Cops Nab Three Suspects in Cincinnati Brawl
One of the suspects was out on bond.
Cincinnati law enforcement has arrested three suspects in connection with a violent brawl that left a woman with a cracked skull.
Montianez Merriweather, 34, Dekyra Vernon, 24, and a 39-year-old man from East Price Hill are in custody.
All three face felonious assault and riot charges.
The cops have not nabbed two other suspects they’ve identified.
Marriweather should not have been on the streets. From The Cincinnati Enquirer:
Merriweather was indicted on four felony charges on July 10 after investigators said he was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm. Court records show he is charged with carrying concealed weapons, receiving stolen property, improper handling of firearms in a vehicle and weapons under disability.
The last charge is due to a prior felony conviction in 2009 for aggravated robbery, the documents state.
In the weapons case, Merriweather was released after posting 10% of a $4,000 bond.
“He never should have been out,” said Ken Kober, Cincinnati police union president.
No records exist of Vernon having prior criminal convictions.
Law enforcement has not explained how the brawl started over the weekend. We know it started at 3 AM on July 26.
The footage showed two black men chasing down a white man, knocking him to the ground. Then a large group swarmed around him, kicking him on the head and torso.
One person body-slammed him.
A woman rushed in to help the men, but one person punched the back of her head.
The lady fell down, cracking her head on the pavement and knocking her out cold.

There is zero chance they’ll get 3-years. My guess is they’ll plead to misdemeanors and will be sentenced to probation.

Firearms laws are a joke. This Merriweather was already a prohibited possessor with no less than one VIOLENT felony conviction involving a firearm. He gets arrested just weeks ago on four more firearm related felonies and some municipal judge effectively sets his bail at $400 cash.
To put that in perspective, Trump’s bail in that absurd GA “election interference” case was set at $200k cash. Our criminal justice system, particularly in urban areas, is wholly dysfunctional and ineffective. It’s a revolving door for violent offenders.

Modern America uses its streets as extension prisons, releasing felons early, expecting useless weapons laws and parole officers to keep them disarmed. Before I was born, my parents and all my siblings lived there. Some neighborhood kids tortured the family dog — who thankfully survived. Between that and Dad’s new purchase of a horse they decided to move out to the farm where I grew up.
Our dogs were never bothered while we lived there.
An actual love of proper law and order among the citizenry would help this sort of thing a lot. But too many of them prefer Rule of Idiots, instead, and another large chunk think they’re safe and don’t bother to vote.

Assistant City Manager Virginia Tallent says violence is not an unsolvable problem.
“Approximately 4% of the city’s geography is responsible for most of the gun violence,” Tallent said. “We know the communities that are the most impacted. And so this is something that we can solve, but we have to all row in the same direction, and we have to fund community strategies and interventions that work.”

The Narrative that the police were pushing was that the (pale) tourists did (fill in act here) which inflamed the innocent young (darker) people into acts of justified retribution, which got a little out of hand because kids will be kids, and the tourists need to be arrested for their original offensive actions and prosecuted. This action would be greeted by great praise by the local community, thus punishing the horrible tourists for their offensive behavior while preventing the local ‘youths’ from facing any prosecution (and coincidentally keeping the police station from being burned to the ground and officers being assaulted in public)
