DNC Opens Summer Meeting With Land Acknowledgment Amid Debate Over Woke Language

Just last week, it was reported that a liberal think tank advised Democrats to stop using certain ‘woke’ words and expressions if they want to start being competitive again.
The folks at the DNC summer meeting this week have proved that the task will be easier said than done. They opened the meeting with a land acknowledgement that claimed Minneapolis is built on stolen land.

The Democratic National Committee kicked off its annual summer meeting in Minneapolis with a “land acknowledgment” that included an assertion that the U.S. perpetuates a system of suppression.
“Let’s talk about the land for a second,” said Lindy Sowmick, treasurer of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) and self-described “Indigenous queer woman,” after DNC Chairman Ken Martin introduced her to recite the acknowledgment.
“The DNC acknowledges and honors the Dakota Oyate – the Dakota people – who are the original stewards of the lands and waters of Minneapolis,” Sowmick continued. “The Dakota cared for the lands, lakes and the Wakpa Tanka – the ‘Great River,’ the Mississippi River – for thousands of years before colonization. This land was not claimed, or traded – it’s a part of a history of broken treaties and promises. And, in many ways, we still live in a system built to suppress Indigenous peoples’ cultural and spiritual history.”
Sowmick encouraged members of the Democratic Party to see the “land acknowledgment” as more than just “the checking of a box.”
“As Democrats, I ask of every one of you to not allow land acknowledgments like these to simply be the checking of a box – be curious, ask questions, ensure our native neighbors are heard and work in partnership with your Indigenous communities,” Sowmick urged the crowd Monday. “Honor the legacy of this land and its people by engaging today with each other with honesty, humility, respect and compassion.”
You’ll notice that no one at this meeting thought to give the land back, because this is nothing more than virtue signaling.

In another moment, attendees cheered for ‘gender affirming care’ for minors.

They ‘acknowledge’ the land. They aren’t going to actually give the land back to who it was allegedly stolen from, they aren’t going to compensate them for the land that was allegedly stolen, and they won’t do any kind of actual research to identify who is the ‘real’ owner of land that changed hands in bloody conflicts dozens of times.

So what exactly does that mean? Stewardship and caring for the lands? Well they were hunter gatherers so they basically lived off the land and wouldn’t have much of an impact in the first place. She’s making it sound like they made and cared for the Mississippi river and all surrounding lands. Which is weird seeing as they were only the last to settle there before running into the white man.
Every square inch of land on this planet has been conquered innumerable times. If the previous owners wanted to keep it, they should have fought harder. That they lost means it’s time to accept the advancement their superior conqueror brings.
We must acknowledge that these idiots have a significant influence over a large segment of our population, and have therefore been able to maintain dominance in areas where they predominate. The body reacts to infections that overcome localized defenses by walling them off via formation of an abscess. This inhibits further spread, but leaves these areas vulnerable to increasing destruction, and eventual extensive scar formation. I’m afraid that some of our cities will wind up like that.
