Cleaning House Week in Education

Cleaning House Week in Education

Your weekly report on education news.

Marco Rubio and the Trump administration are taking the student visa issue very seriously. This is so long overdue.

Higher education has issues that must be addressed.

The problems run deep.

This was so predictable.

The fat is being trimmed.

How creative of them.

Oh.

This is still happening?

This is just asking for an investigation.

The State Department says 55 million people hold US visas! Not clear how many currently reside in the US. The State Department says it issued 446,000 F1 student visas in 2023 alone so 6,000 is a virtual nothing. Why should we have any student visas? Why should Americans have to compete with foreigners for admission to American schools? We know the answer: money. Lots of people, companies and institutions making big bucks with the immigration racket.

How can State possibly vet 55 million visa holders? Regardless of where they might reside. How about simply canceling all 55 million? Let the visa holders reapply, so we can vet them as they reapply. To merely suggest such an idea would bring on chorus of screaming and perhaps even rioting. The kissing has to stop or we will lose the traditional US. Of course that’s the whole point of immigration both legal and illegal.

Why should Americans have to compete with foreigners for admission to American schools?

To put it simply, because “iron sharpens iron so one persons sharpens another.”

The real world outside of school is one of competition. If Americans cannot compete with foreign students in getting into schools, we need to look at and revamp the American education system from top to bottom – from buildings, to teachers, to parents, to administration, to textbooks.

We need to compete in education as well.

so if women cant compete against men

then we shouldnt pay them the same money as a male when the standards are lowered for the female

if a female volleyball player cant compete against a male in that sport

why would we expect a female to be able to hold up her end of the hose on a fire truck
or have the ability to carry out a victim

So are you saying that American women and men can’t compete intellectually with men and women from other countries?

Or are you making the false comparison between physical abilities and intellectual abilities?

        either way I am correct

        its not about “other countries”

since men and women CANT be compared ,,but yet women are given credit for having the same abilities as men..which is a lie ,,they shouldnt be allowed to participate unless they can meet the same standards ,,,not lowered same standards,,but the same high standards as males

          either way I am correct

Actually, in neither way are you correct.

The original poster asked “Why should Americans have to compete with foreigners for admission to American schools? and offered the answer of “money.”

There are limited number of spots in any school. The Supreme Court ruled in
Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard that schools must admit students based on their academic abilities, not race, gender, creed, etc.

If Americans want more Americans in American schools, we have to raise our academics and teaching of American students.

You seem to think that we are talking about athletic and or physical endeavors. We are not. We are talking about intellectual endeavors.

If you think that men and women cannot be compared in areas of science, math, physics, medicine, etc,. there is no hope for your incorrect and myopic view.

But that’s okay. Keep exposing your ignorance to reality.
