The Prince of Darkness has passed away just weeks after his final show with Black Sabbath.
What can be said about Ozzy Osbourne that hasn’t already been said?
John Michael Osbourne came into this world in Birmingham, England, on December 3, 1948. He received the “Ozzy” nickname in school.
Ozzy and bassist Geezer Butler formed a band in 1967 before guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward recruited them in 1968.
They settled on the name Black Sabbath in 1969.
Black Sabbath founded heavy metal. They are the godfathers of one of the best music genres ever. They’re as influential as The Beatles. I guarantee you can ask any metal or rock musician about their influences, and Black Sabbath is on the list.
By the way, it is an absolute crime that Ozzy only went into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2024.
Ozzy stepped away from touring in 2023 due to Parkinson’s disease and spinal injuries.
Ozzy and Black Sabbath reunited on July in Birmingham for the first time since 2005 for the Back to the Beginning show.
Ozzy sat on a throne since he could no longer walk. It was fitting though for a prince.
The sold out show raised around $200 million for local charities.
It’s also going to be turned into a movie in 2026 called Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow.
I really have no words right now. I’m heart broken.
