned God, they are turning to the second level… Satan. By the way, who is the greatest “theologian” after God…. Satan. As Milton put it…. the Left would rather rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.

Newscum doing mental gymnastics to not blame trans ideology for the mass shooting?

All kidding aside, who does he think this helps him with? Even most people who are agnostic or atheist don’t mock peoples faith. Whoever he has hired to do his press work needs to be fired yesterday. Outright mocking peoples faith will not win him a general election. Even Obama with his God and Guns remark was mocking a segment of our population in a sense not saying outright that religion was worthless which seems to be what Newsome is saying

It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if it pays off for him.

If I remember correctly, Wasn’t Governor Newsome trained as a Jesuit Priest?!?

Remember, Satan Accused Jesus, using Scripture, as he Demanded that Jesus perform a miracle to turn stones into bread to satiate his hunger during a 40 day fast , throw himself off of a high point, so Angels would prevent him from being hurt, and then Offered Jesus worldly power if He would Worship him.

Jesus used what we know as Old Testament Scripture in these temptations. Satan knows scripture better than Jews or Christians.

By his deeds, we see who Newsome is. He learned well in His training for the priesthood.

Jesus said “By their fruits, you shall know them.” Be diligent in your inspection of the fruit placed before you.

New tyrant is just a basic demon prostitute in all ways
