Ozzy Osbourne Passes Away at 76
Rest in peace, our Prince of Darkness.
The Prince of Darkness has passed away just weeks after his final show with Black Sabbath.
Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76. I still can't believe it.
A few weeks ago he was giving his final concert. I hope you came home, Ozzy ❤️pic.twitter.com/XLcxWz4MqC

Statement from the family of Ozzy Osbourne:
"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at…

What can be said about Ozzy Osbourne that hasn’t already been said?
John Michael Osbourne came into this world in Birmingham, England, on December 3, 1948. He received the “Ozzy” nickname in school.
Ozzy and bassist Geezer Butler formed a band in 1967 before guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward recruited them in 1968.
They settled on the name Black Sabbath in 1969.
Black Sabbath founded heavy metal. They are the godfathers of one of the best music genres ever. They’re as influential as The Beatles. I guarantee you can ask any metal or rock musician about their influences, and Black Sabbath is on the list.
By the way, it is an absolute crime that Ozzy only went into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2024.
Ozzy stepped away from touring in 2023 due to Parkinson’s disease and spinal injuries.
Ozzy and Black Sabbath reunited on July in Birmingham for the first time since 2005 for the Back to the Beginning show.
Ozzy sat on a throne since he could no longer walk. It was fitting though for a prince.
The sold out show raised around $200 million for local charities.
It’s also going to be turned into a movie in 2026 called Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow.
I really have no words right now. I’m heart broken.

I would add War Pigs
and N.I.B.
Ohh, and from Volume 4 my favorite Sabbath song: Supernaught (Tony was fantastic!)
War Pigs is perhaps even more relevant today than when originally released.
Musta been the head of that bat that finally did him in. Or was it a chicken? Or both?

After playing Black Sabbath’s first album for his parents, his father remarked “I don’t think you are enjoying ‘an occasional pint’ there, John!”
76.
The Anslinger club is gnashing their teeth today.
Incredibly talented but underrated artist who is often unappreciated by mainstream audiences.
As James Hetfield said during the Metallica set of Back to the Beginning: “Without Sabbath, there would be no Metallica:
Not just an artist/musician. Like many greats, an entertainer as well.
Apparently, ‘The Keith Richards Pharma Formula for Pickled Preservation Life Extender’ doesn’t work for everyone who tries it.
RIP
Translation: an unlucky drug addict.
76 ain’t bad, dudes. He beat the actuaries.
Many years ago, I had an actuarial table. I stored my calculator on it
/ducking.
Yup.
One of the most theatrical vocal leads and front man in the history of rock. While it’s sad to see him go, the reality is going at 76 after the life he led in his first 30-years is stealing a whole bunch of years. He’s lucky AF. He EASILY could have been part of the 27-Club.
I’ve thought for years that Ozzy was lucky to be alive since he’d past his expiration date in his 40’s.
Love her or hate her, Sharon Osbourne probably had a lot to do with him staying alive past his 40’s.
The warranty on that engine/electrical/chassis was voided long ago.
Going to 76 is not a bad run.
I’ll remember at his best.
One of the first albums I ever bought on cassette as a young teenager was Bark at the Moon.
Methinks Ozzy’s greatest legacies will be that $200m he raised for charities and the fact that he literally shuffled off this mortal coil with his bats…err…boots on. 😉
And a 40 year marriage without a hint of scandal.
Interesting. Does Ozzy get a pass from the Christians here from being a “Satan worshipper”
I put in quotes because he was pretty much a mock Satan worshipper for marketing. Always entertaining though!
Dr Owen Anderson has some interesting thoughts on the passing of John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne.

The song Momma I’m Coming Home was his tribute to Sharon that he had finally kicked his addictions. He cleaned up for her and it was his last time.
As far as I’ve read, he kept his promise to her.
Crazy Train was the pop culture sensation but I always though Mr Crowley was his best song.
