Joy Reid Clashes with Piers Morgan Over Race, Blog Scandal
“I don’t think you were fired after all those years because of your skin color or because you’re a Black woman. I think you were fired because your show just got increasingly unpopular.”
In a tense and at times explosive interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, former MSNBC host Joy Reid faced relentless questioning from Piers Morgan over her controversial blog posts and her claims that race played a role in her firing. The interview quickly devolved into a battle over accountability, identity politics, and public trust, with Morgan accusing Reid of hypocrisy and playing the race card.
“Now you’re not at MSNBC,” Morgan asked. “Now you’re on your own doing your own thing, and you don’t have to worry about repercussions and stuff. Are you prepared to finally come clean and just admit that was your blog and you did say those things?”
Caught off guard, Reid responded with a dig at Morgan’s coverage style rather than a clear answer.
You know, Piers, I might have known that you would use this opportunity and interview and that this was your purpose, right?” Reid began. “This is your purpose and that’s fine. This is your show, and you can do whatever you like. You know, I could sit here and go on and on and fight with you about your strange, weird obsession with Megan Markle, but I won’t do that because that would be rude.”
Morgan persisted, reading back one of Reid’s now-infamous comments from her deleted blog, which she originally blamed on hacking in 2018.
“I’m talking about you posting on your blog that you wouldn’t watch ‘Brokeback Mountain’ because you don’t want to see two male characters having sex,” Morgan said. “‘Does that make me homophobic? Probably. Most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing.’ Your words, not mine, Joy.”
Reid didn’t deny the quote, but didn’t directly claim authorship either. Shooting back, “and your point is?”
Morgan then pointed to what he called Reid’s hypocrisy in today’s political climate.
“That maybe that makes you a bit of a hypocrite when you’re taking the position of being an ally for the LGBTQ community,” Morgan said. “And actually the best way to handle it, I would argue, is just to say, ‘You know what? Actually, I did write that at the time. They’re not my views now. I’ve learned. I’ve evolved. I’ve moved on.’ Trying to pretend even now that you didn’t write it is preposterous. And I think you know that.”
Reid reiterated that she felt “deeply apologetic” and accepted responsibility for the content, though she continued to suggest she may not have authored all of it herself.
The tension escalated further when the conversation turned to her firing from MSNBC earlier this year. Reid asserted that her identity played a role in the cancellation of The ReidOut, which saw ratings drop 28% between February 2024 and February 2025. Morgan challenged that assertion directly.
“Joy, I mean, let’s be honest. I don’t think you were fired after all those years because of your skin color or because you’re a Black woman. I think you were fired because your show just got increasingly unpopular,” Morgan said.
Reid, visibly irritated, fired back and turned the accusation around.
“I love the fact that your ‘play the race card’ is your version of the race card. You literally are so fixated on trying to racialize conversations with me, Piers, I actually find it quite charming,” Reid said before she was cut off.
Morgan wasn’t convinced.
“You racialize more conversations in your tenure at MSNBC than any host in history,” a peeved Morgan interrupted while Reid continued to speak.
Reid continued to accuse Morgan of selectively quoting her past interviews, specifically a discussion with Marc Lamont Hill where she suggested her identity made some White viewers more hostile.
“You take an entire conversation I had with Marc Lamont Hill and pick the bits that you can racialize because this is your schtick,” Reid told Morgan.
Morgan responded bluntly.
“You racialize everything Joy, come on… It’s not my schtick, it was your schtick, but people got bored with it,” Morgan shot back.
Watch the full interview:
Reid’s MSNBC tenure was frequently marked by racial commentary targeting conservative Black leaders, including calling Justice Clarence Thomas “Uncle Clarence” to name a few moments. In 2018, MSNBC stood by Reid amid the blog scandal, saying the old posts were “not reflective” of the colleague they knew.
But now out on her own, Reid’s past is following her into every interview, and Morgan wasn’t about to let her rewrite it.

Ack it’s back!!!! I thought that ugly racist bitch was gone for good. I’ve always hated Morgan and here is another reason why.
Outright racists like reid will always find someone to put them on air because they get views for the host.
Reid was cancelled because she is a talentless ultra left wing racist with a severe case of TDS. She got more and more unpopular as people tired of her schtick. The only surprising thing is how long she managed to scare the management into paying her
It was PMSNBC. They basically agree with her.
glad he shines a light on these racists!
She will never fess up to how evil she really is.
It was so nice to see her called out to her face. Excellent!
Why did you capitalize “black?”
Wow this is a a lot of fun. This would be good on repeat if I didn’t have to hear the Black grievance mongers….someone do an edit and autotune their crying voices.
Knowles is the new Shapiro by the way….he has some momentum.
Reid accuses Trump of speaking like Hitler. However Trump does not speak in German. Spoken German has three major forms that can differ in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Each form has many sub dialects. As Hitler was Austrian, he would have originally spoken in that form. Later he took voice lessons and coached to speak high German or Hochdeutsch. So she needs to tell us what words Hitler used and translate them. I’m sure she knows none of this. The next time someone tells you that Trump talks like Hitler ask them to elaborate. I’ve even heard people say “Trump is literally Hitler” indicating they don’t know “literally” means. Only Hitler is literally Hitler and he’s no longer alive.
Or we can not give her weak argument more resistance than it deserves and just point and laugh.
Not gonna lie though your last three sentences made me chuckle a bit though. I imagined them being spoken by Rain Man.

Of all the things in the world to criticize Reid for, he had to pick the one thing I agree with her about. Watching two sodomites in chaps bugger each other in large screen technicolor is disgusting.
Reid doesn’t admit those were her posts on her blog. That’s what she is being criticized for; refusal to take responsibility. Let’s face it, accountability is kryptonite to some folks. They dodge, deflect, shift blame and attack those who point out the obvious truth. Here Reid engages in SIGN language employing Shame, Insults and Guilt against Morgan in order to serve her Need to be right.
Yes, yes, but the one, out of hundreds of examples of her hypocrisy he could have latched onto, he chose this one. The equally foul Morgan gets to attack Reid while virtue signaling that buggery is completely normal behavior. I can’t stand it when LI covers a destroyer’s occasional point in our favor as if this is of special significance.
Did he say it is normal? I’d disagree and call it deviant behavior simply b/c most people don’t engage thus it ‘deviates from the norm’. That said society has moved beyond the debate about whether homosexuality should be illegal or if people should be shunned for it. Arguing otherwise is like one of those lost Japanese Soldiers found still fighting WWII long after they wee defeated.
Frankly I think our culture/society better off this way. It wasn’t as if criminalizing it was stomping it out and why would we criminalize or even ostracize two consenting adults engaged in a consensual sexual relationship? That’s between them and their Creator. I’d far rather spend political effort to stamp out paedophilia.
What nonsense. Your argument had some superficial appeal before the widespread glorification of homosexuality. Now, we have explicit, propagandistic filth being pressed on young school children and totally perverted politicians running amuck because their fetishistic lifestyles render them immune from criticism. A more apt ww2 analogy would be Chamberlain thinking the most recent appeasement would quell Hitler’s desire for ever more territory. And, leave the creator out of this. The Holy Trinity is not a threesome.
I wondered if anyone else here thought that. I was amazed that I agreed with anything she had to say – but that? 100% ! It’s fine with me whatever you do – I just don’t want to watch it. I also would not want to watch hetero sex in a nursing home with 80+ year old participants. People want to identify with the stars in the movies – that’s the attraction. Especially the coming attractions.
Every time sodomy is criticized on this site, the downvotes pour in from the rump roasters.
Exactly right. This is the one thing she’s right about. Nobody wants to watch two guys making out.
remember that Reid isn’t African American , Her family are immigrants from the Congo.
Her family didn’t experience the Middle Passage.
Her family didn’t experience slavery.
Her family didn’t experience Jim Crow,
her family likely rounded up and sold slaves.
And yet she was able to steal an affirmative action slot from Harvard from an authentic African American .
She is a fraud
Last I checked, Congo is in Africa.
She is a first generation immigrant.
Her family didn’t experience the Middle Passage.
Her family didn’t experience slavery.
Her family didn’t experience Jim Crow,
She’s not ‘down with the struggle’ –she never encountered the struggle. The life experience for black African immigrants is vastly different from that of black people who’ve been here for generations.
In fact–
her family likely rounded up and sold slaves.</i?
this is not as unlikely as it sounds.
Never heard of Joy Reid? Who is she? Why do I care? MSNBC? Cut cable years ago. Except for sport, do not watch TV anymore. That might explain why. From the picture, she looks like a freak show..
shes david duke with a tan
true americans arent racist
we just want civility and when a bad action happens we call it out and the fact that its (as one example) a 60+% chance that its a black male who committed the violent crime ..it is
same way that if a serial murderer is white like it is many times…call it out
its the left that demands and ONCE AGAIN WINS
when hiding the age race gender of the criminal
“OHHHH ITS A MINIOR ,WE CANT TELL THE PUBLIC
what a load of bs you people have allowed
