Same Salute, Different Party: Media Spins for Cory Booker

Same Salute, Different Party: Media Spins for Cory Booker

“ending his speech with a gesture where he put his hand over his heart, then extended his hand out to the crowd – much in the way Musk and Bannon did, though not as forcefully as Musk did it”

Back in January, Democrats and the media took a meaningless moment of Elon Musk saluting a crowd on video and turned it into a week-long news cycle about ‘proof’ that Musk is a Nazi. The entire affair was ridiculous.

Now, Democrat Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey has been captured on video making the exact same gesture to a crowd of fellow Democrats. Seriously, it’s the very same gesture. Look:

Check out the side-by-side.

Naturally, people are talking about this on Twitter/X. Even Elon tweeted about it.

Now, prepare to be stunned.

Here’s how Newsweek covered the story:

MAGA Accuses Democratic Senator Cory Booker of Doing ‘Nazi Salute’

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, a Democrat, has drawn criticism from right-wing commentators and social media after making a gesture that bears similarity to the controversial one previously made by Elon Musk and Steve Bannon, for which they faced heavy backlash.

Newsweek reached out to Booker’s office and Elon Musk by email outside of normal business hours on Saturday evening for comment…

Booker spoke at a Democratic convention in California on Saturday, ending his speech with a gesture where he put his hand over his heart, then extended his hand out to the crowd – much in the way Musk and Bannon did, though not as forcefully as Musk did it.

The video was first posted by Richie Greenberg, a San Francisco-based political commentator and former GOP mayoral candidate for the city, and quickly spread among MAGA-social media.

The liberal Daily Beast wasn’t much better:

MAGA Melts Down Over Cory Booker’s ‘Nazi’ Salute

These days, raising your arm is dangerous territory. In a demonstration of what not to do, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker made an awkward right-arm gesture as he left the stage after speaking at the California Democratic Convention on Saturday…

Booker’s gesture, with arm moving forward and fingers splayed, differs slightly from Musk’s—whose fingers were tight and arm moved upwards and diagonally—but clearly not enough to avoid controversy…

On the other hand, allegations over Musk’s fascist beliefs do not stem entirely from a single gesture. The billionaire has long supported far-right parties across the globe, meeting, praising, and amplifying conservatives in at least 18 countries, NBC reports.

See? It was totally (D)ifferent when Booker did the exact same thing.

You don’t hate the media enough.

Booker is a Nazi.

“Stop calling me dollar store Obama…”

Hypocrites and liars.

No dice sparty. We gotta have one set of of laws and one standard of what is and what isn’t socially verboten. No exemptions b/c X and no exceptions b/c Y. If we have a law or a social/cultural norm we should either apply it equally to all in every circumstance or we get rid of it. No selective enforcement, no its ‘different when..’, no discretion and no leniency from criminal, civil or social prosecution. Either X action is bad or it isn’t. Choose.

Not possible. Booker and the rest of the “oppressed” class have BLACK PRIVILEGE that does not and will not apply to anyone else.

Case in point. If I use the word N:;;:;;:/:R, I am ostracized. Even to the point that the censors on this site will delete this post because of their sensitivity and overall lack of a scrotum.

Yet, turn on any Streaming Channel or Music App, and the “oppressed “ class will be spouting that same term continuously.

I can’t drive through our local city without a barrage of that crap ass music blasting out of speakers that have more value than the car they are installed in.

How about just applying the same social consequences and ostracize everyone who violates a social taboo? It has been my experience that people claiming to be the most concerned about violating a particular rule/norm/taboo get quite upset when the same standard is applied to them.

The Melanin Shield Of Invincibility is a great superpower. You can do and say anything then just move on.

The actual point to that is that it’s NOT a Nazi thing. Somehow, the lunatics in the media have completely missed that.

they didn’t miss it, they know exactly what they are doing

And yet, even knowing that what they say is completely ridiculous, they keep saying it. And then they wonder why people don’t trust them.

Was thinking back on the year I attended a “campus laboratory school” in the 6th grade… an elementary school as an extension of the university for purpose of training undergrads in teaching degree program. This was 1960 and as part of a show and tell about WWII, the kids were offered the chance to bring any interesting items their family had from WWII. Amazing collection of NAZI war trophies including three bladed knives, daggers, ceremonial trappings. Which families had these trophies? Upper class Jewish families… a reminder that their fathers, uncles, and brothers had destroyed the 3rd Reich… personally. Of course, nothing like this could be allowed today.

“The billionaire has long supported far-right parties across the globe, meeting, praising, and amplifying conservatives in at least 18 countries, NBC reports.” “Far Right” is now anything right of Lenin.

My middle class Jewish father had a Lugar.

I was at a holiday dinner years back and the conversation moved to WWII. The host brought out a 7.7 Arisaka in pristine condition including the fully intact chrysanthemum receiver engraving. His father brought it back from the Pacific. His father had “presonally” taken it from a Japanese soldier. It took time for the host to understand, as he grew up, that his Dad had been much deeper into the war… that he never talked about. Your Dad was part of that Greatest Generation.

ztakddot in reply to alaskabob. | June 1, 2025 at 8:15 pm

He was and he never talked much about it either. I do know that he was in Italy as part of Mark Clark’s 5th army and that he spent time in the hospital with hepatitis. He also was in combat and received a bronze star but I don’t know it included a V for valor.

It’s interesting to me in that Clark’s mother was Jewish. He was baptized though while at West Point.

I’m so freaking tired of a media and idiot leftists who believe that someone who wants smaller, more efficient and less powerful government is a “fascist”. These people are not educated and they are beyond stupid.

Looks like the famous Nazi salute as claimed by the left.

E Howard Hunt | June 1, 2025 at 6:42 pm

He is obviously giving the negronazi salute.

destroycommunism | June 1, 2025 at 7:28 pm

the difference is that

Booker really does represent the comminazi leftists

while musk was truly seen sharing a heartfelt message of love

It’s amazing that liberals are micro-analyzing the two salutes in order to differentiate between Booker’s and Musk’s salute, yet the huge differences between Musk’s salute and an actual Nazi salute are completely ignored.

As for the claim some (like Keith Olbermann) are making that Booker’s gesture is a “wave,” not a salute because his fingers aren’t together (as were Musk’s), here’s a photo of actual (American) Nazis giving splayed-finger salutes:
https://www.thenation.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Nazi_salute-MSG-getty.jpg

BTW, I notice Olbermann’s last name has final double-Ns, just like Martin Bormann. So Keith Olbermann must be just like Martin Bormann! Their similarities are striking, yes? Yep, they’re identical. May even be the same person.

“Sieg Homeboy.”

They are both intentional Nazi salutes. It’s not just raising the arm. It’s hand on heart, then extended.

Does it seem Trump’s administration is being a bit less weird to Israel, now that Musk (of the first of the Nazi salutes) has left? Israel’s aid stations in Gaza are up and running, baruch Hashem.

On the other hand, allegations over Musk’s fascist beliefs do not stem entirely from a single gesture. The billionaire has long supported far-right parties across the globe, meeting, praising, and amplifying conservatives in at least 18 countries, NBC reports.

Oooh, they slipped up there. They started out OK by referring to “far-right” parties, something that surely only a “fascist” would do. But then they admitted that simply “meeting, praising, and amplifying conservatives are an indication of “fascist beliefs”. And the segue is so smooth that it’s obvious that in their mind “conservative” and “far-right” are exact synonyms.
