Hundreds of Iran’s IRGC Soldiers, Officers Defecting to Israeli Intel Agency, Reported Mossad Account Says

A social media account, reportedly belonging to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, has claimed it has been contacted by hundreds of soldiers and officers who wish to abandon Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps  (IRGC).

A Persian-language X/Twitter handle, which styles itself as an official Mossad account, wrote Thursday that it has been overwhelmed by the response it received from members of the IRGC, the Iranian regime’s military arm, and urged willing defectors to be patient and wait to be contacted by the intelligence agency.

“We expected it, but not to this extent!” the Mossad Farsi posted. “Hundreds of active IRGC soldiers and officers, fed up with this regime, are reaching out to us.”

The Mossad Farsi appears to be a resourceful account. When Iran refused to publicly name the new military chief, fearing his elimination by the IDF, the account revealed General Khatam al-Anbiya as the new head of the regime’s wartime military command.

The Israeli news website Ynetnews reported Wednesday:

In an effort to prevent the assassination of a successor to the successor, Iran decided not to reveal the name of the new commander. But Mossad Farsi (Persian) had other plans.

This mysterious social media account, recently identified as an official channel for messages from Israel’s Mossad in the Persian language, published another intriguing post on the X social media platform Tuesday. This time, it called on followers to guess who they thought is now heading Khatam al-Anbiya.

The tweet was posted days after the exiled crown prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, opened a secure online channel to help disaffected officials, civil servants, and military personnel connect with the opposition movement.

Crown Prince Pahlavi sees the weakening of the Iranian regime in the wake of the Israeli and U.S. strikes as an opportunity for toppling the Mullah regime after 46 years of tyrannical rule.

“This is our Berlin Wall moment,” the 64-year-old exiled prince said in a recent address to the Iranian people.

He asked his countrymen to imagine an Iran without this regime. “Imagine this new Iran,” he said. “A free and democratic Iran, living at peace with our neighbors, an engine of growth and opportunity.”

The UK-based news website Iran International reported Monday:

Iran’s exiled Prince Reza Pahlavi announced the launch of a secure communication channel for Iranian military, law enforcement, security, and government personnel who wish to connect with him and his team.

“For your own security, only scan the QR code during the TV broadcast on this network and then complete the registration form and information,” Pahlavi advised.

The prince warned against scanning any other codes circulated on social media, saying that only the code shown during the official broadcast is valid.

“Since the advertisement began airing, hundreds have already joined this national cooperation effort,” he added.

Pahlavi pledged to keep participants regularly informed about developments and called on trusted members of Iran’s armed and security forces to unite with the nation.

Speaking directly to security personnel who are still loyal to the Islamic Republic, he said, “Now is the time to join the nation. If you do so, I guarantee your service to Iran will not only be remembered but honored.”

The recently concluded 12-day Rising Lion operation by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) suggests that Israel’s Mossad had access to wide-ranging human intelligence reaching up to the top echelons of the Iranian military and regime.
