Witkoff Says Hamas Response to U.S. Ceasefire Proposal “Totally Unacceptable,” as Palestinians Fabricate New Massacre Claim

Also, Israel eliminates Hamas commander responsible for killing 21 IDF solders in January 2024 terror ambush.

After Hamas responded to the latest U.S. ceasefire proposal with new demands, President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, slammed the Gaza-based terrorist group’s stance as “totally unacceptable.”

“I received the Hamas response to the United States’ proposal,” Ambassador Witkoff said in a statement Saturday. “It is totally unacceptable and only takes us backward.”

He urged Hamas to “accept the framework proposal,” which offers an immediate 60-day ceasefire in exchange for half of the living and dead hostages. After 19 months of fighting, the terrorist group still holds 58 hostages, nearly 20 of whom are believed to be alive.

While Hamas refused to accept the deal presented by Witkoff, some media reports suggest the terrorist group had rejected the proposal. “A senior Hamas official has told the BBC the Palestinian armed group will reject the latest US proposal for a new Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal,” the BBC reported Thursday. “The Hamas official said the proposal did not satisfy core demands, including an end to the war, and that it would respond in due course.”

Hamas-run ‘Health Ministry’ fabricates new massacre claim, says IDF opened fire at Gazans seeking aid

Witkoff’s statement comes as Hamas-run Gaza’s ‘Health Ministry’ fabricates another massacre claim, accusing Israeli troops of opening fire on Gaza residents near a U.S.-backed aid distribution center in Rafah.

The U.S.-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which runs the Rafah aid center, debunked Hamas’s made-up accusations, saying that no such incident occurred near its facility.

Hamas has been angered that the new aid distribution network, unlike other international donors and NGOs, was bypassing its operatives. The terrorist group recently warned Gazans against accepting aid from the GHF, declaring that those who defy the threat “will pay the price.”

The Jerusalem Post reported:

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution center in Rafah denied on Sunday claims that the IDF attacked a food distribution point near Rafah, contradicting widely circulated Hamas reports.

Security camera footage from Sunday’s aid distribution site shows calm civilian activity, with no incidents reported. Aid was delivered without disruption, and the available evidence does not support claims of injuries or fatalities. While some media outlets have reported these allegations, others have contacted the organization to verify the facts, the GHF stated.

The IDF also said on Sunday that it was unaware of injuries caused by military gunfire within the humanitarian distribution zone, after news of an alleged Israeli attack in the area killed at least 31, according to Palestinian and Hamas-affiliated media. The IDF later said that the matter is being reviewed.

Following the incident, the GHF denied claims of casualties and injuries at the aid distribution sites. “All aid was distributed today without incident. No injuries or fatalities. We have heard that these fake reports have been actively fomented by Hamas. They are untrue and fabricated,” GHF noted.

Hamas is making these outrageous claims as it loses control over the humanitarian aid coming into Gaza after Israel, earlier this week, set up several U.S.-backed distribution centers in the enclave.

What makes Hamas’s claims even more dubious is the fact that the terrorist group had been seen setting up ‘checkpoints’ to block Gazans from reaching the newly established U.S.-sponsored distribution centers.

Hamas even threatened Gaza residents, who might dare to accept humanitarian assistance from these new centers, that they “will pay the price, and we will take the necessary measures,” The Wall Street Journal reported May 27.

The IDF, on Sunday afternoon, released footage showing Palestinian gunmen shooting at civilians approaching the aid distribution center.

The gunmen were masked and can be seen shooting at unarmed civilians, the IDF said in press release Sunday afternoon:

IDF drone footage captured earlier today (Sunday) reveals armed and masked individuals hurling rocks and firing at Gazan civilians attempting to collect looted humanitarian aid in southern Khan Yunis.

Hamas is a brutal and murderous terrorist organization that is starving the residents of Gaza.

Hamas is doing everything in its power to prevent the successful distribution of food in Gaza.

Despite Hamas’s dubious claims, some mainstream media outlets bought the terrorist propaganda hook, line, and sinker:

Gaza: Day 28 of Operation Gideon’s Chariots

With Hamas refusing to negotiate, the Israeli military pressed ahead with Operation Gideon’s Chariots in its fifth week. “IDF troops, directed by IDF and ISA intelligence, continue operational activity against terrorist organizations throughout the Gaza Strip,” the military said in a statement Sunday. “The troops eliminated terrorists and dismantled terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground.”

On Saturday, “IDF troops struck and dismantled the booby-trapped structure from which an explosive device was activated against IDF soldiers on May 20, 2025 — an incident in which Staff Sergeant Danilo Mocanu fell during combat,” the IDF disclosed. “Additionally, during operational activity in the Gaza Strip, IDF troops dismantled tunnel shafts and observation posts that posed a threat to IDF soldiers.”

Israeli airstrikes continued against Hamas terror targets in Gaza. “Over the past day, the IAF struck dozens of terror targets across the Gaza Strip, including terrorists, booby-trapped and military structures, underground routes, sniper and anti-tank missile firing positions that posed a threat to the troops in the area,” the military added.

Israel eliminates Hamas commander behind deadly terror attack on IDF troops

A day after the IDF confirmed the elimination of the Hamas chief, Mohammad Sinwar, in a recent airstrike, the Israeli military took out another Gaza-based terror commander who was responsible for the January 2024 attack on troops that killed 21 soldiers.

On January 22, 2024, Khalil Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib led a Hamas terrorist cell that ambushed IDF troops and a tank squad in southern Gaza. The attack was reported in the Israeli media as the ‘deadliest incident’ of the Gaza war.

The terrorist cell commander by Khatib “launched anti-tank missiles at buildings housing Israeli troops and at an armored unit securing the perimeter,” the Israeli news website Ynetnews reported Sunday. “The incident marked one of the deadliest single days for the IDF since ground operations began in the Gaza Strip.”

Israeli armed forces, backed by the Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, “struck and eliminated the terrorist Khalil Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, a cell commander in Hamas’ Al Mawasi battalion,” the military said in a statement Sunday. “During a reconnaissance mission, following an intelligence-gathering effort, IDF troops identified the terrorist and then directed an aircraft which struck and eliminated him.”

Besides the January 2024 attack, the slain terrorist was “involved in and advanced numerous terror attacks against IDF troops” since October 7, 2023, the IDF added.

Some people never learn that Hamas will never make peace and will never adhere to any cease fire they otherwise agree to. I guess you have to at least go through the motions even though they satisfy no one and especially not the ignorant, stupid, pro-Hamas, kill-the-Jews crowd in our country, To them it’s always the Jews fault, just for existing.

The only way to negotiate with Arabs in Palestine is with things which go bang.

Hamas will never make peace and will never adhere to any cease fire they otherwise agree to.

This is probably true, but is not the reason why the White House’s (and the Israeli government’s) approach is completely wrong. Suppose they did make a deal and adhered to it, it would still be wrong, for the same reason that it would have been wrong to make an armistice with Germany in 1944. The German desperately wanted a deal, and would almost certainly have kept their word had they been offered one, but the Allies agreed “No deal”. Even though that meant another year of bombing civilians and spreading misery. Because they had to be defeated outright, no matter how high the cost.

How do people not understand that the same is true for Hamas, Fatah, and all the so-called “Palestinians”? Every person who calls for a deal, or a ceasefire, should be forced to answer whether they would have been making the same demand of the Allies in 1944. Whether they think FDR was a mass-murderer and war criminal for insisting on prolonging the war in order to defeat the Germans and Japanese.

This will never end until sane Islam countries say it will, by not funding the destruction of Israel

Are there any sane countries of Islam?

Why are we asking for HALF the hostages?

“All the hostages, and anyone left alive who took them, held them, or killed them, or your leadership in Qatar starts having accidents. You have seven days. Maybe.”

Semper Why in reply to Crawford. | June 2, 2025 at 10:32 am

Because you need to establish that both sides can be trusted to abide by the agreements. Then you have a basis for getting the rest of what you want. Bargaining for everything at this stage is a non-starter as neither side trusts the other to stick to any agreement.

Milhouse in reply to Semper Why. | June 3, 2025 at 8:01 am

That is completely wrong. We should not want a deal. As Crawford says, it should be an ultimatum. Do as we say, or die. That’s what it should have been from the beginning. On Oct-8-2023 it should have been “Until all the hostages or their remains are returned, you are under total siege. Not a scrap of food, water, medicine, or anything else, and not an erg of electricity, will be allowed in, until you either return all the hostages, or have all starved to death. If that means two million dead “civilians”, then so be it; it will be your choice, not ours.”

Each side thinks it comes out ahead by continuing to fight. Their views on “ahead” are much different. Rhetorically ahead vs militarily ahead. Different sorts of goals.

Quit talking and let Israel finish off Hamas. Israel will do their best for the remaining hostages but stop talking.

Israel has my full support. It’s Ukraine that worries me. They’re bound and determined to start WWIII. I just hope their latest escapades haven’t done that.

Crawford in reply to Concise. | June 1, 2025 at 6:25 pm

They seem determined to repel Russia’s invasion. It’s Putin who seems obsessed with starting WWIII.

Concise in reply to Crawford. | June 1, 2025 at 7:00 pm

Uh huh, escalating attacks within the homeland of a nuclear armed power with European encouragement and support, why would anyone be concerned. Not like Russia ever threatened to use tactical nuclear weapons. And of course, China and other bad actors professing solidarity with Russia wouldn’t possible use the chaos for their own advantage and join the fun. Not like the world has ever been at war before.

ztakddot in reply to Concise. | June 1, 2025 at 8:09 pm

Russia has threatened to use tactical nukes many times. They;ve recently changed their definitions as to when they would use them.

JR in reply to Concise. | June 2, 2025 at 8:32 am

So, do you still believe that Ukraine started the war by invading Russia? Do you?

believe all hamass??

is running a close second to the

believe all women nonsense

I totes believe the Hamas press release of Gazan aid recipient murders, however I also totes believe the press release was mistakenly released too early before Hamas actually murdered hungry Gazan civilians in the hopes that friendly press would totes believe their lie that it was the IDF.

Do not be totes surprised if soon a few suicide Hamas fighters try to infiltrate the relief recipient wait line to murder their own civilians and

I suspect that the only long term solution here is for severely suffering people eventually to turn on their own terrorist organizations, as did the Germans after the Nazis and the Japanese after Bushido.
